edingc 7,805
Had the shop build me up this from the Callaway demo cart while I was at the range today - Numbers looked pretty good with range balls, and I really liked the MMT, though I think I'd go up to the 105 if I could for a bit more weight: This was more of an experiment to try out the MMT than anything else, but, man, did this thing feel pretty nice. 9 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 9.7 (Last Updated Nov. 27, 2020) Driver: Callaway Mavrik (9°), 45.75", Aldila Rogue White 60 (130 MSI) X-Stiff 17° Hybrid: Callaway Super Hybrid, 41.5", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 18.5° Driving Iron: Cobra KING Utility (2016 Model), 39.5", Mitsubishi MMT Utility 105 TX 21° Hybrid: Callaway Epic Flash, 40", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 4-AW: Sub70 699 (4-6)/699 Pro (7-AW) Combo Set, 1° Flat, 37" 7 Iron, Mitsubishi MMT Taper 105 TX 54°, 58°: Cobra KING MIM Black, 1° Flat, -1/4", Mitsubishi MMT Wedge 105 TX Putter: L.A.B. juspoole 1,599
Thinking about a different utility iron. I switched my MP 18 SC 4 iron for the MP 20 HMB that I thought might be a little more forgiving, but have found that I really do not hit it as well. Even though it was the top dog on the MGS list, i find that I tend to hook the ball with this club. Normal shot shape is a slight fade so it's puzzling to me. Considering either different shaft or maybe a Srixon ZU85 that can be found for around $90 bucks from Global Golf for a lefty. Not sure yet, may go to the club and have them look at lie of it first. Possibly it's way too upright? 4 Quote Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 9* (Set to 10) Ventus Blue 6X 3 Wood: 917F2 Fujikura Pro 84 Tour Spec S 3 Hybrid: 818 H2 Hybrid Tensei Blue 80 X Irons 4-PW: MP 18 SC Dynamic Gold AMT X Gap/Sand Wedge: Vokey SM6 49* SM8 54* Lob Wedge: Jaws 5 Wedge 58* DG Tour Issue Stiff Putter: Inovai 6.0 Pro Platinum Newport 2 35"
Popular Post PMookie 12,488
Texted the Honma rep about my desire to possibly go more forgiving in the irons. Texts me back that we could go TR21 X 4-5, TR20P 6-7, and keep my TR20V 8-10. If I can hit more greens, I can score better! Not sure it will happen, but I’d love to try it and see.... ... Pretty much a different way of saying something I have been preachin' for many years now "Play the most forgiving irons you can effectively play". That statement means different things to different players. ... Tiger needs complete control of every shot he hits moving the ball right or left and low or high, so effectively his most forgiving irons are MB's. He of course is in a very, very rare class of players. I played with the #1 D1 player on his team in Orlando looking to make it on tour and he played Titleist CB's because they gave him the control he needed with some added forgiveness that he figured saved him at least 2 shots or more every round. Other low index players can play a multi material players iron that still allows control of ball flight but does not move the ball quite as much as MB's or CB's with just a hint of forgiveness but that also means a slight face error at contact will not curve as much away from the target and of course provides even more forgiveness. For me the King Tours and T100S fall into this category. ... Then you move into GI and SGI irons and depending on how you play, they may be perfect for your game even if you are a low index player. Knowing your miss is key to choosing the right irons and of course if your miss is everywhere on the face and all over the course, you need the most forgiving irons you can get your hands on. Edit: As Pmookie is contemplating above, a split set can be ideal for a wide range of players, especially much more forgiving long irons. Thankfully most OEMs are offering irons designed to be mixed and matched starting with blade like short irons, more forgiving players like mid irons and GI long irons. 6 Quote Driver: TaylorMade SIM Max ... B.Boston 9,338
I think one of these is going to be installed on the putter soon. I LOVED the Pistolero I had on my Newport and the nice full top hand. The Evnroll Pistol has been fine for the past year, but I’m ready to go ahead and grab one of these. I’ll probably go 104cc, but TBH the 140cc felt pretty damn good too. I might just have to see if they can blow them on so I can try both before deciding. I think I got a chance to look at every pistol putter grip except the Iomic Classic mid... or something like that. Nothing else came close to the Pistolero’s pronounced top like this SNSR contour. 6 Quote #COBRACONNECT CHALLENGE 4 ALUMNUS Speedzone Driver 10.5 - Ventus Blue 6X Speedzone 5-wood - Ventus Blue 8S Speedzone 4-Hybrid - KBS Proto 85S KING Forged Tec 5-GW - PX LZ 6.5 KING MIM Black 52.12 Classic, 56.10 Versatile, 60.04 Widelow - Nippon Modus 125 Wedge ER2B Pro V1x vs MTB-X vs Tour B X NX9 HD Slope #cuetheduckboats
