Annnnnd....It was turned off for Arccos. You might just be a genius! (I won't tell anyone, I promise)

Just was using my old help desk technician hat.  Hopefully that solved the issue! 👍

If it does let Arccos know I’ll send them a bill for my consulting fee. 😂

I went to the club today and practiced chipping and putting.  Would chip to different hole locations and would try to make the ball in the hole in two putts or less. Then I went home and worked on contact drills into the net. Started with a half swing and worked on making good contact, then transitioned to a 3/4 swing, then full swing.

Playing mostly Mizuno Hot Metal, but just added an Epic Flash 26* hybrid to the bag.

I told myself yesterday that i was going to take a few days off from full swing practice. i lied, couldn't help myself. Besides working on the stuff with my instructor, i was trying to figure out why do i have so much variance between swings, even during practice. I can have one swing that looks great followed by a swing where i am completely cutting across the ball.

What i perceive my normal swing to feel like is backswing, pause, downswing. While there is no actual pause on video, that is how it feels to me, and from the perceived pause to downswing is where things go haywire for me and i get out of sequence, which is the cause for the variation between swings.

I experimented today with what I perceive to feel like one motion, backswing to downswing. That "one single motion" needs to feel smooth for me. in the swing i feel like there is no transition between backswing and downswing, but in video it shows up as a smooth transition. It feels nothing like what it actually looks like on video, but not necessarily a bad thing.

Thanks man.

Where i struggle right now is putting together a complete round. One day I will be hot off the tee and leave myself with an approach shot that i should either hit the green or land somewhere near the green, but then i will waste a shot by chunking it. The next round i will be cold off the tee and will lose shots having to punch out from the trees. And then other rounds i will be hot off the tee and with my irons but then my short game becomes atrocious. Part of it is getting better consistency, part of it is i get in my own head.

It's the "fun" of this game. Shot to shot, hole to hole, there is a new challenge to conquer.

Don't let your lows get too low. The challenge is always to find something that resembles a happy medium in your head.

I'm also saying all this to myself as I haven't swung a club since October and am about to discover all of my new flaws for this season.

Main things i had been working on were rotation and shoulder tilt. My instructor says they have improved but still work in progress. So i haven't moved on from those yet.

Gotcha. Nice to know he’s not trying to move on without the initial change being where he wants. It’s one of the reasons I stopped seeing a local coach several years back. Always moved onto something before I felt like things were better

Lesson with my swing coach today.  Focus was driver.  Used the GCQuad and several different drivers.  My Ping tends to spin too high.  Cobra RadSpeed and Epic Speed both 10.5 with R shafts produced better results.  Plan on playing a round with the Cobra tomorrow.  Additionally, worked on my foot work and improved rotation through the swing.  It's a different move from what I was doing previously and a bit awkward feel for now.   Drill hitting 10 wedges for the feel and timing then hit driver.

I also sent in a one off lesson to Monte to see if he could spot anything specific as a root cause for my rotation and shoulder tilt issues. His teaching and Jonathan's teaching go well together, but Monte is really good at spotting really specific root cause issues, so I wanted to get a second opinion. Just got the feedback back from Monte an hour ago and it was some interesting stuff that is backswing related that is causing me not to link up arms with pivot in transition and downswing.

I know some folks would say you should only work with one instructor at a time, but I see it as having multiple doctors, one being a primary care and another being a specialist that you see from time to time. As long as their advice isn't conflicting, in my mind its ok.

Agree Monte is pretty good at diagnosing issues from what I’ve seen in limited video and just reading his comments peoples swings.

Right elbow, right pocket.... (POCKET, not hip...you start going towards the hip and you're in doo-doo <speaking from experience>)

This has really helped me mitigate the over-the-top/throw-the-club-out move.

Good stuff here from Rory and Martin...

Thanks for sharing that.  I've always been a fan of Rory's swing, and I like that thought for a feel.

Also it's not fair how much better pro's clubs sound when they hit them... it's just not fair!

Frost and snow today, range is closed for the third day in a row, so I came home at lunch and hit some foam balls against the house to practice instead. Working on the feeling of belt buckle behind ball at impact (which, again, gets my hands in front and my hips rotating less to start the downswing). Feel good and video seems to confirm I've got more room for my hands and arms, less slide of the upper body  and more shaft lean at impact.

IMG_20210421_125605.jpg.cae43b8b8aadda03db4601e294abef49.jpg

Can't wait to actually get out on the course and range.

Something else I've been working on is lengthening my backswing, which my coach has been asking me to work on for some time. Last week I got my Rypstick analysis video back and that was their biggest recommendation for me as well. For me, that means a feeling of my right leg straightening more in the backswing and feeling like my right tricep gets parallel to the ground. It's a work in progress...

Got outside while my lunch was cooking and did my second day of the SuperSpeed C beginning protocol.  I was happy to see within the first set I got up to the 131 mark again.  It still feels a little awkward but I felt like I got some more powerful swings in.  My numbers were much more consistent today and I topped out at 133 on dominant swings and 127 on non-dominant swings.  Both new bests with Superspeed sticks.

It's starting to rain here, so maybe doing some of the short game Planemate work later on inside, or maybe some putting practice tonight, we'll see!

Worked on driver for the first time in a while.  Trying to get my spin numbers down and my speed back up where it should be.  Really felt my legs getting into the ball, but accuracy left a bit to be desired.  Had my best ball speed of the year at 171 with 296 carry and was only just off the fairway.  Still coming a bit over the top and losing some posture on the downswing and too much spin.  Never ending quest.

Monte had some wizardry on my swing analysis to notice that I was getting to my left side too early, almost right away, plus my arms getting jammed up at the top of my swing, so my arms would continue moving to get more space even though my body stopped rotating. The part about getting to my left side too early made my swing feel really unathletic. He said i need to start the swing and get some pressure on the right side and it may feel like swaying to me.

I feel so much more athletic making that move. My swing feels the best it has ever felt. Shallow but neutral.

That's a very nice swing!

When I find something that works, it's gone the next day after a night's sleep!! 🤣

Hope you remember how to do that.

Hope you remember how to do that.

Thanks. I know the two things that i need to feel. Pressure needs to go to the right foot to start the swing and i need to feel width in the backswing. The  “width” feel helps my width and depth.

The one thing that wrecks my swing is when my swing gets too long (even longer than the video). If it gets too long, then there is a good chance i won’t get my arms synced up to my pivot in the downswing.

Worked on 140 and in; tried to hit the green on the sim using my 52, 48, and my 44 degree wedges. Really eye opening to see how swinging close to my top end really brings out my left miss. This just in spies: taking more club and swinging easier or hitting knockdown shots with a longer club can greatly improve your dispersion.

Right elbow, right pocket.... (POCKET, not hip...you start going towards the hip and you're in doo-doo <speaking from experience>)

This has really helped me mitigate the over-the-top/throw-the-club-out move.

Good stuff here from Rory and Martin...

Continuing with this theme in a little more detail.

Focusing on this has helped me *tremendously* in the last year. I used to do the opposite of what he describes here sometimes and it is an absolute swing killer.

I like the drill with the alignment rod (or snowstick as we call them in new england 🤣) in the right armpit.

Worked at the range on driver face contact. Everything still heel side. Got frustrated and just cleared head and swung away and things were better. Thinking my head gets in the way too much. Or I just need to swing with anger and the ball and club obeys. 🤷‍♂️

otherwise wedge and putting practice with Qstar divide. Very useful for those applications.

Today was another SuperSpeed day and while doing that, I was working on getting my clubhead outside my hands and trying to lessen my outside to in path. Had some pretty good speeds and felt like I was coming more from the inside.

Got out just a few minutes ago with a club and the GoPro to get video to see if it worked. After looking at the video, it was better. The clubhead was still a hair to the inside of my hands, but it looked like my path was better than the extreme OTT I had Sunday at the range.

I get my first Moderna shot tomorrow and if that doesn't adversely affect me, I'm going to the range or possibly play. We've been cut down to eight hour days and that should give me time after work to hit some balls.

Good luck with the shot. Wife goes for the second tomorrow and she was good after the first. Hope ya get some swings in, careful of that soreness!

I appreciate that! My wife got the Pfizer and felt lethargic afterward and I just don't want that or getting fever or chills. Hopefully the last couple of hours of work will work any soreness out.

I spent a few minutes today thinking about why I don't setup my short wedge shots to use the bounce and what it looks like to setup a wedge shot to expose the bounce. I know about the bounce concept, but for some reason i like to set myself up for failure with the leading edge jammed into the ground at setup on pitch shots.

I’ll be going next week for dose 1 of Moderna. Also hoping for minimal effects.

My wife however, is preparing for “Severe Man-Cold” symptoms.
