revkev
As an addendum to my post I got a Martin Hall video in my Revolution Golf email for today (free content.). His video tip was for good players who struggle with a hook or push. Up went my hand - at least the hook and push part. He talked about how he learned to get rid of his own hook by studying the swing of one of his slicing students. I had to laugh. One of my teacher's favorite things to tell me when I'm struggling is picture your hacker friends and swing like them. If you guys can imagine it I have to consciously try to swing straight across the ball in order to hit something close to a straight shot. It's very frustrating but after nearly three years I can hit fades with a 7 iron on the range. Shankster
Fades are fun Rev! I do it by aiming off to the left on my intended target. Aim the clubface that direction and set my stance a bit open to that. I don't alter my in to out swing for it. Biggest problem I have trying to hit them is committing to the target line, same with a draw. I don't alter my swing at all, just clubface and stance. Sometimes I don't take enough room to either side and I get in undiscovered locations on the course. Then comes the great escapes.

russtopherb
So, happy happy joy joy, the driving range 2 mins from my office has re-opened with a new owner. I was out on my lunch break and saw that they were open so I swung in to check things out. All brand new mats (no grass unfortunately) but the balls weren't the greatest, lots of mixed brands and conditions. Still, the new owner seems very nice and interested in getting things up to shape as quickly as possible so I grabbed a small bucket and got in some swings. Just working on my backswing and takeaway, making sure to coil up and not sway. There's always something to work on no matter how much or how little time you have. Plus, I had a nice long chat with my "pro" on the phone, and made plans to get together sometime in the next few weeks for a tuneup. cksurfdude 1 Quote In my carry bag: ST-X 10.5* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 15* Kai/li Blue R Flex ST-Z 4h Linq Blue R Flex Launcher 5h Launcher CBX 6i-PW CBX 54* & 58* Huntington Beach #10 e12 Contact CURRENTLY TESTING - Mizuno Long Game
palvord
Driving range session today. Honestly just trying to figure out what went wrong last week. I played some target practice games using the same club, but not trying to hit down the same line to see if I can get something that resembles consistency back. Felt kind of good about my work today. Hopefully it translates to a bit more success on the course. SteddyGolf
Played late in the afternoon so the course was pretty empty. I hit two balls off each tee. The second ball was always a club down on all par 4s and 5s. Par 3s the second ball was a club up. The first ball beat the second ball by 4 strokes when all was said and done. StrokerAce
Trying to make my range sessions more efficient I typically play different holes, so to speak...long par 5 (3 balls)...par 4 (2balls), etc. But decided to add some target practice and record the results. Picked a 35 yard section as the "fairway" and hit 7 out of 10. Picked a green for 8i and hit 5 out of 10 Picked a 15 foot circle for 54 degree and hit 3 out of 4. Need more work on my mid irons... revkev
I hate to be posting back to back but while you guys are playing, I'm practicing because an hour or two is about all I can handle in this heat. It threatened rain the entire time that I was at the range today. Since my primary goal is to increase my clubhead speed I moved quickly to driver. I thought that I was aiming at a flag that was 210. Every drive went past it and some flew past it. That's very good for me. The rain held off so I hit 9 iron for a while at a flag that I thought was 120 and 52 at a flag that I thought was 85 and just short of another that I thought was 95. As I left I grabbed my range finder to measure. The flags were 217, 128, 92, 100. So I was carrying drives to and past 217, with no wind in soupy weather st sea level. That's fifteen yards more than a month ago. I was 10 yards longer with 9 iron and 52. cnosil
Working on my putting. Short game has really come together so I need to work on finishing out the up and downs and making the occasional bad putts that I didn't get to the hole I went out and bought a #7 style odyssey just to have a different look. Was rolling it well in the store and picked it over the #9 style. Good news is I have 30 days to return if it doesn't work out. Big reason I picked it up was that it had alignment aids on the topline. Have been testing on the putting green and i have been having good results. Distance control seems good and make percentages from various distance seems good. Problem is when I get out to the course. Those 6 footers are giving me trouble and even missed a couple of 2 footers this weekend. The extra practice sessions to get used to the putter may have been what I needed to do all along. Need to do a head to head comparison with my long time gamer after changing the grip back to something smaller after the super stroke experiment failed. Now I am thinking that my tempo is just better due to the practice. Probably just need to get out of my own head. cksurfdude 1 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: TM-180 Testing: Backups: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

Shankster
Was at the range again today. Went through about have a bucket before I said “what the heck are you doing?†I was just hitting balls aimlessly off into the field. Then I hunkered down and made myself hit a high and low, draw and fade to the same target with each club. Not much wind today so the ball wasn't getting beat up too much. Overall I did pretty well. A little work needed in the mid irons, and the driver. Then I moved on to the putting green, hit a few fringe flops, stopped on a dime, some throw it to the hole low ones with air brakes. Then putting. I've been working on my 20+ range lags. I haven't used that golf app since the last post about it. Too much junk to deal with. Anyways, a few days ago I was all over the place with anywhere from 4-8' left... no wonder why I 3-4 putt a lot. Now I've got it to a nice little 24†circle, there are a few outliers, but my putting has improved immensely. Did some latter drills, and did 36 3 footers in a row before I missed one. Goal is 50 in a row, then I'll move to 4'. 100 4 footers then move to 5' all the way up to 8 feet then work my way back down. Planning on doing some of this early when the dew sweepers are out. Just enough light to see the little putting green flags.
revkev
Running as fast as I could with my bag from the range to the clubhouse during a downpour. I think they used to call that the Steeplechase. Prior to that I worked hard on my fairway wood. On the range I noticed something of interest. I was hitting it farther off the turf than a tee, primarily because I launch it lower off the turf and it runs out. I also hit a number of 6 irons. Finally I was on the range with one of our DI golfers - we have a handful of kids at our club who our attending college on golf scholarships. We hung together during the storm. What a delightful young lady. She was redshirted this year because of a car accident and is just getting back to hitting fill shots. Looked pretty good to me. I'm hitting the ball really well right now and she was hitting her 7 iron where my 6 was going - about 10 yards short of a flag that I shot at 183. StrokerAce
Cut out flag shaped cardboard, painted them, attached them to 3 driveway markers. Planted all 3 in my backyard at different distances and chipped back-and-forth to them for about 2 hours with 54, 58 and 61 degree wedges. I also recently changed my driver from 9.5 to 11.5 and am really happy with how accurate I'm able to hit it. Maybe they were right in saying that a lot of amateurs play with too little loft? Funny thing is my fitting was at 9.5 and I have always thought that was a little low. In order to make up for the loft increase I moved the ball back in my stance about 2 inches and am really compressing it now. The sound difference is definitely distinct. Last round I played a couple guys mentioned how well I was compressing it off the tee and it just sounded so solid and crisp. ...and my son and I played mini golf (does that count?)... I gave him 5 strokes and he hit a hole-in-one on the last hole to beat me by 1 !! PMookie
I had my second lesson with Jon Sinclair in Euless, TX, West of Dallas. We worked in my iron swing first, then moved to the driver. I brought all 3 of the drivers I currently have to hit on his TrackMan to be able to pick which one fits me best. We ruled out the Ping G I've been testing because it had the lowest ball speeds, and shortest distance. The KZG I have that has the Xphlexxx Agera shaft was best of what I have, ball speed, distance, and direction. Jon had me hit the G400 with the TPT brand shaft (kept changing them out) to see what it would do. Ball speed increased above my KZG, swing speed went up, and dispersion was much better. He sent me home with it and said to play it awhile to see what I thought. We'll see. Overall, a great lesson. Very simple, easy to make the changes, and drills to use to help solidify the moves I'm to make.
