I hadnt played golf for almost 4 years but had been thinking about building a set of Irons to my specifications, Last week I decided to give it another go and build a set.

  I have always liked the Idea of single length irons but to me they should all be the same head weight and the same Lie in this case 63 degrees, unlike the Cobras.

  I  just bought a set of Tom Wishon EQ1 NX... 5 to SW club heads and I have taken them to the clubmaker here where we have cut the stepless shafts, as I like the look of them, tip trim to 8 iron, then base cut to 36.5". 

We then added tungsten putty to make all of the heads exactly 280g as they are standard at 275g each with a 63 Degree lie angle but there is a 3 gram dispersion allowance in the quality control of the head weights when you get them  although most were spot on at 275g. We added between 5g and 8G to each of the 8 club heads to get to 280 grams exactly.

When we built the first one with the right grip we got a swingweight of roughly D3, I was aiming for anything between D1 to D3 providing they were  all exactly the same swingweight. after allowing for putting  2 wraps of tape on the lower part of the grips to cut the amount of taper on the grips.

First before I began this venture  I tested my swingspeed on trackman with my old 8 iron which measures 36.5 Inches in length and it was between 84 and 86 MPH so that should be good enough to get a decent result with the 5 iron 1 length 24 degree Iron.

The clubs will be totally finished by Tuesday 2nd Nov so weather permitting I will take them to the range for a thorough distance gap test, I expect them to perform really well, even if I dont, lol.  Time will tell

thinking about a 7 Wood.

i never got a long with hybrids, couldn't hit it off the deck, couldn't hit it off the tee. everything was big pull hook, top it, or an occasional weak push. 

along came the 5 wood and its wonderful. still working on hitting it off the fairway, but i hit a high draw or straight ball off the tee with it.

... Nice! While I am beyond pleased with my Cleveland 11S putter, it never hurts to roll a few with a Bettinardi and the roll technology face. So I will be taking a close look at the Inovai 6.0 slant myownself.

I know the feeling. I’m super happy with my Phantom. Good news is the Dicks sports near me has a really strong inventory of Betty’s.

... Interesting. My local Dicks is a glorified Kmart when it comes to golf equipment and barely has any product let alone a boutique brand. 

... I am still in shock that I am playing a $129 putter. I went in last winter expecting to buy a Scotty, Bettinardi or maybe an EvenRoll and tried every slant neck or heel shafted putters. Never looked at the prices as I didn't want it to influence my opinion and the Cleveland was a clear winner. The price was a nice bonus.

Well, his local Dick's is one of the two House of Sports stores in the company, they invested a ton of money in that whole store. It's crazy

@chisagthe store is a masterpiece. 
 

As far as the Cleveland goes…I think there’s a good reason why Odyssey just released the new trihot line which is similar weight tech to the Cleveland.

I noticed that front CG which Cleveland brought out recently, which I am sure someone else did before them. Interested to see how they roll.

That's why I have a Heavenwood instead of a hybrid. Although if I move to hybrid irons next year I'm definitely going to do my best to give the 4i a fair shot.

I have a 5 hybrid & 7 w & hit them similar distance.  When one or the other don’t work I switch, right now 5h is behaving well and in the bag.  Next week who knows.

cobra speedzone 3H. I love the 4H, can control it so we’ll and can switch up distances and way more consistent than the 4I. Need to cover that gap between the 3W
