What equipment are you thinking about?

So I just won a set of steelfiber i95 shafts from an instagram contest, but what irons do i put them in? do i put them in my existing iron set? or more fun would be to buy some other heads to put them in lol.

I play One length irons and also have some R7 traditional lengths I mess with once in a while .. I have this urge to buy some Sub70 699 ..most likely wil demo first and see how I like them .. maybe switch out of OL to traditional again.

... The good news is it is very easy to pull Steelfibers if you wish to change to another set. The steel outer shell is pretty durable. Of course I do my own work so there is no expense for re-shafting and I know it isn't cheap to have not done by someone good. Good luck and congrats!

I do my own work as well, so not a problem for me to pull and reshaft.

You should put some Miura PP-9003 heads on them. The Straight neck has little offset. Can find them on the Bay. I almost considered these. They are their GI/CB clubs but I read a lot of good things on them.

Brampton 20/20 or Golfworks equivalent. I always use the long cure stuff that is made for golf.

I am trying to find a good deal on Srixon Z585s, that would be the perfect scenario. 

Also, will likely need to do some hosel boring, the Steelfibers that I won are .370 parallel tips.

i'm super conservative on the club building, so i have always feared the quick set stuff. always felt like i would make a mistake and feel like i have more room for error with the 24 hour. at least more room for error from a timing perspective.

The other option is to "sand" down the shafts to .355 taper tips.    I was looking at Fujikura Pro's and that is what Fujikura said to do since they only came in .370.

Yep, i thought about that option as well. For me personally, I feel more comfortable using a 0.370 hand reamer than sanding down the shaft tips, feels like the hand reamer is harder to screw up.

Check out the PXG 0211 irons also.

The look is very similar, I'm not sure about the 699 being a progressive set like the 0211's however.

No knock on the Sub 70 brand, but at $89 per club, the PXGs are the best deal in golf right now. You get a 30 day trial period with them, and if/when you decide to move on from them, the resale and trade in values with the PXGs will be much greater than the 699s*. In fact you might make a small profit selling the PXGs.

*to be honest, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a retailer willing to do a trade on Sub 70s

Put in a low bid on a srixon combo set of irons. Its likely a flip, would rather have a set of more forgiving Srixon irons (i.e. Z 585)

If you win keep em. One way to learn consistency is to play harder clubs and grow into them.

... Sorry and not singling you out, but this has always been a pet peeve of mine. Unless you are just mentally lazy, playing the most forgiving clubs you can effectively play is always your best option. You get better by making better swings with better contact. Clubs are designed to do certain things well and IF you grow into GI's from SGI's and PI's from GI's as a natural progression of how you swing, there is certainly nothing wrong with that. If you are hitting your GI irons too high or with too much spin but making excellent contact, it might be a good idea to move into a PI that allows more control.

... But skipping ahead and thinking playing more difficult to hit irons will make you a better ball striker is completely backwards thinking. We can see with the advent of Players Distance irons that are more forgiving that quite a few playing something like a Titleist Forged 620 CB moving to T100-S or even T100 with great results, which of course is moving in the opposite direction from more difficult to hit to more forgiving. Golf is an extremely difficult game to play and making it easier, not harder is always a good idea.

I agree with this, and likely why i will flip the clubs im bidding on.

Man, there is a set of z785 with c-taper stiff calling my name. I too would like a combo but man those might be too hard to pass up.
