Its different than what i will call a standard heavy counterbalanced grip. That metal thing at the bottom is a 100 gram weight, concentrated at the very bottom of the grip. In my mind, it feels different than a heavy grip where the weight is distributed throughout, or from a grip where there is a counterbalance weight at the very butt end of the grip/shaft. Smoothed out my putting stroke so I don't hit at the ball anymore, which has made my lag putting distance control better. Also less yippy on short putts. I think this may be a way to trick swing weight as well! I am going to put it on the swingweight scale later today, i have a basic one lying around. I'm predicting that the swingweight scale will show it as being light, because i think swingweight is measured as the balance 14" down the shaft. So given the weight is around 11 or 12" down the shaft, its on the grip side of the balance point. However, given the weight is underneath where hands are placed on the grip, it makes the area under the hands feel heavier (i equate that feel as head feeling heavier) without actually adding mass to the putter head. GolfSpy BOS
The testing opportunity for sub70 has me thinking about hybrids. Not sure I 100% like the shaping of that one though. cnosil
Putters are still on the brain. The discussion on armlock as gotten me trying armlock putters which I have concluded isn’t for me; too much forward lead and can’t seem to get in a comfortable setup posture. I tried the Evnroll Midlock in different lengths and this style is better with less forward press but still not perfect. Switched to left hand low and the gap between my left wrist and the grip seems pretty narrow so I may try the superstroke wrist lock grip on a new putter. Saw some interesting putters on eBay and I contacted the putter maker and we are discussion making a mini putter. Always like the look of minis, but the practical side is saying maybe beef it up a bit and get something between a mini and a short blade length. Going to be a fun experiment. If you're still in the hunt for a hybrid without the draw bias, I'd look at the TS3. It has come down in price with the TSi hybrids, has no draw bias, and adjustable to really dial in loft and lie...highly recommend. Of course, you could always spring for the newer release from Titleist that has the same properties, just different weight system and heftier price tag. morbius36
Does considering Pinemeadow irons with graphite shafts count as thinking about it? I know I can buy lots of other irons for the same $300 but I'm not really very good yet and I want something that is more reasonable in price. I even had the old 818h1 that I liked a lot before getting the Speedzone. I know the H2 was even more fade biased... but I prefer the rounded shape of the H1 in them. With the flip-able weight and hosel adjustments that was enough to keep me from overcooking them. The only thing I'll have reservations about is I'm kind of a big believer in Cobra's rails on the sole now. My contact with the fairway and hybrid were unusually crisp last year. Just need to keep the hybrid from overturning. OR you know... maybe I need to get a lesson. If you're not stuck on Pinemeadow and are open to used clubs (and maybe lightweight steel instead of graphite), I'd recommend looking around a bit. Used clubs from big name OEMs will likely be better quality, and they'll have at least a bit of resale value when you're ready to bump up to something better/newer when you improve.
