edingc
I've had four or five really good buckets of balls since my last lesson. I've been focused on just getting my setup correct and then having a niced relaxed tempo through my swing. It has been working wonders. My driver is still pretty shaky, but I have some keys to work on there as well. I'm still a little bummed about playing the back +14 after playing the front +1 during my round Friday, but to be fair the back has a lot more trouble with out of bounds on six or seven of the holes and several forced carries as well. Onward! It's nice to feel like progress is being made again. cnosil, cksurfdude, Shapotomous and 1 other 4 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. sirchunksalot
Had a really good session at the range today, focusing on shots from 150 yards and in. Arccos has my approach from this range being one of the worst facets of my game. I started out shaky with my wedges, hitting the distances but not the trajectory I was looking for. There were lots of bladed shots in there. Went to the irons and once I got my tempo settled down, I hit some pretty good shots. Then I went to focusing on hitting a position I learned from my time with the Planemate and started hitting really good shots. I can't explain it well, but what I was looking for is keeping my left arm connected, body fully turned, and the shaft pointing straight to the ground right before finishing my swing. Something like that. Moved on to 5 wood and I'm continually impressed with the ease I hit the Cobra fairways. I love, love, love, these clubs! My contact with driver was on today, I didn't have any shots to the extreme corners of the face. I hit 10 shots that were threatening the sweet spot. I went back to the wedges to finish off the round and was finding better contact after working out my tempo. Almost forgot, I actually tried hitting three balls with my eyes closed after @artful_golfer suggested it to someone. They were a hair thin, but it amazed me that I actually hit them. cksurfdude, cnosil and Shapotomous 2
Haro
Working on short putts and when I’m focused on specific part of the cup my aiming becomes more accurate. On flat putts I have a tendency to be left biases and will look at the entry or exit points on the left part of the cup My preference is to stroke at inside left edge with square/slightly open face (less than 2 degrees if possible) I’m gong to test this out with Laser and see if there is a SAM lab locally I can get tested cksurfdude

revkev
I didn’t practice yesterday - through wedge and putter in the trunk to chip and putt after work before a meeting - it was sunny most of the day, clear skies at night, only a 20 percent chance of rain.Guess what it did from 4-5?So I used that time to review Rapsodo launch angle data. An observation popped out - while the distance and accuracy of my irons click at a certain launch angle my longest drives are always when I launch it high - over 15 degrees with 17 being the ideal. The method you describe still has a single aimpoint that happens to be on the zero break or fall line. Unlike aimpoint the point you are aiming to is on that line. This is what Geoff magnum taught and was the method used in Vector Green Reading. Aimpoint users a point left or right of the hole that generally doesn’t like on the fall line. Subtle differences but different approaches. @Haro is indicating he wants to see curved lines and does on right to left putts. On left to right he has to visualize 2 straight lines; one that goes from ball to apex and one that goes from apex to hole. These are two different green reading approaches. russtopherb
Haven't touched a club in a few weeks due to everything going on, so I shot over to the range at the local muni at lunchtime. Unfortunately it was mats only due to all the heavy rain we've had recently so I mostly worked on driver and hitting fairway woods off the deck. The driver's coming around to a better, straighter flight with what feels like a shorter backswing, just getting adjusted to it. My misses are all left lately which is definitely different for me. Also hit some way off the heel which makes me think I'm lunging at the ball again. Still, after a few weeks layoff I wasn't mad to see some decent ballflight off of the woods at all. cksurfdude, cnosil, sirchunksalot and 1 other 4 Quote In my carry bag: ST-X 10.5* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 15* Kai/li Blue R Flex ST-Z 4h Linq Blue R Flex Launcher 5h Launcher CBX 6i-PW CBX 54* & 58* Huntington Beach #10 e12 Contact CURRENTLY TESTING - Mizuno Long Game

Kenny B
My wife went to play with the Ladies at another course in town today, so I went to our course to practice. I noticed right away that the practice green that had pins last weekend for the Men's Club tournament was empty of pins... Gone. That sucks! Went into the pro shop and got a bucket of balls; spent about 20 minutes pitching onto the pitching green with green success. Motion felt good; ball flew like I wanted. Then headed to the range. WTF?! The mats are out for the winter; earliest I remember them putting them out. I hit great shots off the mat and will until spring when they remove them; then back to fat shots!! Crazy your swing speed is 120 with a driver about 2 inches short of standard. cksurfdude and sirchunksalot 2 Quote Epic Max LS 9° Ventus Blue 6X (2021 Official Review) | Epic Speed 18° Evenflow Riptide 70g 6.0 816 H1 21° Diamana S+ Blue 70 S | SMS 4-5/SMS Pro 6-PW Steelfiber i95 S (2023 Official Review) Glide 4.0 50°.12°S/54°.14°W/58°.6°T PING Z-Z115 Wedge Flex | SOFT 11S Super Stroke Mid-Slim 2.0 Hoofer Bag | Pro V1 | Right Handed | Tracked by V3

Makes sense not worth swinging that hard if you have no clue where it is going. Interesting to see what you end up with as your setup. Buffly
OMG, I had a great time at the range! And, it was not at all what I expected. I had to cancel my range membership due to insufficient funds lately, but, a very gracious friend of mine let's me know when he is heading to the range and shares his bucket with me. Before all this, I always had my clubs in the car. But, now I am scraping by so, I was doing some caregiving work a town away when I got the notification from my friend to head to the range... The range is on the way home from my caregiving gig. I showed up without any of my clubs and, he offered to let me share his clubs. I know my clubs well and, I know his clubs were different in many ways but, it was sure fun trying to send a few orbs downrange with foreign equipment. I was able to dial in the driver, 7i, and Gap wedge pretty well. What really surprised me was the Cleveland 588 51° oil can finish wedge - I couldn't miss with it. ... I might be scouring used equipment for one soon. My friend is amazing and, I am very grateful to get a chance to hit a few balls with him.
