RickyBobby_PR
Decided to take advantage of some decent weather to hit the range to try and knock the rust off and see how things I’ve been working on he last couple months in the house held up to actual swings and hitting a ball. Today was focused on using 7&8i for drills from p6 and left arm parallel to feel more rotation into impact and better face control. Used the hangar and alignment stick drills for most of these and then would hit shots without them before doing them over again. Shapotomous
Hit some balls into the net and also some backyard wedge shots. Got the impact spot moved from about 2/3 of a ball toward the toe back to the sweet spot by the time I was done. I just needed to chase my hands down the line a little bit and finish high and the ball was finding the sweet spot regularly. I guess the hands were staying too low and the club was cutting across the line just a smidgen too much. russtopherb
First range session of 2021 is in the books. All in all not too bad. I mostly stuck with my PW through 7i just taking it easy, more concerned with straight vs far. Especially since it’s mats only right now, I prefer not being in pain. Things went well enough that I pulled the driver out towards the end of the bucket. A few low bullets but I also hit a number of really nice shots that wouldn’t have been distance record setters but would have been squarely in the fairway. That works for me. Popular Post sirchunksalot
I went to the range today with the intention of working on one of the drills from the Strike Plan where you try to intentionally hit a toe shot and then a heel shot to develop feel for each in order to learn to move strike and build awareness in your swing. I started out warming up with some short pitch shots and was hitting them solidly. Moved on to a 50 yard swing and the shanks came out to play. I had sprayed my club face with Dr Scholl's and had three straight shots not show up on the face. I immediately set up a gate drill and stuck with that throughout my practice. I started to see better results focusing on keeping the club between the tees I had set up. I then moved on to my 5 wood, as my ability to hit a fairway wood has completely vanished. The first couple of shots I completely cold topped before moving the ball back and focusing on weight shift. I finally started hitting some good ones after that. My driver swing was a bit toey. Again, I had to work on weight shift plus weight distribution during setup. I was noticing that my weight was all going back as I added a little shoulder tilt. I'm happy with ball flight, other than one block I was hitting draws and pull draws. It was a fun and beautiful day to be out and probably the first time ever on the range I committed the entire session to purposeful practice. It usually deteriorates into a session of just hacking away toward the end. I finished off the day hitting wedges to various targets and distances. bens197, downlowkey, Tom the Golf Nut and 14 others

Popular Post edingc
Range opened up last week, and it's been really nice to get out on my lunch breaks. That we've had 60-plus degree weather is a bonus. I've been really working hard on my homework from my last lesson, which basically revolved around getting my setup right (don't be too close to the ball, grip had gotten too weak) and then feeling like my hands and arms start the downswing. I rotate way too hard in the downswing. When I started lessons that meant over-the-top slices, but I've gotten better now and keep my upper body closed and end up getting stuck with right elbow jammed up with the right hip. Anyway, I re-watched Monte Scheinblum's "No Turn, Cast" drill and have been trying to imitate the casting portion. Getting better. Front side is still a little soft through impact and I get flippy, but there's a lot more shaft lean there than there used to be. Going to break out the DownUnder Board and see if I can get posted up a little better. Downside of all these new thoughts is that some old habits are showing up again. Feels like I'm chasing a moving target sometimes. kardboard.kid, dlow206, sirchunksalot and 8 others 10 1 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Popular Post alfriday101
I went to the short game area to nail down my alignment and set up. I had the area to myself. Before leaving, I took all the balls lying around the green and tossed the haphazardly around the green. There were maybe 40 balls. I grabbed a wedge and went around the green, hitting every other ball, playing as it lay. I then grabbed my 9 iron and hit the remaking balls. The practice green has three flags. I would pick out the most difficult one to hit to. I had to manufacture shots I would never try on the course—like hitting a 9 iron pitch over a bunker to a tight pin. It was great fun to explore and experiment with shot making. Shapotomous, Rickp, edingc and 7 others
dlow206
Practice feeling like I was swinging free today without a lot of technical thoughts. Main focus was make sure the setup was clean particularly the grip, have a pre-swing thought of pausing and the top and rotating hard through the swing. Once the swing starts, no thoughts, just go. Early extension is going away. Still definitely need more work on a number of things, but swing feels good and is starting to feel more natural. My swing speed looks like its going up a bit without feeling like i am putting too much effort in the swing. i'm also pretty happy with how this position looks coming into the ball. Not coming too much from the inside like i had been in the recent past. For some, coming from the inside sounds awesome, but its terrible when its too much, its just ends up in a two way miss too often. edingc, Shapotomous, Rickp and 6 others 9 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 07/15/2022 Driver: Rogue St Max LS - Autoflex Fairway Woods: Rogue Max St 3HL and 7 Wood Irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal 5 to AW - Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff parallel tip Wedges: Glide 4.0 54 and 58 Putter: PLD Custom Kushin

He's given me a new exercise routine to strengthen my weaker areas and balance out my body. cksurfdude
Had a decent range session this afternoon; working on the latest drills from my series of lessons .. including getting the hands deeper in the backswing and straightening out the right (trail) arm coming into impact. Still have some left-right dispersion issues (with more left misses now it seems) but starting to see more solid hits with nice ball flights. Been working mostly on irons and with my improving swing now I need to learn my new distances! Swing feels really good this early Rickp, Chip Strokes, cksurfdude and 3 others 5 1 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran?
