They are good wedges.  I bought a 49º Edison when I was looking for a new gap wedge; it plays very similar to my old SCOR 50º.  The V-sole does take some getting used to if you have never played one; spend some time with it.

I would still be playing it, but when I started playing my Macgregor VIP V-Foil blades I loved the feel of them for shots into the green.  I am now using the Mac PW as my gap wedge since it's 48º.  😂

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Looking at second hand Titleist TS2 5 woods to replace my current gamer, which has turned into a hook monster. Really like my TS2 7 wood, and love the fact that loft adjustments can be achieved without changing the lie angle

Many ideas floating around right about now. Rapsodo for some slightly more engaging net/range practice, something to fit between the 4 hybrid and 3 wood as I have the 3 hybrid and old 3 wood though neither feels perfect (Callaway UW at 19 seems interesting or a 5W maybe), and maybe some new wedges to get some better gaping at the bottom of the bag. Decisions decisions

I got the grudging approval from the wife yesterday…I’m officially in the market for a new driver!

That said, I likely won’t buy until late fall.  I’m on a long layoff from speed training and regular practice right now due to this move so I’ll want time to get things back in shape.  Already thinking about TSR, might kick the tires with PXG, who knows.  Biggest concern is finding where to get fit…

Yep, TSR looks good - I am only awaiting the announcement that they are rolling out to us mortals.

Also, PXG just opened a fitting center about 5 miles from my house... as the local network channels are beating into my head during their commercial breaks... so I may inexplicably find myself walking through their door soon.  I have previously gamed the 0811X Proto driver, the 211 Driver, along with the 0341 XF 3 wood.  Annoying commercials... good equipment.

As I often do,  I have putters on my mind so I am selling off some of my backups to fund a new purchase.  🙂

What am I going to get???   Who knows,  but it will most likely be a plumbers neck as I think I want to experiment with a graphite shaft and shaft over hosel putters  seriously limit the possible shafts.    Don't want a stability shaft;  had one and want to try something different.

Thinking about wedges.  The MIMs are starting to wear down to the point I'm noticing a real lack of bite in dewy AM rounds.

Leaders in the clubhouse so far are SM9s or Glide 4.0s.... but I need some time with each, plus see what else I need to try.  Also wouldn't rule out some SM8s if I can find them new.

Feeling similar right now lately everything has been rolling out much more than expected with the wedges. It either that or maybe a rapsodo as I would like to get a bit more out of my range/net practice

... I can't imagine they are much different then the previous models, other than cosmetics. Lighter foam so a hair more ball speed and forgiveness perhaps. The DHy continues to be one of the most versatile clubs in my bag. As I have said before I find it an excellent combination of an iron and a hybrid in one club. My only tiny regret is I wish I would have bought the #2 instead of the #3.

I really like my Titleist U510.  It’s great off the tee and on 2nd shot for par 5s.  It’s a 2 iron but very forgiving.

I have raised the loft of my 21 degree hybrid to sort out the gap between my 3FW and my 5 iron.   I am very happy so far.

... Nice. I am very intrigued by the Titleist U505 and saw one in mint condition for $179 I would need to resift as it had an x-flex but planned on buying it. By the time I finished looking around the PGA SS and came back to pick it up ... it was gone. I figured that was a sign. 🤪

I demo’ed the U505 and the U510.  The former with the Titleist rep.  With a custom shaft it was pricey.  I saw virtually no distance difference with the 510.  The 505 was more workable and the dispersion was a bit tighter, but the used 510 was a lot cheaper vs a 10-12 week wait, so went 510.
it’s my first DI in the bag and it’s great.

Still want (I don’t need but definitely want 😂) a new putter potentially with a hotter face and want to try on of the various graphite shafts (not a Stability Shaft as I have already tried one of those).  Looking at my putting numbers from my Shot Scope H4 (one of the ongoing forum tests) and I left 93% of my putts short.

I was looking at a Ping vault 2.0 Dale Anser since they are relatively inexpensive but knowing that Ping does lots of proprietary things I called and the tip size is a .345 so it would require some significant effort to fit the shaft.   Leading contenders would be an Odyssey RSX 001 or something from the Metal X Milled line but finding one in good condition isn’t easy.  A boutique maker like TP Mills, Carbon, Piretti, Lajosi, Byron, or the newer Instagram based manufacturers would be nice but they seem to be going for super premium $ and not sure I want to go to high on the head and then add the shaft price.  Scotty’s are okay and what I may end up with just due to the number available.  Part of me wants to go mallet but I don’t typically putt well with a mallet and few have a plumbers neck/straight shaft which is necessary for a graphite shaft.

anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for a new putter?

I think the new cobra putters are still a steel face, not sure if the SIK milling slows them down at all like the Evnroll tech. Ping unfortunately likely has the most options between the Vaults and Hepplers out there. Good luck on the search.

My choices in odyssey typically a lean toward the milled faces and not the inserts. I have an RSX 002 that I could use, but not sure I want to take it apart since it was a non retail putter.  Unless I get head only, I am going to have to do some shaft swapping

My choices in odyssey typically a lean toward the milled faces and not the inserts. I have an RSX 002 that I could use, but not sure I want to take it apart since it was a non retail putter.  Unless I get head only, I am going to have to do some shaft swapping

I get that, but you mentioned a slightly hotter face and I feel like I get that from the insert, but still with a soft feel.  Maybe it’s just me…

Since 1 irons were 14-16 degrees of loft does that mean you or want a driving /utility iron? Or do you want an old school 1 iron?  😁

I agree I have some pipe that needs cutting and I think that might be sharp enough to get the job done.

Thinking about a 7w. My new three wood goes so straight. I’ve never had this much confidence with a fairway wood. If I get to my home course and and still hooking my 3H it may be time to move to a 7 wood.

So recently I bought a Cobra Big Tour 3 wood to tinker with. Turns out I love it, no matter if it's from the deck or off the tee, it just hits straight missiles. The regular 3 wood is just behind it in terms of distance but I can't keep two 3 woods and a driver in the bag. My ball striking is getting back to where it used to be so I'm considering removing the hybrids, getting a 19° or 20° utility iron, and going with a 4 wood to bridge that gap. I love my Cobra fairways but they don't make a 4 wood and changing the loft on my 3 wood has the face looking way too closed. It's hard because I love the clubs I have but the gaps just don't make sense up there anymore.

... Joking aside, I think most 1 irons were traditionally 17* although I am sure some were lower. But comparing an old school 17* 1 iron (that many said was impossible to hit well) to a current 4 iron like the 18.5* Rogue Max or Stealth is pretty crazy. While there are few downsides to loft jacking, this is one of them. Most Am's struggle hitting a 22-24* 4 iron and find more success with a hybrid but a 18.5* 4 iron is a club meant for wrapping a towel around more than actually playing it.

Part of me wants to go mallet but I don’t typically putt well with a mallet and few have a plumbers neck/straight shaft which is necessary for a graphite shaft.

anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for a new putter?

you can sand down one of the aftermarket graphite shafts that fit plumber neck putters to fit that Ping. might sound like a lot to sand, but the tip material thickness on aftermarket putter shafts is so thick, you won't weaken it. i'm making the assumption your starting point would be one of the 0.355" aftermarket shafts if you going down the route of this project.

I knew I could  sand it down, but quite a few are only available in .370 and that seemed like a push.  might be why I don’t see many Ping putters with graphite shafts; other than what Ping produces.   I am kind of in the chicken/egg stage….do I pick a head first which may limit the shafts or pick an shaft which may limit the head. Ideally I go with a .370 bore since most graphite putter shafts seem to be be available with that tip.  I guess the other option is to ream the putter hosel to either size.

LAGP, Fuji, MMT all have 0.355" options (in the case of Fuji it comes as a 0.355" and you have to tip trim to fit a 0.370"). the main putter shaft brand that i can think of that is only 0.370" is Accra.

but yeah, definitely get what you are saying. its mainly Ping being Ping and having to have some different tip size and Scotty plumber neck's which use 0.355". pretty much everything else is 0.370"
