What/How Did You Practice Today?

I just worked on the drills from my lessons today. So difficult to get it engrained. Really trying though. I can see some positives for sure!

Spent an hour and 10 minutes on the practice green doing the ladder drill and reverse ladder drill to improve my speed/lag putting. I sat down with our local pro a couple of days ago and after looking at my 5 most recent scorecards, he said that he's confident I can break 80 by the end of August if i dedicate the majority of my practice to the short game, while maintaining my current long game.

I practiced flop shots and other short game shots high and low in my yard trying to get them to land in different holes, dang dogs keep digging and I keep filling. And I use my 7 month old puppy to collect them and bring them back to me.

Worked on posture and a weakest grip tonight. Sawyer some surprising success, though the grip feels nowhere near natural yet

I worked on the same! Although I think you meant weakest in terms of hand position. I was working on not strangling my grip.

My ball striking was solid in practice, hopefully next round it translates

Went to the range and got a good bucket in before the rain came. I went back to working my old drills from before my last lesson. Once I finished my drills I "played some holes" using various flags and back netting for aiming points. I hit the balls well and left happy and confident as the rains soaked me.

Worked a lot on tempo and posture. Finally able to hit balls pain free so I took advantage and spent the day on the range with the kids. Switched to a little lighter shaft in the drive with pretty good results.

Hit my whole shag bag from between 50-75y. Most were at 75y. Used all 3 wedges and hit a variety of flights each. Direction control was pretty decent but I had a hard time getting the distance right. About 3/4 of the balls are long.

This thread is a good idea to help document practice. Maybe I'll be able to upload one with a blanket-sized cluster one of these days.

Hit a bucket on the range today, half of it with my 6i in anticipation of my Mizuno fitting tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure I was getting good shots on the ball so I get good, comparable results tomorrow. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight, I'm too stoked!

Also spent 45 minutes on the putting green as well. Practicing from 15-20 feet, trying to hole them more. Also practiced a lot of 4-5 footers - no more 3 putts!

I went to Windmill Training center with my son yesterday morning and we shared a medium bucket before going onto their 2 club course. They 3 9's that you can choose from that you only use a wedge and putter. Had a good time with him and he learned a lesson in not giving up.

It's got some linksy style holes in and around this peninsula. The picture shows the practice chipping green next to the driving range. They've also got a short chipping green and a putting green so the practice facilities are diverse. From time to time they've even got a launch monitor set up inside the restaurant.

I worked on getting consistent from the rough with hybrids. When I'm in the 2nd cut, I normally go to an iron and dig it out. Watched a video that I evidently saved on Facebook. I'm feeling confident.

My swing key to make sure I keep my capital Y together until my left shoulder touches my chin. I play a draw so if I keep my arms and club in front of me, aim between first & second and fire through the ball down that line, it's on like donkey kong.

Played a small nine hole today. Wanted to practice irons and chipping.

No consistency. Either good irons/bad chipping or bad irons/good chipping.

A lot of work to do.

Had a bit of an epiphany (no disrespect, Rev)......

Was working on chipping and pitching, trying to hit three balls the same way three times in a row with the goal to try to get them to land close together. Changing up shots between groups .. using one wedge, hitting to different targets, eg. further / shorter, higher / lower.

So: loosened up the grip - a LOT - last three fingers of left (lead) hand very lightly wrapped around with left thumb and index finger just touching while right hand was almost not on at all ...

All of a sudden - and will not be a surprise to any of you pros ;) - the club moved more easily and the clubhead speed picked up .. with the result that the ball was popping up quickly and flying higher and more consistently... Wow!

Now.. if I can take this to the course .. especially into the bunkers...!!
