I want to come visit the labs sometime soon. I have a big more a drive to get there however. About 9 hours.

 

I have family in Leesburg up north. My cousin is the super at Rasberry Falls so I'm hoping to make a golf trip out of it. Visit family, play golf, then head the extra 3 hours south to the labs one day.

Hey guys,

Thought this would be a neat idea.

Set up a Google map where you can pin yourself (city/state no addresses) sorry, Google login required.

Thinking this would help us find more forum members that might be right around the corner and we never knew it.

Might be able to use it to also set up future large group events for weekend getaways.

Never created one before and hopefully I set it up correctly, if not I'll tweak it till it works.

Search to add a place

In addition to simply drawing placemarks, you may also want to search for a specific place, like a restaurant, hotel, or museum to add to your map.

To search for and add places:

• Open a new or existing map in My Maps.
• In the left panel, click the layer you want to use. The selected layer will be blue on the left edge.
• Search for the business, address, or point of interest that you want to add. A new, non-permanent layer entitled “Search: your search term” will automatically appear in the left panel and your results will show as green pins on the map.
• To add that pin to your layers, click the result. Then click Add to map.

I like the map and have been on it since you first put this up. I kinda messed my point up a few minutes ago and had to redo it.

I think it'd be a good idea to post the link in each message you reply to on here.

The thread is a sticky already. Want folks to voluntarily do it out of wanting to participate in the map and maybe use the map to help with future MGS group events.

I'd love that but it's up to members.

I just don't want people to feel obligated to do it just for joining our forum.

One little recommendation. The current MGS map layer seems to be ordered by chronological participation rather than alphabetically. I didn't want to do any presumptuous housekeeping but doing an alpha drag/drop reorder might making searching easier as the list of member pins is sure to expand. NBD either way and thanks again for all your hard work.
