Are they a lot cheaper? If you are playing well with the ix, how much do you save per ball by switching?

(questions I always ask myself when looking a new balls)

They run $30/dozen. I love the Cally ix, but they are discontinued and the new i(s)run about $42/dozen. At $1 a ball, it would be quite a bit of savings, as I usually only get 9 holes out of my Cally before the cover is completely shredded. I still have a stockpile of the ix, since they are selling at $25/dozen (if you can find them), but I'm always up for trying new things, especially when they are cheaper.

I play them, they are long, and seem straighter off the driver than Prov1's. With the deals Dick's offers (usually running a free 6 pack with purchase, or $5 off a dozen), plus the trial 6 ball packs they are worth a shot. Pretty good reviews on the Dick's site too

How do they spin around the greens? Do they feel soft?

Around the greens I get comparable action to a prov1. As far as feel goes they have 3 different compressions, so 3 different feels. The Tour is the mid compression and my first preference, it feels similar to a Prov1, and better than a Callaway. The XD is the higher compression for higher swing speeds, it is a little firmer. I thought it felt good, but I don't swing hard enough for that one. The Tour LC (low compression) is the interesting one, personally I like it the least of the three, but I know a 3 or 4 guys who started playing it and now swear by it.

The most noticeable thing when I first started hitting them was how hot they are off the face of the driver. I had been playing an NXT Tour, and when I switched to the Tour I honestly lost track of the first few drives. The ball really jumped off the face.

Has anyone tried any of the new Maxfli Tour series balls? I was wondering how they performed compared to other tour quality balls. I think I'm going to pick up a sleeve each of the Tour and HT Tour, to see how they perform compared to my Cally ix.

I bought a dozen of the Tour LC (thought I was buying the Tours, but apparently I wasn't paying attention). They were $41 at Dicks... and I finally found what I was missing out on about Dicks... nothing. There are SO many people right about that place, but I digress.

Anyway, I like how they feel- especially full shots with irons. It's not too "clicky", but it also doesn't feel like you're hitting a warm sweet potato, either. Spin-wise, the LC's aren't too different from the Callaway Hot Bites... which is what I feel they're most comparable to. They're solid all-arounders, but they won't make you jump for joy (well, I didn't, anyway...). If they were in the $30-$35 range, they'd be a solid offering.

I might give the Tours a go, but I don't know if I want to go to Dicks again...

As my swing speed is 85-90 mph, I picked up two dozen of the LC's when you got 6 free with each dozen and I had Dick's coupons at $3/dozen off plus I had $20 in Dick's rewards, so I got three dozen for $40 total. I liked them as compared to the Callaway Tour iX I had been using....although they were not as long.

I then tried the Maxfli HT when they were 2 doz for $30....they are a 4 piece ball with a surlyn like cover, which means they roll on the green. Once I got used to them rolling out somewhat, I liked them better than the LC's

With these selling buy-one-get-one-free for $40, I picked up two dozen of the standard Tour balls. The cover feels fantastic and the flight off the driver and spin on the wedge are as good/better than any ball I've ever used.

I've also bought a dozen MG Tour C4 balls and am planning to do are more exhaustive comparison once I have some more free time.

Never really cared for Maxfli balls before. Did have a set of their Revolution Black Dot irons I loved once though. Hopefully someone can review them soon and let us know if they're any good. I stumbled on the MG balls at $20 a dozen, and if these are good, maybe they'll be another competitor. Course I usually end up buying premium balls on sale when the new models come out anyway.

Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up. Bomb and gouge. Yes, I'm a club gigolo.

I bought the demo 6 pack and played the Tours, they were a good ball, somewhere between a Pro-V and a Nike One imo, not quite as soft feeling as a Pro-V around the greens, but good performance on full shots and softer and spinnier than a Nike with the wedge.

I think I like the Tour LC's better than the HT's.

Since April 16th, I have gamed more $$$'s than anyone else in my Saturday Golf Group of 50 golfers.

I can play one Tour LC for several rounds.
