Definitely, I’ve been doing the same for 20 years.

I don't lose a lot of balls. When one gets a little too worn to play, it goes in my practice bag.  I like to keep the number around a dozen.

I definitely have enough of those good call! I don’t lose much either I could easily take a dozen from the buy 3 get 1  deals titleist does.

I'm definitely going to do this more often, thanks. I use the range bucket on the chipping green almost as a "warm up" before i start taking full swings.

As do I.  On the way to the range with a small bucket before a round, I will stop at the pitching green and hit maybe 10-15 balls.  Each time out I vary the distance from 10-30 yards.

If I am at the course just to practice, I will hit maybe half a medium bucket working on trajectory.  Then pick them up, and head to the range.  After the range I head to the putting green to putt.  If the green is mostly empty, I will practice chipping using my lob and gap wedges with my gamer balls.  Focus is where I want to land the ball.  The more you practice with gamer balls, the better you get at predicting the amount of rollout when you play.

Its been3 weeks since I touched a golf club

Went to the driving range and felt good enough to hit two buckets

Tried double overlap / interlock grip and felt surprising comfortable

Will try to use it on the course

Appendum

just got back on the course and used the double overlap/interlock and was very good with that grip with wedges from 100 yards plus minus 20 yards.
This will be my go to grip for that distance It’s just a simple left arm swing. No extra lower body squat/ speed

I’ve been really working in flighting down the golf ball for months now and I finally after todays practice round think I am now in control of it. Plenty low flighted 7 irons that still span and stopped and a lush if I say so myself pitching wedge kept well down out the wind that one hop stopped exactly as planned.

course was too wet to really do much practice practice but the thought of an hour on the range didn’t find joy so I meandered along enjoying playing golf.

Whilst I completely agree for roll and spin. Range balls are great great tool for drilling chipping swing lengths.

really getting a feel of what a half swing is takes a lot of reps and watching it back on video to say yeah or no it’s miles off.

I agree.  That's what I do on the pitching green.  I work on takeaway and rotating through.  Some days are better than others, LOL!  I will also use gamer balls on the pitching green if it's empty (I don't like to compete with others pitching range balls).

I only use gamer balls when I chip on the putting green.  It's allowed at my course, but not at some courses.  The green is not very wide, but it is 100 feet long.  People putting before a round tend to migrate to the east end, so I can chip on the west end.  When no one is putting, I can chip the entire length with various clubs if I want to.

After a long week at work, I finally had a chance to work on the drills from my coach. It was a productive but not exciting practice session. The weather is still pretty gross around here so there is only so much I can do. I'm finding that I tend to get better contact with a slightly faster tempo. It gives me less time to think and flows better. Also, I noticed if I deliberately slow my tempo down too much I have a tendency to regrip the club in my left hand at the top. Main things I've been focusing on is not getting the hands too high at the top, focusing more on feeling that they get behind me rather than up, and then pushing my left hip back in the downswing vs trying to turn the hips. If I do the other things right, my hands tend to take care of themselves without any excessive physical manipulations of my wrists.

It's been too cold outside to hit into the net the last few days so my swing practice has just been to swing the weighted club to stay flexible.  Even though the mat is in the pole barn my net hangs in the doorway and sliding those doors open gets the full force of the wind...no fun when temps are in the 20's.

It's even too cold and windy to putt outside.  I was given a cheap small roll up putting mat i put in the basement and have been using that in the evenings.

Warmed up enough over the past two days to do some more swing work following my Friday lesson. I was able to get the garage up to a balmy 37 degrees both days. 🥶

Working on letting my front side "bump" down the line a bit to start the downswing. I'm working on feeling my front hip stay in a little more to start the downswing, which gets me starting down correctly. Really impressive results when I get it right, no more left hooks and even some fades.

I was thrilled to see some of the ball and swing speeds today despite it being so cold. I can't wait to get out on the course.

Played a 9 hole practice round for the first time in a while, life has been getting in the way of golf.

Really focussed on my alignment, with significant results from the single sample.
6 GIR, 14 putts, 2 up and down from the bunker. 3 each of pars, bogeys and birdies. 2 of the birdies were stand outs, 20 foot putt after a solid 3 wood on a 225 yard par 3, then a 10 foot putt after a 200 yard 5 wood on a 450 yard par 4.

Correct alignment seemed to remove a few of the compensatory moves out of my swing.

I’ve been busy at work, and weather has really caused me to not have practiced as much as I have wanted to this year. Today it was low 70s and 15mph winds, so I took full advantage. I have an iron fitting coming up, so I wanted to get my swing freed up. I was striking it as good as I have in awhile, maybe the straightest I’ve ever hit. I finished off with 3 foot putts, couldn’t leave until I made 50. Very productive session.

I took the day off today because my wife needed to take her mom to the doctor early today and since I wake up early, I was going to drive. Well, her mom accidentally took her blood thinners and I found out after I got home the appointment got cancelled.

I went to the range and got to swing a club at a ball for the first time in over a week.

I've been working on staying connected during the swing while in the house and wanted to see if it helped, especially on partial wedge shots. It worked out really good, except for the shank I hit on my first shot at 50 yards.

Wedges were good, irons were good, I think I might have figured out something with the driver. I was getting a little steep with it on the backswing and toned it down a touch and was hitting solid drives.

I also took my 5 wood and that was a disaster. I couldn't even muster the ability to top it. I whiffed on several shots, hitting the mat behind the ball and just had it bounce over the ball. It was frustrating, to say the least. It's going to take some work to build back skill and confidence with it.

The good new is, after this week I'm off for two weeks and will be able to get out and play. I just hope the weather cooperates and stays decent.

Used the Planemate today for the second time in the past few days after not doing much in the past few months.  Felt really good to swing a bit and the itch to play again is getting stronger and stronger with every flake of snow and new equipment release.  Going to need to go to the simulator soon!

So had a little time to get some swings in, and try and build from yesterday. I feel like things with my irons and wedges are really coming together. Also, finished up with 20 made putts from 6 feet(4 points around the hole) and the last one has to be made on the first attempt or I go back down to 15( new thing I added to make it interesting).

Back out into a freezing garage for another quick practice session last night. I have been playing with different setups trying to find something that really let me bump into my front hip to start the downswing without so much of my front knee collapsing.

I found that my front foot flare was getting a little obnoxious (25+ degrees), so I went back to basically 0 or maybe 5-10 degrees of lead foot flare. That helped me post up better on my front side and really improved my low point control. Putting the leg in less of external rotation to start also freed up my backswing more.

Few clunkers in there (especially with the 4 utility - orange dots below), but my overall dispersion and distance continue to trend in the right direction:

Used the Planemate today for the second time in the past few days after not doing much in the past few months.  Felt really good to swing a bit and the itch to play again is getting stronger and stronger with every flake of snow and new equipment release.  Going to need to go to the simulator soon!

Is it Spring yet?

Right winter can end any time now

Looks like  my area is going to get its fist real touch of winter.  Nearly 60 yesterday, sleet/freezing rain/snow today and the later tomorrow anywhere from 0” to 27” depending on which weather model you watch. 😂.  General answer seems to be in the 6” range which will cripple my area for a few days.

Yeah I am sure we will see the images of many stranded cars with that much snow down south. Hope everyone stays safe.

Going to be a re broadcast of the people stuck on I95 for 20+ hours from a few weeks ago.
I’ve been working from home and am caught up on most wanted testing so no reason to go out.

To put it quickly. It was not a good day to practice. Finished up all my meetings and reports early so I hit the range for a bit before heading home. Probably would have been better off skipping today. Just one of those days where one or two things are off just enough to ruin everything else.
