Much better at getting different distances with my irons than my hybrid. Hybrid does one thing for me...High and 210, not complaining but would be nice to have something that covers a gap and could pull out in wind or to make some short of shot. MattWillGolf
I’m looking at replacing my sand wedge with one from Edison Golf. The initial online fit reply suggested a 50, 55, and 60 degree wedges. I submitted my information and waiting to see if they reply. I do like their approach to the wedges. I plan only going with the 55 degree one though. I am happy with how I hit the 50 degree wedge in my Ping G25 iron set. If the wedge works for me I may add the 60 degree wedge later. GaryF
Mentioned previously looking for new irons and compared Ping 425, Recoil 760 Es R, Titliest T300, Tensei AV AM(2) and Mizuno JPX 921 HM, Recoil ESX 460 F3. I’m going to pursue the 921s as I was getting the carry that I was seeking. However, spin was less than desirable at 4574 avg and shallower descent (don’t have the number). However, after driving 2 hrs and not doing my normal 20 min yoga stretches, felt a little off with the swing. Question: is there a recommended 7i backspin and descent? The sales person at pga SS seemed very knowledgeable, and wasn’t pushy, but he felt those numbers should ideally be around 5000 rpm. He did point out I was hitting the chrome soft LS and recommended I bring the ball I play next time. I believe some good numbers for backspin and decent should be around 5-6k spin and 40*-50* decent angle. That being said, these are likely very rough numbers and I may be wrong but I am sure some of the other spys will be able to give you a more in depth answer. In doing a little more reading, it appears the optimum numbers are a function of swing speed which makes sense. For the 7i, the SS was 72-73, maybe 74 on a few . This puts me at the I high end of the “slow” range for a 7i. For the Ping and Titliest I recall having around 5000 rpm and I think approx 40deg descent. I think the launch was around 17-19 deg. Mizuno has same SS, 2-3mph faster ball speed and I think around 37 deg descent and as I mentioned, just under 4600 rpm. This Jan/feb, barring any injuries, I plan to work the gym pretty hard to build back core strength. Flexibility and range of motion is pretty good but always room for improvement. Grand Stranded
I’m going to try something crazy, because I can’t seem to leave well enough alone. After struggling a bit with my iron play, I’ve been playing a set of Halo Launcher XL hybrid style irons this summer and they’ve been working out wonderful. Most people would be ecstatic with the results I’ve had, and content with the difference they’ve made to my game, but apparently I’m not most people. I spoke to my daughter this morning and asked her to box up and ship my set of PXG XP irons down from Long Island. Why? Because I played with a guy the other day who had a set of them in his bag. What’s funny is he struggled with them all day and was intrigued by my Halo irons. I couldn’t stop looking in his bag though, and thinking how great the XP’s looked at setup compared to what I was playing. If he was lefty I could have hit a few balls with them and either would’ve scratched that itch, or realized why I’d moved into the Halos, but that wasn’t to be, so here I am hoping to get the PXG’s back in my bag again by the end of next week. One more thing… I also bought a G410 5 wood this morning because I’ve been shooting darts with my 3 hybrid and we can’t have that, now can we? Why do I (we) do sh*t like this? He said not as much as people think. its about finding what’s more comfortable. But as you have seen on my other posts I’m a fan of higher lofter woods for the average golfer. Me too - I am for most golfers and I would remind that I'm an above average player - however the old bat speed has slid a bit and of course I have the typical better player shallow AoA. I do better with more loft in general quite honestly. edingc, Rickp and RickyBobby_PR 3 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

What are you looking for distance wise out of the club between this and your driver? What will the purpose be for this club? Option off the tee? Second shot into par 5s? Something else. Grand Stranded
19 hours ago, Grand Stranded said: I’m going to try something crazy, because I can’t seem to leave well enough alone. Why am I quoting myself? This is more than a little embarrassing, but also kind of funny in a senior moment kind of way, and I think everyone might get a good laugh out of this story. My daughter called me this morning and she couldn’t find the PXGs I talked about yesterday. I was going crazy trying to remember where I could have left them, then I remembered… I sold them a few months ago. The only reason I ended up remembering was I noticed @Rickpleft a reaction to my post yesterday. He and I talked about working something out with them at the time.and If Rick hadn’t left that reaction, I’d have still been going crazy trying to remember where they were! So I guess I owe him a thank you? edingc
Hybrids and shafts for one and my Cobra Utility. Thinking about a PXG Proto with a Motore XB shaft. Or really any hybrid that I can get flatter and/or weight in toe. Leaning toward SteelFiber i110 for my Utility to match my iron feel. The Recoil I have in it currently is fine but it's a little dead feeling to me. Probably a winter project.
