Raw shaft length s300

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm going to rechaft my clubs and was looking at Golfsmith, when you go to pick they only give raw shaft lengths, 41-37.

To make sure I understand correctly, 40.5 is the raw uncut length of a 3 iron? 37 is the raw uncut length for 9, pw, sw, lw?

whoops, sorry, taper tip.

The longest length they offer is 41', I'm guessing thats 2 iron.

Parallel are all the same length? It's then all up to tip and butt trimming?

Yes, parallel tip are all the same length. But, you're going to find that parallel tipped shafts have differing weights and the balance point isn't going to be consistent. Taper tip will have the same weights, and will have similar balance points. I will tell you you won't find a set of parallel shafts on tour. If you take a taper tip shaft and a parallel tip shaft and cut it up into 8 inch sections, the taper tip sections will all weigh close to the same, but the parallel tipped ones will weigh varying amounts, with the tip section being the heaviest.

In taper tip, 41" are 1 iron shafts. From there it goes:

1I=41"

2I=40.5"

3I=40"

4I=39.5"

5I=39"

6I=38.5"

7I=38"

8I=37.5"

9I, PW, SW, LW, XW=37"

Hope it helps.

Perfect! thanks for that, my clubs are taper tip, if they were parallel I wouldn't be attempting to re shaft myself, sounds way too confusing and complicated.
