SRIXON SRIXON SRIXON just a thought....

Also on my list! Really, anything that has some tungsten or other forgiveness packed into the toe/cavity. If I end up wanting to go to a true cavity, I'll just wait for the new Sub70 releases.

Keeping in mind cost and ability to find gently used sets is also on my mind. I will for sure be sticking with graphite so I will most likely need to reshaft whatever I settle on. Can get the Cobras with Recoil 110s and the Apex Pros with MMTs, so they are naturally floating higher up my list.

I am sure you will document this thoroughly and we are all looking forward to hear how it goes. Hope it goes well.

I'll be sure to do a quick write up and grab some pictures!

Enjoy the process!  Although, I’ll be the first to bet you end up in the same MMTs you’re gaming now.  Those are GREAT shafts.

I do love what I have currently. I'll elaborate a bit more in whatever write up I do, but I could use a touch more spin which should help reign in the distance just slightly on my longer irons.

I am also hoping he will be able to throw my current set on their loft/lie machine and get them checked. I've recently noticed a really wide gap between my 9 and 8 and figure a winter of mat work has probably thrown stuff off just a little bit.

I was contemplating renewing my membership but the price jumped up and not a lot of tournaments in my area. If it’s like last year, there’s only one tournament within an hour and a half drive.

Lots of thoughts running through my head after going to the NE Golf show today…

1.  The LTDx and Rogue Max LS are sweeet.  While I don’t think they’ll likely be any better than my Epic Max LS it felt good to whack some balls today off the center of the club head.  The Tensei AV White was nice in both of them.

B11BA59C-968F-4ED7-BCEA-9D8FFE7FC938.jpeg

2.  The Mizuno Pro 225’s felt mouthwateringly smooth.  Got to get a quick fit from the Mizuno rep using the shaft optimizer.  Top recommendation was the Project X IO.  A little more lightweight than the Modus 120x I’m using, but not that overly different in profile.  The whole package felt great.  Definitely a club I want to spend some more time with.

3.  For not really hitting a ball since November, the swing didn’t feel all out of sorts once I got a little warmed up!

I would like both of these in my bag haha. The stock shaft options are weird, or I'm just not seeing the AV Blue 65 Stiff offered in the Max LS. Was contemplating a possible mistake of buying it blind since there's a 150% trade in promo going on. Was fit for the Epic Flash in that shaft, I'm sure it would do ok in the newer head right? Right!??!

Seems logical to me. 😂

Ooph don’t tell me about 150% trade in days please. we’re trying to list our house soon. The mortgage guy told me to avoid “large purchases”. 🤣

Really having the itch for a new driver. The PXG gen 4 has my eye. Don’t think I will pull the trigger but the prices they have are making me think about swapping out my woods when the time comes. If I could get a low enough spin option I’d be thrilled

I often look at this thread and often think, “When am I not thinking about new equipment?” I’m always thinking about equipment. 😂 Usually it’s putters but I recently watched an interesting video that discussed replacing longer irons with either hybrids or woods. Which then has me put my thoughts of a putter on the back burner and I navigate over to to the PXG website to look at fairway woods and hybrids, their veteran’s discount has a strong pull. Then in classic Matt squirrel fashion, I read an tweet from MGS that mentions best mallet putter for a slight arc and say to myself, “I have a slight arc.” And I’m off to the Scotty Cameron website. And all of a sudden, “fairway woods and hybrids”, never heard of them. 🤦🏻‍♂️

... I was fit twice for Rogue drivers and first time the ST 9*  with the AD-IZ in S/R flex was the best fit. But we ran out of time and I didn't get to hit the 10.5* LS. Second time they didn't have the AD-IZ in the S/R flex and we dialed in the LS 10.5* with the new AV Blue 65 in S flex performing best so it is most definitely an option.

I was impressed by the compactness of the 225s. I was at the golf shop last night helping my mother-in-law find some new irons (Tour Edge E522 Ironwoods ended up being the winner for her), and browsed all of the irons. Honestly, the 225s are much smaller than I figured they'd be. I don't think I'd trade the 699 Pros for them, but if I was in the market for that style of iron and wasn't going to go DTC, 225 would be top of my list.

Impact position looking dialed! 🔥

I just hit the Cobra LTDX LS for the first time over lunch today.  It was following a workout, so needless to say the swing was not feeling dialed.  Kind of dumb on my part as I do not feel like I got much out of it.  However, I can say that the feedback is nice on the club.  Very easy to tell where I hit on the face.  Also, spin stayed at great numbers.  One outlier that was too low and one that was too high, but everything else was great.  Will have to keep this on my list for ones to try.

Next, just a takeaway, but MGS is spot on about hitting with quality golf balls during a fitting.  The first half of my session was with the Maxfli rocks that Golf Galaxy had available and I could not get my ball speed over 160.  I stumbled across a couple TP5X and used those for the remainder.  My ball speed did not fall below 166 from then on and I had a couple hit 172.  Just crazy how big of a discrepancy it was.

My home course opens Thursday and I’m looking to upgrade from my Ping G30 3 hybrid , the oldest club in my bag, and my G410 Crossover 4 to PXG 0341X Prototype 5 and 7 woods. I’ve been thinking of going with the change since last season and the pricing on the clubs makes them rather attractive at $179 each. I currently play a Gen 1 0341X 3 wood and I love that club. I hit it much better than any other fairway wood I’ve ever played. Oh and my wife even gave an ok to the idea. 😂

Well... since my wife is sending her PXG 0211 Driver and 7W with the Evenflow Riptide shaft in Senior flex back to PXG, I thought I'd give them a try.  Driver was a no-go; easily 20 yards less than my regular flex Callaway Epic Max.  However, the 7W is definitely worth considering.  I have never been very good with FW of any flavor; and brand, any loft although I had never tried a 7W before.  I carried a 3W and then a 5W for years, but I was much better with my W/S D300 17º hybrid with not much loss in distance.

I played her 0211 7W (had to share it) for most any long shot from the fairway.  I had no trouble with any lie, even those nasty downhillers I get so often.  At 21º and the senior flex shaft it launched higher than my 17º hybrid and carried further.

Another good feature is that it is a very easy club to hit a draw.  I don't hit draws much; harder for me than hitting fades but I like straight.  I found myself behind my usual tree on #10 with a long uphill approach.  I usually have to hit a cut around the tree, but that angle is directly into the prevailing wind and the ball is usually short; and if it doesn't cut, then I'm on grassy mounds with a pitch from an awkward lie and ball below my feet.  When I try to draw the ball around the tree, the ball doesn't draw enough and I'm in a bunker with a 20-30 yard shot uphill.  Well, I tried the draw shot with the 7W... had to keep the ball low to avoid branches, and the ball curved nicely back to the green and ended up on the fringe; a shot I would take on this hole any day!!

I think I will keep the PXG 0211 7W but now I wonder if I could hit that club in a lower lofted FW with better consistency than I can with any other brand FW... might have to try.

Well... since my wife is sending her PXG 0211 Driver and 7W with the Evenflow Riptide shaft in Senior flex back to PXG, I thought I'd give them a try.

I played her 0211 7W (had to share it) for most any long shot from the fairway.  I had no trouble with any lie, even those nasty downhillers I get so often.  At 21º and the senior flex shaft it launched higher than my 17º hybrid and carried further.

... How can anyone not love this game? There is always something new to learn. Something new to try. Something to help us get better. Some of it doesn't work ... he!! most of it doesn't work long term ... but when it does it can be magical. Congrats on finding something new that makes you a better player. 🤗

Well... since my wife is sending her PXG 0211 Driver and 7W with the Evenflow Riptide shaft in Senior flex back to PXG, I thought I'd give them a try.

May I ask, what did PXG charge for shipping the two clubs? I went to checkout and they want $60 to ship. Which gave me pause as it seems a bit excessive. I purchased irons and 3 wood from them 2 years ago and I don’t remember them charging that much.

If you use some places they can help with shipping. Discountdans comes to mind as a retailer who helps with pxg shipping costs but might take longer to get your clubs.

Callaway currently has it but you have to use it towards Rogue products. Wouldn’t work with apex I do not believe.

Sure you don't want to talk about weight loss and working over here??  HAHAHA

That’s been their standard price for awhile. It’s also a lot more to ship now than 2 years ago too.

When she bought the driver and 7W about 3 weeks ago, shipping was $18.  To reorder now with correct shafts, the shipping charge is $60.  The rep said shipping charges have gone up, but I agree that seems excessive.

Even with PXG's good prices now, that's a healthy adder, and now she's thinking about shipping them back, pay the restocking fee, and looking elsewhere.  There really is no guarantee that even with the the "correct" shaft, she would gain much over her 8-year old clubs.  Time to shop locally.

Yeah PXG dropped the price to $18 a few months back from $60 but it has gone back up to $60. In that period of time has has skyrocketed as has shipping fees across the board. We as consumers have to pay more for shipping charges now. Like everything the costs eventually gets passed to the consumer. This is just the beginning

Thinking about a hybrid in the 24* area. For some brands that's a 5h, for some a 4h. But I want it to replace my 5i so I'll go driver/hywood/24* hybrid/6 iron. I don't play a lot of very long courses and I want something that'll give me a little more help on longer shots towards the green.
