GolfSpy BOS
Not golf related this time. Who here has a good baseball glove? Mine is really worn down and my son is getting to the age where we can actually play catch. Figure I should get a good one now that should last me the rest of my life. I’ve been looking at the Rawlings Heart of the Hide and Wilson A2000 lines. Wilson A2000 is the gold standard these days it seems. Exceptional quality and functional practicality. Nothing fancy, simple and well made. I have a Zett Custom from my playing days back in the 90’s. Wilson and Rawlings tend to be a little stiffer and require more breaking-in initially than Zett, Nocona, or Mizuno. sixcat
I’m not one to change equipment very often but it’s time. I’ve been testing some demos with the help of the PGA Professional at my home club for 3 weeks now. I have absolutely fallen in love with the i210 irons. Trying to zero in on the right shaft. It’s looking like DG 120 S300 is going to be the winner. We’ve tested everything. My first irons were Tommy Armour 845. I played them from age 11 until buying a set of Eye 2 at about age 19. Then played nothing but Ping until right around age 40. I didn’t even realized I missed Ping and Dynamic Gold until that first strike with the i210. That old familiar feeling was like finding a $20 bill in some old jeans in the back of the closet. The familiar ball flight and spin numbers with the traditional lofts is something I didn’t realize I missed either. I probably hit 50 balls Friday with the 7 iron. You could have thrown a blanket over 47 of them! Distance was a consistent 156 yards and average distance from the centerline was a foot. Waiting for the weather to break to dive into a wedge fitting before placing the order. bens197
Took my favorite (only) daughter to kill a couple hours at the mall and explore the new Dicks sports. It’s ridiculously nice with three fitting bays and a diverse array of clubs. I went to the putting green with my helper and tried the 2ball ten and the Phantom 2021 line. I really liked the 2ball but liked the 11.5 even better. I was ready to pull the trigger but the only 35” had scratches along the top. I couldn’t get over that for a new club. Super nice feel and great aesthetic. I am doing my best to use some restraint. Pictured is the 11.0 with the higher bend face balanced putter. I couldn't get it to to track, tendency was to stay left which makes sense. twyatt700, GolfSpy_SHARK, Nolan220 and 4 others 7 Quote Titleist TSi3 Fujikura Speeder NX Blue 60X TaylorMade SIM2 3 wood Fujilkura Ventus Blue 7-X Titleist U505 2 Tensei 1K Black 85 X Titleist T100 4-P Nippon Modus 3 120X PING S159 50-S 55-H 59-T DG X100 Vokey SM8 50, SM9 54 & 60 Nippon Modus 3 120s L.A.B. twyatt700
I really want to get a rapsodo launch monitor. Now that they can do indoor metrics I think it’s the best one. I have the prpg but it’s just consistent in picking up the ball. Hopefully I’ll get a few bonuses this year and can pick one upSent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Took my favorite (only) daughter to kill a couple hours at the mall and explore the new Dicks sports. edingc
Shopping for the wife this time, not me. I'm personally still on a pretty firm "no new purchases" for the rest of the season. Curious for some thoughts from everyone here... Wife hasn't played in three years due to shoulder surgery. Before the surgery we used to play an executive course that was short enough that she didn't need a driver. That course closed and so now we're going to be playing where I usually do, so she's going to need a driver, a 56 degree wedge and maybe something like a 5 wood. She's currently gaming a set of Cobra S3 hybrids and irons that she was "fit" for in 2012. NV-3 graphite shafts, regular flex. We have 3H (20 degrees)-GW (49). When she was fit back in 2012 her mid-iron swing speed was high 70s. I put her on the Mevo last weekend at the range and that's fallen some to about a 70 MPH 7 iron (though I would expect as she gets her confidence back it will come up a few). Long and deliberate swing. She has issues elevating the ball, I'm working with her on that currently. Anyway, looking at driver and wedge options. Looking to spend between $200-$300 for a driver, and would prefer to spend no more than $120-$130 for a wedge. No brand preference (though she said she would prefer not Callaway), so here's what I'm looking at: Drivers (probably looking for 12 degree models) - Ping (G400 SFT, G410 SFT, G410 Plus), Cobra (SpeedZone Xtreme), Tour Edge (EXS or EXS 220). Going to be looking for SR/A flex or Regular flex, I think she'd be fine with either. Wedges - I can get a brand new women's CBX wedge for a bargain off eBay, but I'm afraid the shaft will be a little short/lite compared to her irons. Still could swap the shaft and grip and be set for less than $100. Otherwise looking at Sub70 options? I know I could build a Maltby for cheaper but I think the CBX would be good for her. Could also bump up to $150 and get the CBX2 with the stock Rotex graphite. Any suggestions for something else that I'm overlooking? Especially with driver? sirchunksalot 1 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Might be able to get that less. 2016/17 m2 or the m6. The pxg 0211 is $239 brand new. With shipping and tax should come out to under if you stay stock setup.
