Peaksy68
Practice at home in the shed this weekend as we’ve gone into a 5 day lockdown. Frustrating golf wise as I’m starting to feel a bit better about my game. Played 9 holes of matchplay on Thursday and was getting more confident in my swing before lockdown was announced Friday. Putted extremely well, my reading of putts was back to its best. Spent some time using my homemade downunder board, and a good putting session with the Puttout system. One bonus of being locked down for the weekend, my shed is much tidier now. cnosil, edingc, Shapotomous and 5 others 8 Quote 849 Pro Evenflow Riptide 6.0 F8 3 & 5 Woods Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 TS2 7 Wood Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 MP18 MMC - Project X LZ 5.5 Zipcore Wedges 50,54,58 - Project X LZ 5.5 MLA Tour Mallet 33" Z Star Pioneer bag buggy
Vegan_Golfer_PNW
For the last couple weeks I have mainly focused on stretch and then doing the wedge planemate protocols up to the full swing (I skipped the single arm work) and if I go to the range I use my smart ball. With my flexibility coming back and my swing improving, I did my first workout in a month to try and gain some speed. If my flexibility continues to improve and my swing stays solid, I may consider a swing speed trainer, likely MaxSwingSpeed unless a used speed stick set shows up for similar price. Chip Strokes
had a lesson with my coach today and ended up going through a few different driver shafts... i think we have a winner, folks. here are a couple of drives with my sim 8* set at 7.25* and the Kuro Kage XT 70TX shaft... yes, the second one was overdrawn a bit. but considering i’ve been fighting a bad open faced slice since i started playing, i’m stoked to see the ball turning over to the left. dispersion, ball speed, and the feeling that i could really let my swing go were all far and away better with the XT than the other 3 i tried out. sirchunksalot, Shapotomous, Micah T and 6 others 8 1 Quote SIM2 8º | KuroKage XD 70TX SIM 3W 14º | Fujikura Atmos Black Tour Spec 9TX SIM2 5W 18º | Fujikura Ventus Black 10X U500 2i | Fujikura Ventus HB Black 10TX T100 4-PW | Dynamic Gold X7 SM6 52* SM8 56* SM8 60* | Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 DW | BGT Stability Tour

dlow206
Continued working today on feeling like i am starting the downswing with getting my left arm off of my chest. Its definitely helping to reduce my early extension and i am starting to develop good awareness on when I don't do the move correctly vs. when i do. I also like that this is not just a drill but is part of my swing. Although it feels to me like my left arm is making the first movement in the downswing, its not actually making the first move, it just feels that way. edingc
Back to the range for two buckets this morning. Wasn't the best day overall, just couldn't get comfortable over the ball, but the MMTs are addictive to hit! Really enjoyed my time spent with the 6 and 7 irons today. Still seeing a few MPH increase in swing speed across the irons after switching from steel to graphite. Didn't have a ton of success with the longer clubs I brought (driver, hybrids) mostly because I just was too tight. Started getting a bit more relaxed toward the end of the session and had some better swings. sirchunksalot, GolfSpy_SHARK, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 1 other 4 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. sirchunksalot
After a busy weekend moving washers and dryers, cleaning up underneath them (didn't realize the washer was leaking...ugh), and spending time with friends we haven't seen in a long time, I was able to hit the range today. I went with the goal of working on my fairway woods which killed me my last round. I'm having issues with the 3 wood off the deck and today was no different. I experimented with ball position and still realize it needs a lot of work. As you can see I'm living low on the face and am going to have to spend more time working on this. My 5 wood was fine, I didn't spray it but was seeing better ball flight and distance, just have to stick with it off the fairway and leave the 3 wood for tee shots. Irons are showing improvement, I'm tightening up my pattern and am really pleased with the results I'm seeing. I am also really happy with driver, I replaced my shaft to a HZRDUS Smoke Black and it's been performing on the range and the course. I'm currently in the process of moving back to taller trees and working to get my AOA more positive. A little more off the heel side than I'd like, but it's tightening up and I didn't have shots all over the place as per usual. edingc, Tom the Golf Nut, GolfSpy_SHARK and 3 others

dlow206
In working on swing changes, started to have a left hip stall issue so i wasn't rotating through the shot. Typically when I try to actively rotate, then I start spinning the right hip which is not good either. I've been working on the same thing this winter. Not only clearing the lead side better but also clearing a little earlier. I wouldn't say my upper body was ahead of my hips / legs but my hips needed to pivot a little earlier and a little more than they were. I am guessing its age and less flexibility that is creeping into my swing. Included with swing work are some strength & flexibility exercises this winter to try to push back a little on the dreaded time machine. GolfSpy_SHARK
@CarlHand @Shapotomousi have the same issue opening the lead him/turning. Most recently I found this diagram as a light bulb moment for me. Always have had a closed stance....how can I clear my hip when I start out like this? Have since adjusted and I do not have any videos but it feels much better and hitting a straighter ball. Not sure if you potentially are doing the same but just wanted to toss out what I have seen for my own swing Vegan_Golfer_PNW, bens197 and Shapotomous 3 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? twyatt700
Also forgot to add, nicked a wall yesterday with a swing. Am banned from swing in the house. This is my patchwork to fix the issue. Never made the connection. Word to anyone approaching what you think is "old age" when the ball doesn't go quite as far as it used to and you have a few more aches and pains during/after a round, start working more on strength and flexibility NOW. Don't put it off! The longer you wait, the harder it is and the longer it takes to improve just a little. I waited too long. A few decades ago I didn't worry about the state of my game coming out of Winter.....distances would be there, feel would be there, my muscle memory was there with very few early spring warm up rounds. Now I am doing the winter work outs just to try to tread water in terms of my golf swing....Getting harder each year....my muscle memory is probably worse than my real memory (and that ain't good)!
