What equipment are you thinking about?

I love the Epic Max LS. Although it is supposedly fade biased, i hit a beautiful draw with it with the Autoflex. (the draw is probably do to some swing improvements, but i will give some credit to the equipment as well)

The guys i played with recently (play with them periodically) named the shaft "Autodraw". Probably hit 10 good solid draws in the fairway in my last round.

I think the weight track helps with that too, but even in neutral I didn’t saw less fade bias than my speedzone.  Such a sweet driver, still at the top of my wish list!

I think that comes from the lie angle, the Max LS is at 57 which is two degrees flatter than the standard Max at 59. And a quick look has it about as flat as it gets. Just the Mizuno ST-Z is flatter at 56.5 so I think that is what they mean.

Saw on a reddit group that Garmin just released a launch monitor. Initially thought it was a better deal than the Mevo that I already have and was thinking of putting mine up for sale and buying the Garmin. However someone on that reddit forum says a lot of the data is calculated like the Skytrak based on charts. Anyone have any thoughts on the Garmin LM?

EDIT: Just pre-ordered from Amazon (sold by Golfio, a local authorized distributor here in SoCal which I can visit if there are any issues. I also see playbetter.com is taking pre-orders as well) so will be waiting to see and test against the Mevo.

Wedges and wedge lofts. Trying to buy myself a short game, really. I've been miserable from inside of 100 yards, and I have a lot of second shots from the 30-75 yard range as a lot of holes at my course are tee shot/wedge.

Tried working on a clock system at the range but I think it's too mechanical and making things worse. I have at least one birdie in nine of my last 10 rounds (good!) but am leaving a lot of other short opportunities outside of 50 feet of the flag lately, which leads to long two-putt par saves or needing to chip back up if the ball ends up off the green. Looking at Lou Stagner's work, from 75 yards pros are inside of 30 feet 8/10 times. I'd be ecstatic with 5/10!

Considering replacing the 58 with a 60 degree to give me a little more loft. Also have contemplated dropping the set AW (50 degrees) and going 48/54/60.

Probably should just spend the money for a short game lesson and not the wedges...

... For me at least, this is the backbone of a practice round. Playing alone I will hit one or two tee shots, then one or two approach shots. But I will always drop multiple balls from 90-30 yds in and practice those shots. I can always practice my putting/chipping if needed on a practice green, but it is rare to get an opportunity to practice partial wedge shots. Then I just pick up all the balls and do it again on the next hole. Usually I don't even play the par 3's, just drop some balls in the short game range and practice my wedges. As you know this is where you can make up or lose strokes and I find on course practice with my normal TP5x balls to be invaluable.

... Good idea! Playing my whole life in the soft Midwest conditions, my short game took place in the air. I only used my LW and it was very reliable. Moving to Phoenix changed everything. The Bermuda grain can be difficult to pitch from and the grain on the green can cause the ball to release or check up and I am still learning how to read and play those shots. But it is much safer to hit a bump and run because the Bermuda can't catch the leading edge if 1/16th of an inch fat which was perfect in the midwest but can just grab the club here in the desert and just stop in the ground. And even then the grain short of the green can release a little or grab the ball but still much more reliable than trying to fly a LW to the hole. If I do have a little grass under the ball from the light rough I can use my LW but that is rare here.

I do a sort of pitch/bump-and-run hybrid game. It's been so wet the last few weeks that I can't really run the ball through the grass because it will just get swallowed up. And, with shorter shots, wet balls and wet club faces, unless I really flop it way up there, I don't generate enough spin to get it to stop quickly. So a lot of times I end up having to play for the ball to land on the fringe and then run on to the green.

A lot of this is just me grumbling. Truthfully I've had some pretty terrible luck with lies lately as well (lots of patchy grass or just plain dirt) that hasn't really allowed me to play the type of shots I would normally want to. It would be better if I hit more than one fairway a round, which I've done twice now in the past week. 🤷‍♂️ The rough is rightfully punishing me.

Omg!!!!!!!

So from the playbetter blog they are saying some metrics are measured and others are calculated. Still at $600 this is much better than a Mevo (not the Mevo+) and almost competitive with some of the big boys. I have pre-ordered one from Amazon as I mentioned and hoping they ship sooner than the expected end of July.

i still have fairway woods on the brain.

i think for the remainder of this season i’m gonna go with a 5w in place of my 2i. i found a tour issue sim2 5w at 18.2* on the bay that’s almost a direct swap for my 2i at 17*. i think the 5w will give me more versatility than the driving iron as well as a little forgiveness.

then next year i’m probably gonna look at changing the top of the bag to a 4w/7w setup. my 3w is just way too long. i hit 3 drives with it yesterday that were well longer than 300. a “shorter” tee club that isn’t much shorter doesn’t help me too much. (i know, i know, no ones crying for me on this one.)

i think 4w/7w will give me great gapping and a lot of options at the top of the bag.

Sounds to me like maybe the Driver needs to go further so you have a good gap from your 3 wood. 😉
