Golfspy_CG2
So with his collapse down the stretch yesterday Rickie Fowler cost himself an automatic bid to the US Team. if he had finished a solo third or better he would have been in the top eight. Instead his bogey/double bogey/bogey meltdown dropped him to 11th on the points list. So if Captain Love goes with the next four 9 (Bubba Watson) 10 (JB Holmes) 11 (Fowler) 12 (Matt Kuchar) he will make it. The question is with his play this year and his inability to finish, do you trust him to be at his best against the European team. Or if you are in Love's place do you go a bit further down the list and take either Bill Hass (14) or Jim Furyk (15). Furyk has shown stretches of solid golf this summer. I skipped over number 13 Scott Piercy (unlucky 13 ha) as he has had a very good year, but I just don't see him ahead of either Furyk or Hass. As much as I hated seeing Fowler implode, I think I still go with him if I'm Love. He has a pretty strong record in Match Play, and Love showing him the confidence could be just the spark he needs. You know the US fans in Chicago would get behind him. And I think a paring with Phil could be a great situation for him. So what's everyone think. Fowler is as likely to deliver 4 points as none. Part of me likes an unexciting but steady player like Haas better. He could probably deliver a point and a half, two if he plays really well. Better than nothin'.

Golfspy_CG2
I think I'd pick Ryan Moore over fowler as one of them. At 20 that would certainly be reach down the list. Not saying it's a bad pick, he does play well in match play. Just think it would generate a lot of talk... Kenny B
There are so many good players in the 10-20 spots; any of them can play well on any given weekend. Ricky played well this past weekend for 3 rounds, but couldn't finish and that's his MO lately with the lead. Also, he has never won a RC match, so in my mind, he is no better than picking a first timer. I like Rickie, but he has yet to prove to me, let alone Love, that he is worthy of a pick. Let's see how he plays this week. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Golfspy_CG2
I'd love to see Jimmy get one more shot. He is playing well of late, so... I tend to agree this time. Although his lifetime record is not very good, something 9-17-4 But you never know, he could have one good last run in him. If nothing else you have to love his determination and he never gives up. Kor.A.Door
I think it will be all 4 mentioned above, unless someone really makes a move ala Billy a couple years ago, more is too far down, Furyk could be a sentimental pick, but is he playing any better ban any of the others, piercy played well early in the year, as did fowler, but I still like the 4 above. What I can't figure is why everyone is down on Rickie? JB and Bubba haven't shown much of anything lately, yet no one is saying anything about them. They all got into the 9,10,11,and 12 spots from their play earlier in he season. Lefties are always in their Right Mind
SPY VIP GolfSpyC Posted August 31, 2016 SPY VIP Share Posted August 31, 2016 I like Rickie as a pick and I like him a lot more than Furyk. Furyk already has amassed a tremendous amount of (losing) experience and like a hole that always seems to get your number, I feel like the Ryder Cup kind of has Furyk's number - I think Rickie and the Ryder Cup is a more natural fit... Kor.A.Door
Three picks are in and it looks like the "no brainer" picks were the choice, we can all say we would like to see some new blood, and I do think at some point we need to see it happen, but for now we have the same, except for 1 last pick. There are probably 4 guys being looked at next week, Berger, Thomas, Watson, and Moore. There may be a couple others in the mix, but I think it comes down to these 4, and I also think whoever plays best at the tour champ. At east lake this week will get the call. jayjay0808
I like the Kuchar and Holmes picks. But really I don't see how you could have justified the Fowler pick. He hasn't been playing great golf as of late, he hasn't been able to close when it matters. My only thinking is that the players that are on the team as of right now felt comfortable with teaming with Rickie. And it has been mentioned a couple times he is a great teammate. I am hopeful that the fourth pick goes to either Thomas or Berger. josmi15
I enjoy watching Fowler, but after the way he's played the last month I admit was troubled with this pick.
