You saved $500! Maybe you should get a new Cobra Putter since you saved so much!

I laugh when I check out at Kohl’s with two tee shirts and a pack of socks and the receipt is like “you saved $78.35 shopping with us today!” Like when was this tee shirt ever not $9.99?

Hopefully she won't suggest that you use the saved $500 on jewelry.

Probably not...

I’m carrying 12.

For me its definitely a product of not hitting the ball as far as I used to and then also finding that since I grew up at a time where there were big gaps between wedges I'm more comfortable, wait for it.... with a big gap between my wedges - simpler is better has become my motto on the bottom end.

I did notice that Patrick Reed has a gap with his wedges and only uses two for all of his chipping and pitching.

Tour Exotics 3 wood is in the bag because we are allowed 14 clubs.  It's a great club for pulling balls out of the water or from bushes - you never want to put your hand into anything in Florida unless you are absolutely certain that it's safe.  There are rare wind conditions when I might hit it off the tee on a few holes that I play.

Bonus!  Which shaft did you end up with?

I went with the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 60 6.0. It works really well for me at keeping the spin down. I also tried the Fujikura Motore X F3 6 which was not as consistent for me.

It’s amazing how a round can derail all based on a thought. Same can be said with equipment I can play just as crappy with the original golf club as my set now guarantee it!

... Yup, let one new swing thought creep into your mind when swinging well but looking to get just a liiiiiitle bit better and the whole thing can fall apart. Crazy game.

I don't know why but something about the MIzuno ST-Z Driver caught my eye.  Maybe it was Keith Mitchell last week who knows but $400 for a driver with some of those shaft upgrades for $0 is Reeeeeaaaallllly tempting...

... Easy for me to say because I have never played a Ping driver, but I see so many really good players hit the 400 series so dammed good. One of my biggest personal gripes is the sound but the guy I played with Monday had hot melt in his G400 and it sounded awesome while watching it sail high, far and straight. But I certainly understand the itch...

Sound and feel go together like smell & taste.

When I was fit for my 3wood I took 10 swings with my 400 and I was mid 160’s, low 2’s for spin and that right there told me I was just about maxed.

It was nice validation knowing it’s in its fourth season.

Undersized grips.

I have small hands to begin with, and the butt diameters of the MMT are slightly larger (.606) than previous shafts I've played. Haven't measured yet, but guessing I'm at least 1/64", if not 1/32", oversized with my .600 round Lamkin Sonars + painter's tape. Been struggling to find a good grip on the club lately, always seems to want to work into my left palm and it feels like I can't close my fingers around the shaft enough.

Looking at Star Sidewinders as I know I could completely eliminate the tape to get the size down as much as possible. Also not terribly expensive, in stock and only six grams lighter. But 14/15 clubs x $7 is still ~$100. Might have to experiment with a few first.

I swear that I am not trying to reply to everything you post. But I also have smaller hands and have thought of this but have found the current MCC+4 standard to be ok size size but that butt diameter could be an issue. I know you regrip with air, but is there anyway to stretch the grip. PING offers this for their grips with tape and solvent where they add a bit more tape and pull the grip further down the shaft to thin it out a bit. Might be just enough and save some money, if not saving any time since I am sure air is faster and cleaner.

I am looking hard at the Ben Hogan PTx Pros for absolutely no reason other than they are beautiful to look at. My first new set of irons that I bought with my money were Hogan EDGE CFTs and I loved them. I have no problem with my current irons and they are one length which has worked out pretty well for me but damn those hogans look great. I do wonder if I am good enough to hit them and I know if I demo them and hit it even decently then it is game over, I'm getting them. It's so dumb because I feel like I finally got over liking clubs purely based on how they look and now I am going back down that rabbit hole again. Maybe I should stay off golf equipment message boards...

Yeah, I'd have to use tape/solvent. Not 100 percent opposed to that (and I have all of the supplies), but it's messy. Definitely an option to try though. The wedges would be good candidates - they have even thicker butt ends and are very tough for me to feel good holding.

Have some thinking to do.

I wear a cadet small so I’m always curious if I should be in an undersize grip. There’s def not a big of a selection in that size. But I really like the sonars right now.

Measured last night and, sure enough, they are about +2 wraps on the irons (nearly .920) and even a bit larger on the wedges. I measured an old wedge I have laying around (which feels better, but maybe still too large) and it's .900.

@dlow206 was nice enough to send some undersized grips at shipping cost, so I'll have a few to experiment with. If the size feels better, I will most definitely go through with replacing them. This one would even match the AutoFlex!

(I'm not joking. I'd be one to play hot pink on everything. They do have black, blue and white, but those just seem so boring!)

Just pulled the trigger on a new set of Honma T/W X irons, they're being closed out by Honma and you can now find them at a reasonable price (under $600) on ebay. Played one round with them on a bad knee, still felt sweet. Oh well, but it's knee surgery next week and a couple of months rehab before I get to really try them out.
