Kanoito
Hey fellow spies! Lately, I've been hitting my Baffler T-Rail 16* miles (towards the sky). It has no roll at all, I think I even saw the ball spin back once Could you recommend any low-launching 3 woods? Preferably in stock configuration, older model that can be had for pennies now. Just want to tinker with it, so a fitting and paying $250 for a current offering is out of the question. Thanks! PS: I always like to use my Adams Fast 12 LS as an example. Excellent driver with a $300 retail shaft that could be had for $90 brand new. I don't want to break the bank just to tinker... and sometimes a new club is cheaper than the shaft alone. Let me see if I can find the Callaway on the bay... what shaft did you try? Yeah, looking to lower launch and spin for some roll. I see you have a tour AD in your baffler. That shaft launches pretty high. Stiff flex? Also heavier shafts bring launch conditions down. I tried the 2Deep with a Aldila tour green in X. Not exactly a super low launch shaft and it still launched pretty low bc the head was lofted so low. It is basically a 2 wood after all. Its hard to give many suggestions without more info to be honest. Knowing your current shaft stiffness and weight would help. I promise this will launch and spin lower than you GD AD assuming its a stiff lol http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-ALDILA-NV-PROTOPYPE-80-S-335-DRIVER-SHAFT-STIFF-335-46-UNCUT-/252269932529?hash=item3abc75aff1:g:aJsAAOxy63FSsgfr Driver- Tmag 2017 M2 tour issue 8.5* actual loft 7.8* w/ HZRDS Green PVD 70TX" Fairway Metal- Taylormade SLDR Mini Driver 12* w/ Fujikura Rombax TP95-X" Utility- Mizuno MPH5 1 iron w/ Aldila RIP 85X (depending on course/ conditions) Irons- Mizuno MP- FLI HI 2i w/ Aldila Proto ByYou 100X Mizuno MP59 4i-6I w/ PX 6.5 Mizuno MP69 7i-PW w/ PX 6.5 Wedges- Scratch 8620 Driver/Slider set. 50*, 54* bent to 55* and 60* Putter- Taylormade Spider Tour w/ flow neck Ball- Bridgestone Tour B X Bag- Sun Mountain C130 Supercharged
Kanoito
The Tour AD is probably a made for Cobra version. And yeah, it's unbelievably high. It is advertised as a stiff flex, no weight data. I believe this was the stock offering. Did you hit the deep version off the deck or off the tee? I've found a few X2Hot Pro with the Tour Green for under $100 which is not too shabby. Assuming both have the Tour Green and same loft, how much spin difference are we talking about head-wise between the Pro and the Deep? Thanks for the shaft recommendation. I'll see if I can score one in the $50 range. That would still be cheaper than a new X2Hot. Undershooter
From what I've read the baffler is really made to get the ball up in the air and the BD AD helps it to do that. So its meant to really launch it up there. The shaft I posted a link to on ebay is an Aldila Protopype 80S. Its going to launch about as low as anything else out there. At least in my experience. The tour green I mentioned earlier will not launch nearly as low. As for comparing the Pro to the Deep I can't help you much there. I haven't hit the x2hot pro 3wood that I can remember. I only hit the 2Deep because it was a 12.5* fairway wood and there aren't many of those around. I would think either would launch much lower than your Baffler. It just depends if you want a reshaft or an entirely new club. Kanoito
@golfplus1 LTD could be an option next season... let's face it, as much as it hurts, this season is pretty much over... and screwing with new clubs for the last tournaments of the year could prove counterproductive. @jlukes my only concern was hitting a deep-faced club off the deck. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy mobile app Ahina's overall profile does end up being a bit softer but it also depends on the weight you used. The Ahina line is weird bc the shafts get progressively stiffer the heavier the weight. With that said 70S is close to 60x, 80s is close to 70x and so on. I liked the feel of the Ahina alot in the heavier models. The Protopype is a stiffer and lower launch profile overall though. Personally I liked the Fuji Speeder ts line but it never was more than just pretty good for me. What KK you using? I had a 60 or 70x previously and hated it for some reason. Jmikecpa
Aldila makes the Protopype. I thought the heavier black ties were close but not as low. The 80X Ahina launched a little higher but still uber low spin. Sent from my LG-AS990 using MyGolfSpy mobile app Had an 85x in my 3 wood for years and loved it. WITB 2024 Driver: Qi10 LS 9* Ltd. Fireinthehole
Ahina's overall profile does end up being a bit softer but it also depends on the weight you used. Wish I had gotten a hold of a 70TX. AH1980MN
I game an XHot pro 3deep, it launches low and runs out a ton, doesn't hook (much) and feels great. PX stiff shaft. Pretty cheap these days, but if you just want a shaft, look up Arthur Extreme (sp?) They're very nice, and very cheap. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy mobile app Yea both are low/low shafts for sure. It's a little weird to me that you like Silver Tini and not the Ahina though. The KK has a similar bend profile to the Ahina. Actually the KK XT(not the silver tini) profile is almost identical.
