I enjoyed a set of Titleist 990's. Small head, cavity back, you can find them fairly cheap.

The 990b's are significantly smaller than the 990's so if your looking keep that in mind.

I had a set of becu Ping Eye 2's about 10 years ago and my buddy played the ISI and I liked his ISI way more than my Eye 2's. Might have been the shaft difference.

 

Classic Pings are still very playable today.

I don't think so. From what I've read they are one of the best Mizunos of the past.

thinking hard about the Adams CMB irons now.

 

Tony C. had a great write up about them and called them a poor man's version of Miura.

I have never, and I will never tell anyone "You must go buy these irons", but dude, if you're going to buy a set of player's cavity backs, you damn sure better try this iron. Just don't try it first - you may not try anything else. In my estimation the Adams CMB are every bit worthy of being called The Poor Man's CB-501, but if you are that poor man who puts them in your bag, I wouldn't expect anyone to feel sorry for you.

Had a set. Easily the best irons I've owned. Traded them in thinking that I needed a more forgiving set and I regret doing that until this day.

Haha!  Those are hilarious Shanks... I've seen a few of them on ebay.

Amazing what you'll find when you parameters are iron sets, us, 110 or less, ending soonest.
