Are sure it wasn't a scam?? Seems odd, or perhaps the company MGS uses to conduct the survey's provides the prizes? Smells fishy

it appeared on my office PC when I went to open my MGS forum in the Chrome browser....

I hope MGS hasn't been compromised. What email system do you use Foz? Gmail?

Nope, i use icloud.......but the survey came up right after i opended the MGS website using Chrome.....My PC at work was just upgraded to Windows 10.......could that be the culprit?

Possible. Do think either the PC, or your iCloud account or your MGS account has been hacked....

 

First thing is change your password - NOT FROM YOUR PC!

 

I installed Windows 10 over 7 and immediately had some problems - including using the new Edge browser, which I no longer do (use Chrome). Fortunately have a friend nearby who's a tech guru and fixed it all for me.

 

If you have tech support have the PC thoroughly scanned and cleaned.

Thanks, but I don't see how my iCloud email account could be hacked as it was not even online at the time the survey popped up.

 

Simply put, I went to open mygolfspy.com in chrome when the survey thread popped open. There was no email open at the time.

 

Like you cksurfdude, I am only using Chrome.

Hmm. Still appears to me at a minimum your MGS account is compromised..... You ever connect wirelessly, eg. on your phone, from anywhere outside hone or work?

 

Anyway, maybe consider creating a new account in MGS ... but definitely change your password on the current one.

 

Oh, and - where did you receive that survey email? Possible that was a "spoof" mimicking MGS to get you click on a link.

Load malwarebytes and Spybot (both have free versions) and let them do a thorough scan of your computer (malwarebytes first) to get rid of your spyware. There is definitely spyware on your pc.

Work in IT for a living and second this. Definitely go with MalwareBytes first, BUT be sure you only choose to use the free version. DO NOT check the free trial for the pro version.

 

Once it's ran, you may want to go to Add/Remove programs and make sure there's nothing suspicious hanging around.

 

Then, go into settings in Chrome. Check and see if any extensions you are unaware of have made their way in there, then check and make sure they haven't taken over your new tab page or default search page.

Also "CCleaner" from piriform - cleans Windows Registry, in addition to scanning for spyware/malware. Also make sure you get the Free version here, too.
