What equipment are you thinking about?

I took some time to hit the Srixon ZX7 Mark II and Mizuno Pro 223 7 irons yesterday.  Both are amazing.  The difference between the two was just a matter of feel and the 223’s spins a few hundred RPMs more than the ZX7’s.  Peak height, landing angle, and carry differences were negligible.

They are just better on my feet as the toes are spread out.  Now I cannot attest to the longer distance & all those other alleged attributes occurring for me but they are comfortable.  I suffer from foot issues also so these shoes have helped.  My original Sqairz are a little heavy when walking a course compared to other competitors shoes but not clogs. My last Sqairz purchase was a mesh hybrid type that offered the same foot profile in a lighter shoe & I think these will be the ticket for walking my course.  I do not know about H2O proof on the mesh but the earlier pair stood up well to early morning rounds.  I love Sketchers but Sqairz were way better for my feet. Prior to Sqairz I was a fan of Tru Links (?) the shoe pro Ryan Moore was famous for. They had a wider toe profile but not like Sqairz.  Tru Links were more the real light weight you could wear on & off the course all day kind of shoe. I believe Sqairz tells you to buy 1/2 to 1 size large than normal & I found that is accurate.  My buddy buys off Amazon in a bunch of sizes & returns what doesn't fit for him. I purchased direct from Sqairz during Holiday sales. Good luck.

This cart bag shopping is stressing me out.  It's kind of funny, but this feels like more of a commitment than clubs...whatever I get I'm likely married to for 5 years minimum. 

The main reason I want a cart bag is for it to sit better in my ClicGear cart...I hate the twisting and the leg-rattling of my stand bag.  Other than that, I love my stand bag, and it's just now dawning on me that a cart bag might not be terribly friendly or as convenient as a stand bag for range sessions...?

If I do get a cart bag, I think I have it narrowed down to a Sun Mountain C-130, or a Ping Pioneer.  I really like the idea of 15 dividers on the Pioneer so I can have a slot for the Stack club, Orange Whip, alignment sticks, whatever.

... Well let me add to your stress.    Be sure and see how the handles work when the cart bag is titled like it will be on your Clicgear. When tilted on your push cart you have your wedges on the low side which is the opposite side with a riding cart. Some cart bags like the C130 have a handle so the wedges don't go in all the way and slide around on top of the hand rail causing noise and unnecessary bag chatter. Fwiw, I use the Sun Mountain Sync that was designed to work with a push cart.

Picking a bag is definitely a difficult thing to do.   You have to consider storage, how it sits on the cart,  how accessible the clubs are when the bag is on the cart, and like you mentioned, and how easy is it to transport when you go to the range to practice.

Also been curious to try FootJoy Tour Alpha shoes.  Anyone have those?  The idea of the plastic molded frame around the heel is very intriguing to me for stability.

I have a pair of Tour Alphas (laces NOT BOA) and will say that you must make sure they fit your feet initially as they do not get "looser" after break-in period.

The toe box is a little narrower and I ended up going to a wide for that reason.

Not the lightest shoe, but they are very stable in all conditions I have worn them in, including a couple of rainy days on the course.

I would offer that you should add the SQAIRZ Bold to your list. I was a tour alpha fan until I tested the SQAIRZ.

Finally got a chance to try on the FJ Tour Alphas, the new Hyper Flex Carbon, and the Premiere.

All three were amazing.  FJ does a great job of having a wide sole, even if the actual foot width is narrow.  I don’t know if that makes sense, but it’s like the actual sole of the shoe is substantially wider than the top of the shoe where your foot goes in.

The Tour Alphas were exactly what I thought they’d be.  That plastic molded heel cup is so stable and secure.  I think I’ll end up going with those because of that.   That combined with the wide base made it feel like I literally couldn’t get outside of my lead foot.  I’d have to manufacture something crazy for that to happen.

The Hyper Flex Carbon were extremely comfortable.  They just didn’t do the heel cup as well as the Alpha.

The Premiere is amazing all around.  Such a timeless looking shoe.  I really could buy any of the three and have no regrets about any of them.

Looks like I’m finally moving away from Adidas golf shoes after 13+ years.

Be careful get rid of a good putter, a month from now it could be your go to….I’ve regretted many getting rid of many putters.

My 6i shaft is on my mind. When I bought it my set was matching 7-AW and I found individual 6i on Callaway pre-owned site in 4 or 5 options. I thought hard about getting the one with TT Elevate 95 shafts to match the rest of my set. Ultimately I decided the 6i in my set plays like my driving iron used to when I carried a 24° one basically in that yardage slot of my gapping. So I settled on a +1" TT XP 95 after reading reviews on the launch, trajectory and performance. Bonus that iron was cheaper than the one that matched. 

Fast forward 18 months I am playing my set better each time I use it, but the ferrule broke on the 6i. This requires the equivalent of golf cosmetic surgery, somewhat tedious and only for appearances. I emphasize the club plays fine on its own and in relation to the club above and below it in my setup. But it's broken.

Great psychology trial for an erratic golfer. Try not to notice something is broken on your equipment. 

So this raises the question if I have my club fitter fix a ferrule for $25-30 should I just spend $50 and have my 6i match the rest of my iron set?

Do you feel ,like there is a difference between the 6 and the rest of your irons you want to correct?  Is the 6 causing problems?  If not, no reason to change the shaft.

The one that gets mentioned the most for no-hooking hybrids are Ping. They can be turned flat with their sleeve and face open really helping them to not hook. Worth a look.

Also, PXG. My 0211 hybrid is about as anti-left as you can get with the sleeve turned flat. I believe you can go 3 degrees flatter if you need to.

The answer is no, not affecting playability at all. Hit it on the number often, and lose 15 yds on my most common toe miss.

So I'll continue to play it as is until it does.

Now that we're getting closer to good weather, I'm thinking about...well, nothing.  And everything, all at once!  I'm just getting a little itchy, y'know?  Driver is safe, but everything else at the top of the bag down to about the six iron needs to be sorted out.  Just not sure which direction to take, might be more a matter of finding a really good deal on something and building around that.

I don't need them, but someone local to me is selling a couple of Callaway hybrids. I don't want the hybrids, but they have Tour AD Hybrid shafts in them that I want to try for much less than the shaft cost. Im tempted to grab them and use the shafts in my PXG to try them out.

It is time to replace the oldest clubs in my bag, my Callaway MD3 wedges (54 and 58’). I am waiting for my work bonus to arrive. I’m leaning towards Sub 70 TA III wedges. I emailed them and they can build them with the BB and F Co. ferrules I already have to give them that touch class.
