Kenny B
My instructor said something that really hit a nerve with me the other day when we were talking about seeing thoughts. He knows I play a lot of basketball and asked me if I think through all the parts of taking a shot like "set my feet", "bend the knees", "look at the rim" "take the ball back" "now shoot". Of course I said heck no. I just do it. And he said exactly. Through practice you train your body to make the right moves and when you get on the course you think about what you want to do in your pre shot routine and then you just do it. It really made sense to me and made me want to just clear my mind and just hit the ball. I'm hoping that frame of mind will remove any thoughts and allow me to swing freely. Peaksy68
No game for me this week, had to work Saturday, so hit a bucket of balls Sunday. The usual (for me) 50m pitches, and trying to hit my irons with less left to right. Much better ball flight when I slow down the backswing. Kenny B
All this putter talk on the other threads and people talking about Lead-Hand Low grip, I decided I would give it a try. This is not the first time; I've tried it before, but this time I worked at it more than the 5 minutes I gave it last time. I spent most of my practice sessions yesterday and today trying to get a feel for that grip. I have to tell you... It ain't happening!! The grip doesn't feel good to me; I left putts short, or way long; sometimes the ball went right; sometimes it went left. Maybe a larger grip on my putter would help, but I went back to my normal grip and a couple of putts later, I was my usual self. I guess it's not for me. two guys I walk with during the week use LHL grip and they are excellent putters, but I won't be changing again. cksurfdude, Jiro and Smalls1588 3 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Jiro
Started using one of these which is good for those of us how tend to dig and practice at ranges with mats. If you hit it fat, you will hit this yellow thing and know it. Also helps with alignment as sometimes I hit outside-in when I am out in sync. My oldest came along with me to the range today as well. Kenny B
Went out to the course yesterday afternoon before the league started. I found a 4-hole gap on the course, and hit fairway bunker shots. This is the weakest part of my game. I'd like to say that I am never in one because I hit the ball straight, but I can't say it. Until last year my bunker game around the green was terrible, but I have now had plenty of practice that I can at least get out. However, that hasn't translated to fairway bunker shots. After a half hour I managed to get most balls out of the bunker. I need more practice. cksurfdude 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
