... Since you are fond off the far left side, be sure and demo the HD model. 😇

That's the first one I want to try! Iron striking was really good today during my practice session. Got some left to right ball flight using a drill I hadn't tried yet. With the driver....not so much. But no massive left misses. Gonna keep at it!

Putters are still on my mind.   Have even gone to the stores to try and buy one but can’t find exactly what I am looking for.   With the free putter fitting at CC this month now i want to go and get one based on their social post that said they cost the same as any retail store; unless you upgrade the shaft.   Makes me wonder about what shafts they have to try.

So at this point I have to ask, in all seriousness, what HAVEN’T you tried putter-wise?  Was going to ask you if you’ve looked into Edel…

I don't know about the shafts. But the order I put in for the Edel putter after my fitting a few weeks ago was the same price as it would if I ordered one on Edel's site.

I haven't bought a putter from CC so I wasn't sure if it was like the full swing clubs where there was a premium added on.   I just thought it was interesting that they advertised their free fitting by saying that the price was the same as retail.

Here is the serious answer:

There is tried and tried on an actual course.  You know I am one of the most wanted testers so that exposes me to most of the putters produced by the major OEMs and a quite a few of the more obscure OEMS.   Adam is a putter guy as well and he has an amazing collection of putters.  There used to be a wall of about 100 putters at HQ that were one offs, boutique brands, collectors items, and putters Adam had designed and I think I tried most of them.     Yes,  I have looked into Edel.  They have been part of most wanted and I have also done a separate Edel fitting;  just never pulled the trigger and don't remember the specs.    My mind keeps considering a mallet putter even though I have never putted well with one;  I just feel like I should and that maybe I just haven't given it the right focus.

I think the biggest part of it is that I just want to experiment with putters, weighting, and shafts.   While I know something like a shaft won't make a huge difference short term and it is really a long term minor improvement I want to learn more.   I'd really like to try different weights, materials, and flexes just to see how they impact the putter, face control, and distance control.   The edel fitting was great especially when we experimented with backweighting the putter to dial in distance control.  My next experiment is installing a stroke lab shaft; that I found for a cheap price, in my gamer putter just to see what it does.

New putter? Always a well timed and questionable move to put a new club in the bag in the middle of a match play competition. Well done 😎

Not a new putter....but that does get me thinking!  It's something else i have been thinking about for the last two months.  I have been browsing the bay semi seriously and saw one come up for a good buy it now price.  Well it is a good price if the condition in person matches the pictures.

Stay tuned!  😁

I'm in a unfamiliar frame of mind these days, in that my bag is settled and I'm not currently contemplating any equipment changes. The TSR3 driver is everything I had hoped it would be. I still love the Paradym TD woods. The titleist irons are unbelievable and with the addition of the 48° gap wedge, my wedges are exactly where I want them to be. The only area that might remotely qualify is putter and that is my idle curiosity regarding the LAB putters, but the Odyssey I am currently rolling is really quite adequate. That leaves me thinking about changing the grip on the Scotty Cameron I picked up during the T100s trade-in to a Garsen MAX, so that I can be more comfortable with that putter. The standard pistol grip that came with it is pretty, but functionally useless. Have no fear, I'm sure this period of contentment will soon pass. 🤣

I’m in a similar place. I just got my JPX 921s last fall and I’m just starting to get them dialed in. I really want to swap my PXG driver head for a TSR2 head on the same shaft and I want to get a 50° wedge just to see if that fits my game better. Everything else in my bag is working great.

Not equipment per se, but after purchasing some Adidas Ultimate365 8.5" shorts earlier this year I am looking to add 2-3 pairs with summer mark downs. These are super comfortable and stretchy & seem to run a half size larger than normal. They sell for $70 so if anyone gets a line on a sale in the $40's send it my way please!

Thinking about a 5W or 7W but can’t justify the spending as I am perfectly happy with my current setup and it would be my 15th club… BUT I DESPERATELY WANT A NEW SHINY TOY!

CorruptOnlyGreendarnerdragonfly-size_res

It’s time! End of season deals are in in my area and last year’s models are basically given away😅.

Hesitating between

1) Cobra LTDx 3H (19°) with stiff KBS PGI 85

2) Cobra LTDx 5W (18.5°) with stiff True Temper HZRDUS Smoke iM10 60

3) Cobra LTDX LS 5W (17.5°) with stiff Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw White 75

I hit a few balls with both 5Ws and can’t decide between the two as both had wonderful numbers and felt great.

I did not get to hit the 3H but I initially had that specific club in mind to enter a rotation my TaylorMade Stealth UDI 2i (18°).

HELP!

Keep an eye on Adidas’ website. Once they hit the OUTLET section (and they will soon enough given that fall is just around the corner), they are going to be eligible for constantly renewed additional promo codes between 30 and 50% off.

At least, that’s the pattern on Adidas.ca. I never bought Adidas golf apparel at more than 45 or 50% of the regular pricing.

Not buying anything, but rather utilizing clubs I already possess in a shake up to the top of the bag. Contemplating raising or lower the loft on the 5 & 3 woods to create a 4 wood and then putting the 3 hybrid back in the bag. Might be a fun experiment for the next range session

Not sure why I should even consider buying anything except lessons at this point but I am still searching for the right deal on a back up set of irons and kicking around using my proshop money on a Scotty Newport 2....

I often switch out hybrids and 5 wood or my 58 and 60 degree wedges. Depends on the course and requirements that day.

Makes sense. There are shots that I like the hybrid for, so this seems like a logical approach. Thanks

When I went to a Ping fitting in July I hit a 430G Max 7w and 5w then the rep asked me to try something else that he called a 4w.  It as a 5w head delofted 1* with a 3w shaft.  I ended up ordering it and the results I’m getting are amazing.

Thanks for the info Gary!

I have the Callaway Paradym TD 3 & 5, they are both adjustable and the adapters make them interchangeable. I’ve also kicked around the idea of putting the 3 w head on the 5 w shaft to see what that might do.

I put my D200s back in the bag so I could use graphite shafted irons for a bit after getting some forearm tightness my last couple of rounds... and I almost want to leave them in there. I moved away from them after not having any tennis elbow issues for a while, and I had been hooking them pretty badly for a bit. I went to heavier weight steel shafts in my D7s and that seemed to resolve things. But putting them back in and having a couple of range sessions plus a round... man I forgot how great they were getting through the turf and how consistent they can be. I think the D7s are longer by a few yards across the set, but I'll take better turf interaction and height over distance for sure.

I went for a Cleveland fitting thinking the cbx’s would fit my profile.  Surprisingly the RTX6’s were the clear winner.  Took awhile to receive because of the back order of the recoil 760 shafts but these are amazing.

... This is the exact reason so many of us recommend fittings. It's one thing to have your eye on a club and/or shaft that seems like it will be a great fit and of course sometimes it is, but probably just as often when going to a fitting a different club or shaft performs better. I have experienced this too many times to count. The last example is going to a Taylor Made fitting after narrowing down my choice to a Titleist TSR3. I went to the TM fitting expecting the Stealth2 to be the comparable driver and the last thing I expected was a Stealth 2 HD to outperform the TSR3 for my swing. To plagiarize your declaration "Surprisingly the Stealth2 HD was the clear winner."

... Congrats on your new wedges!

What was nice was the fitter spent a lot of time with both the CBX and RTX6 and trying different shafts.  I had with me my new Mizuno JPX 923s through GW (48*, Recoil 460 ESX F3) that I previously was fitted to and mentioned I was looking for probably a 52* and 56* with intended full swing (and partial) swing use.  I told him I wanted wedges that would blend nicely with the Mizunos.

So I wasn’t paying much attention to the flex, then after my club sent in the order I realized the wedge shafts were F2 flex.  Concerned, I looked up the specs, and discovered the 760’s were within 2grams and almost identical torque as the 460.  So to me, it’s a lot about trusting the process, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

The status of my putter order finally changed from waiting on components. Is says expected delivery is the 26th to 29th which feels like an eternity. But at least it finally moving forward. Also hating Amazon right now as the ferrules I ordered should have been here yesterday and now it says they will arrive between the 18th and 21st so I just have heads and shafts laying around as I had already took the old ones out.

Well, I've been itching to get some variety in my bag recently. I have to get passed the culpability phase as I really want some change but have absolutely zero need for additional clubs.

I'll be going the second-hand route to ease the blow on the wallet and I just realized that I have never ever hit Ping or Titleist clubs for some reason. I just never had the opportunity it feels like!

I'm thinking of getting a Ping G400 driver or 5-wood and a Titleist 816H or 818H 3-hybrid. These clubs are still not cheap on the second-hand market given thsat they're Ping and Titleist. On the other hand, last years Cobra LTDx fairways and hybrids are on sale brand new as of now and at very agressive prices at that... The struggle!

What do you think?
