Haro
It’s getting to cold to play but still like to go out for a practice my putting. Seems like there’s something new that I figured out. Few weeks ago I was wondering if was better to “swing the arms” or “rock the shoulders” to power/initiates the putting stroke Both worked along with depending on the type of putter that suited that style Today I discovered a third way. More of a “waist initiating “ stoke Kinda like belly putting Butt end always pointed to my midline. I would stand pigeon toe lock up the knee and lift up the putter when I straighten my knees and my arms would “hold the finish”with a “pop” stroke. Was effected but very different feeling with my arms Usually my arms would swing like a pendulum or slightly more follow through than backswing. This time my follow through very short never past my front foot. Surprising my distance control for short putts just as good as long distance putts Only draw back was I had to modify my routine for breaking putts as I need more “lag speed” for those type of putts My arms felt very different. it serve more to “hold the line”. I was was used to releasing my arms. However if I did the putter face would rotate too much off line The drawback was I was having a hard time with breaking putts. However if I modify my routine and set up so that I initiate the putting stroke with my shoulder blades instead of my waist. Don’t have to lock my knees or doing anything lower body it was a smooth stroke. Could develop more touch with that type of stroke That type of stroke felt like when I belly wedge just off the green. sirchunksalot, cksurfdude and Syks7

I just have to remember that swing thought the next time out. @Kenny B the course looks like its in great shape. We still have spots in fairways and a couple of tee boxes that were really stressed out this summer with 118º heat; mostly just dirt. The local rule for these spots in the fairway is free relief no closer to the hole, because we don't have manpower to mark all spots as ground under repair. They did mark them for the Men's Club Championship, but not for the Ladies Club Championship! russtopherb
Hit the range after my 9 hole round, wasn't thrilled with my irons. Lots of low shots, even more so than I normally hit. Ended up being ball position, which irks me. I know I kind of moved quickly through my round since I have a lot of work to get done, but not aiming and setting up properly are just poor form. Once I worked that out with a small bucket I felt much better. Ended with some solid driver shots, tossed 6-7 balls to my buddy who was a few stations down so I could leave on a high note. bens197, mikeanthony, cksurfdude and 5 others 8 Quote In my carry bag: ST-X 10.5* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 15* Kai/li Blue R Flex ST-Z 4h Linq Blue R Flex Launcher 5h Launcher CBX 6i-PW CBX 54* & 58* Huntington Beach #10 e12 Contact CURRENTLY TESTING - Mizuno Long Game

There is one muni nearby with a small chipping green that's more clover and patchy rough vs grass, but it is reasonable for practice; plus there's a small, shallow kinda bunker, too. Another muni has an ok practice bunker, but no chipping area. cksurfdude
Speaking of practice greens... Went to a nearby muni with what I think is a really good putting green .. but, at least the times I've been there, it's only very lightly used. Today I had the whole thing to myself (and it was totally beautiful Spring-like weather here!). Started out practicing reading break / slope with the help of a digital level that has a % slope readout for AimPoint style reads. Then about another 45 minutes rolling mostly long- and medium range putts uphill and downhill and across all kinds of breaks/slopes. Then off to the range to work with the wedges (off of mats) - first up was 4 wedges at the same approx 75 yd target; then some time with the PW at the 100 yd flag; then took a few swipes with the recently re-shafted 3W (..has potential but more full swing work to be done!); and finished off hitting different kinds of shots with the LW. PMookie
I went to the range just before lunch today and I had hit about a 1/2 a bucket of balls. Popular Post sirchunksalot
It's a busy weekend here in the Chunk's household, but I did get a trip in to the range today. I wanted to see if I've made any progress from practicing with the Swing Jacket and the Power Up wedge during the week and from my lesson. First thing I notice pulling up to the range is they don't have any of the grass roped off, so I guess it's getting to the part of the year it's mats only. Yay. I don't like mats even though I know they're a necessary evil this time of year. You just don't get the feedback you do from the turf. Plus, the mat I was in was narrow and that cut out shots with driver and fairways. I had some mixed results starting off, but as the range session progressed, I saw better results. My strike was all over the place early on, mainly toward the heel. The toe strike was intentional, the shank....not so much. I realized I had too much tension in my arms and got crisper contact as the time went on. There was a guy next to me hitting some G710 irons and we got to talking about the time I had 5 balls left. We discussed equipment, lessons, frustration with the game, courses, etc.... My last 5 shots were probably the crispest of the day. I could feel better center face contact and better dispersion. Great session today, I wish I could bottle days like this up and bring it back out any time. I'm happy to see some progress and the work paying off. cnosil, Vegan_Golfer_PNW, JerryB and 7 others 9

RichL85
Took a little over an hour hitting through my irons now that the new shafts are in. Just hit into a net with the PRGR to get a baseline for gapping. I'll take them to the range or the nearby executive course later this week to see the full ball flight, but I wanted to get a sense of the feel and swing weights with the set based more on an MOI match. Also took a number of swings with driver as that is much more inconsistent than my irons. That part is a work in progress. Tore open a blister on my finger about 10 swings in with driver so the idea of working on speed training went out the window. bens197, JerryB, PMookie and 5 others 8 Quote Driver: PXG 0811XF Gen 4 w/ Fujikura Motore X F3 6- 3 Wood: PXG 0341XF Gen 4 w/ Mitsubishi Diamana S+ 70g Hybrids: 19 and 22 degree PXG 0317XF Gen 4 w/ Project X Evenflow Riptide 80g Irons: 5-PW PXG 0311P Gen 4 w/ KBS Tour 120 Wedges: Indi 50 FLX, 54 FLX, 58 ATK w/ KBS Wedge 610 (Official Review) Putter: Battle Ready Blackjack, 36.5”, Double Bend neck Spornia SPG-7 hitting net review 2023 Titleist White Box ProV1 review
Jmikecpa
Guess I would count today as practice. Played 27 holes to get a groove with new irons and a new 3 and 5 wood along with a new putter I modified in my condo last night. Over played 27 holes in one under at my club in VA then went to the range to hit some wedges in the wind. The 54 is getting swapped out and the 58 is staying. I hit too many full shots with the 54 and the PM grind is just not cutting it. Going back to my 54 I had made for me in the MD4 along with a driver shat change. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Jumbo bucket today. Used the prgr to see my distances. Pretty dead on. Was stroking my 7i ~165 with beautiful flight. Driver SS max was 107. Some hit on the screws. Realize I really need to let my trail atm extend through the shot or I lose them right. Also found my distance from the turf with the super. A couple at 245 total. Might need to play with the shaft a little. Started getting super tired and driver was not working when I was trying to play a simulated round on the range. Thinking I might try a lighter driver shaft (currently 75g rdx blue) for more speed and less fatigue. worked on some short sided chips as well as thick rough chip/pitches. Both worked well. Need the high bounce SW for thick stuff and the 58 works great short sided. Lag putting as well. About 6-10 within 5 ft with one holed from 40 ft. JerryB
Decided on a whim to stop at Goodwill and I'm glad I did; I walked out with a couple Grand Hawk hybrids and two Titleist Vokey SM7 wedges. The hybrids are decent upgrades but the wedges are huge! Naturally I had to try them out so my son, daughter and I went to the range to each hit a bucket. She's coming along nicely; she just used an 8 iron and her swing and striking are getting much more consistent. The new hybrids are different than I'm used to; they look more like woods but with shorter shafts. The Vokeys are tremendous, just feel and sound way better. cksurfdude, russtopherb, Rickp and 1 other 3 1 Quote Cobra Aerojet Max driver Cobra Aerojet Max 3 wood and 7 wood Cobra Aerojet 4/5/6 hybrids Cobra Aerojet 7-PW, GW Cobra Snakebite 52° and 58° wedges Cobra King Stingray 20 putter

Haro
My aiming with the putter was getting inconsistent. Went back to odessay 9 to practice and immediately had some confidence. There something about flow neck that is pleasing to me eye For the longest time whenever I was looking at a pumblers neck or double bend putter was “ugly” neck design to me but I rolled the ball better. when I hold the putter cross handed the neck didn’t bother me at all but when I held the putter conventional seem like I was using the tool in the toolbox the wrong way cksurfdude

Chip shots just off the green or shorter from the fairway, 9 iron (more of a bump and run). If its a really short chip, just off the fringe for example and not puttable, GW. More than 50 yards, probably the 58 until i get to the point where it transitions to the distance of the 53. In essence, the 53 becomes a full wedge swing club. PMookie
Found a range in Longview, TX, to do my swing drills, then played a little course across the street just for fun. I didn’t have a laser, and there wasn’t any GPS for this course, so it was all guesswork. It was pretty fun to just hit some shots, work on some things, and just be care free. Weather was perfect! Syks7
Back at the range after taking a few days off. Today I decided to skip the short game work and hit a medium bucket. I mostly just wanted to hit my new to me m2 & my 3wood with the cut down diamana blueboard shaft that the M2 was wearing when I bought it. I tinkered with both getting the M2 to D4.9 -- heavy for most but kind of my sweet spot. I could only get to D8.9 so I figure I'll counter balance it later to bring the swingweight down. In keeping with the practice for purpose I decided I should also work on my trail arm and takeaway helping my hip turn and also generating a bit more lag and leave the Driver and the 3wood in the bag till the end of the session. Takeaway, trail arm, and hip turn is something I've been working on since I posted my swing and RickyBobby pointed it out. Like most things I work on it was rough for a while but is now feeling pretty good and is for the most part naturally feeling part of my swing now. The only issue I have with it is getting it to work with another 'feel' part of my swing, wrist position at the top to help me shallow the club. It's a little bowed, not DJ bowed, but enough that the feeling I'm looking for is almost like I'm trying to slap my self in myself straight across the shoulder blades with the shaft of the club. So today I spent some more time getting those two 'feel' parts to gell together. Worked on that for about 30 shots and when it started to feel a little more natural I started to work in adding some lag. Initially and occasionally throughout the rest of the bucket that resulted in some hilariously fat shots (trenches) as I tried to release the club. However it also resulted in some longer iron shots (for me) shots when I got it working right. Throughout the iron practice I also threw in something I've been watching videos on -- working the ball using body position and clubface orientation. I didn't try to adjust my swing path. I literally just set up a little open or closed, adjusted the club face toward my target, and went about practicing my swing. So... if that's all it takes to work the ball, I'm a little embarrased about how much time I've spent trying to adjust my swing path to shape the shot I want. It works shockingly well. At the end of the bucket I let myself hit my M2 & 3W -- which in retrospect, after all that practice, is not a bad time to hit my driver and woods. I hit some very solid, for me, 240-250 carry drives with the M2 (clearly I'm still in the honeymoon period) with a nice easy swing. Then tried to put a little more stank on it with some additional lag and takeaway tempo increase and saw the longest carry number I've ever seen off my swing caddie -- 280 -- along with a jump in swing speed to 107 and smash factor of 1.44 (I'm usually averaging right around between 99 and 103 with your standard amateur 1.42 mediocre smash factor.) The kicker is that it was straight. Next up was the 3wood. I'm very happy with this shaft, I was ripping that right from the get go both off the deck and on the tee. Even my mishits seemed be be picking up decent distance. Overall, a very fun session that felt like I was actually doing something other than beating golf balls to death. Popular Post RickyBobby_PR
First time touching a club in 3 weeks and first time at a range that wasn’t pre round warmup. Wanted to focus on just making shorter swings. Even with that thought inn the back swing I was at about full backswing length. Watching the swing and ball flight in the video it’s an ok looking swing but once I broke it down some old flaws are prevalent but with the lack of any practice this year I’m not surprised. Hips don’t get any depth in the backswing and I lose some connection with the arms and chest from rotation of the left arm. Wrist set was late so club gets behind me instead of vertical at left arm parallel. In transition hips spin out rather than left hip back and I don’t cover the ball with my chest. At club parallel in the down swing the toe is to far up and right arm is stuck a little bit, but I’m able to save the shot with some rotation. Winter work is going to be spent working on the drill I posted a few weeks back with the alignment stick on trail hip FullSizeRender.mov sirchunksalot, cksurfdude, Syks7 and 7 others 10 Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1

I was going to say all those things that you said! Maybe start the arms a little sooner run the downswing as Monte says to get unstuck? cksurfdude 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Basically it’s swing arms and body will rotate. I’m the backswing thought is to set wrists late without bending right elbow then samething in the follow thru without bending left elbow. There will be some bend on both. sirchunksalot, cksurfdude and Kenny B 3 Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1
