I like this, and how simple and cheap to be able to do it on the range. Good stuff!

Range finally open after been closed for 6month.  First time in a long time I worked on my irons primarily  and then hit about 10 balls with my driver. Felt a little stiff but like every time you go to the range. You find something new that made you hit the ball consistently for that session.  Weird hitting the range, since I mostly work on my short game, i was glad that it wasn't a complete was of time.
Until next month hit the range work again.. LOL

Range session after work today. Not the best day overall, but was able to make some minor adjustments and get things on track. Was pushing things a bit right to start but got it straightened out and finished off with a handful of shots with my 5 iron and 3 wood. They tend to give me to most problems so I figured they would show any glaring problems with what I felt like fixed the issue. Must have done something right because I don't think I've hit my 3 wood that consistently well since I put it in the bag. Overall, happy with where things are at, now I just need free time to play more often.

Had a long and productive range session Friday evening after working from home all day completing a lot of required computer work.

There is a newer, 3 year old range that is north of my home location that is really starting to take shape as it was originally a large vacant field in between a couple of small towns.

Spent a couple hours with SWMBO also there watching, and started with my usual short game chipping that I can do at home, and then worked through the bag from full wedges, to full iron shots.

Only being able to get a round in this year while out of town for work, this time spent was well worthwhile, and I honestly did not have more than a handful of shots where the results were anything but good.

I did not attempt to swing fairway woods or driver, typically I try to get a few rounds or practice in with irons to get everything required in a good swing/result back to mid-season form.

Posted a few pictures of the range, so even though SWMBO had recent surgery, she was able to both move around, and then sit as she wanted too.

Solid hour and a half practice session today in the quickly warming up heat of central California. Should be hitting triple digits soon, but today was lower 90s. Popped in my earbuds and pretty much ignored the existence of everyone around.

Got warmed up and then hit through the bag. Wanted to see if the off season speed work showed throughout the bag. Overall pretty solid results with irons showing 4-5 mph more speed and 8-10 mph gain with the woods. Gapping was still where I wanted it to be, just going to adjust for a little more distance throughout. After that I spent a bit of time with driver specifically because it is one of my more inconsistent clubs. Overall good results with a few wild flyers that I need to try to get rid of.

Moved onto some work with the wedges hitting different distances with all of my wedges and also worked on learning to hit a bit more of a lower flighted wedge shot. That was fun and actually had some success hitting that flighted shot all the way up through about the 7 iron. May not need that shot too often, but it's nice to have. Finished up with about 20 minutes on the putting green. I still absolutely hate putting practice but I'm convinced that I need to do it. I miss having golf friends to have little competitions with on the practice green. I'm competitive enough to get into putting practice in that situation, but bored outta my skull by myself.

Tried working on tempo today with irons and driver. Also got side tracked and demoed a paradym TD. One of the best sounding drivers. Feels fast and stable.  It was 3 mph faster than my epic max on CHS today. Sadly ball speed wasn’t there with my gamer shaft. Maybe my swing isn’t releasing enough or I am just not transferring energy enough. Who knows. Irons were rough today. Lots of fats and pushes. Need to really focus on hitting inside of the ball and trying to hit the toe.
Then focused 30 mins on putting. 20 on lag/ ladder drills and then ten footers to either make or tap in. 10ft really killed me last round.

Found this 30 day practice series and worked on some of the moves on it today. Two things I really need to focus on. At the top, doing what they call a palmer rotation to get my lead wrist flat. When I was practicing this today varying degrees of rotation lead to straight or hooks. it was an interesting feeling. The other was proper release of the club, feeling like there is a string attached to lead hip which connects to the butt of your club and you have to pull it as fast as you can. Both these things were something my coach wanted me to work on and I think i found some good drills to do this with.

working on my putting

Rather than aiming at the hole or a spot inline with the hole

I picked a spot 3 feet behind the hole and lining my eyes to the line

If theres a L to R  break I can read and adjust to it

still having problems with Right to left breaks

Been doing extra practice reading green from low side

Aim high and open the blade a blade( I m lefty)  and just think speed

Sometime closing my eyes so my eyes and head doesnt dart toward the cup and spot behind the cup  and mess up up my posture . I want my head to swivel

very good teaching video

.  After 1st time out on the course I was swinging my iron like the 3rd demo mark was describing

Way inside takeaways and  then  to hit it straight line  and it ended up hooking

Its just more difficult to image a curve right to left  along the ground and in the air when I setup to hit my irons

I have a fear setting up to the right and swinging to that direction and the ball will not come back with draw

But reality  when I try to hit it straight it will hook , great video explanation

What I try to do now to see the "circle"  is to swing along my torso  which is circular

Swinging along my armpit plane in a circular pattern works for me

Hit a large bucket after work on a beautiful afternoon yesterday. Recently I've been struggling with the mid-long irons/hybrids (6i-4h) which is frustrating because I've typically been able to get solid contact with them.

I focused on approaching each ball like I would each stroke on the course, finding my target, a repeatable setup and  ball location. Then swing with easy tempo and let gravity do the work...

I felt really good about my 6i getting back to my typical yardage and  flying em straight. The hybrids were still a struggle so I finished off with a few wedges  40-100yds to pick my spirits up for the ride home. We'll keep at it!

Too busy with work to get to the course, so I rolled putts until I made 50 putts on the perfect putting mat from 6 feet. I like being able to line up a sharpie line and see how I am rolling the ball. Hopefully it translates to my rounds this weekend.

Question for people who practice frequently on a net without any type of launch monitor.

How many balls do you typically hit and what are you looking to accomplish?

I've been hitting into the net pretty frequently over the last 6 months or so, much more than I am able to get to a course.  I typically only hit 30, maybe 40 balls at a time and usually just work on ball striking.  I use the foot spray a lot to get a gauge of where I am striking the ball on the clubface. I have found this to be very beneficial to my game as my iron play and ball striking has improved drastically over the last year.  It's not rocket science to me, you work on one aspect of your game and it gets better.  I guess my questions is there anything anyone has done while hitting on nets to improve wedges, 75 yards and in?  That is such a difficult distance/shot for me to get a feel on how I am doing without watching the complete ball flight and is definitely the part of the game I need to work on the most.

Not sure there's any reliable way to do it without a launch monitor unfortunately. With the wedges i feel you like you really need to see flight and distance and it's so feel based(at least for me).

Stopped in to hit a bucket today. Started with the 50 degree hitting to a pin 110yds out, landed 5 of 6 shots within 20 feet. Next was 8i and 5i to loosen up, then on to the reason I stopped in. The remainder of the bucket (approx. 40 balls) was used to work out an issue I’ve been having with the driver. Focused on 3 things: staying behind the ball through impact, club path in to out, and proper release. Overall, progress was made. The best drives I hit of the lot weren’t the furthest but rather the ones that created these results:

IMG_0607.png.587b8d00c12b40969e69ccd770e14c73.png

This one had a baby draw on it.
IMG_0608.png.9582e4f4a35fe220e0109c9b36d9842b.png

Decent shape. Good result

IMG_0609.png.f3cd2f661e000f43f43bcc63903b77e7.png

My battle with the driver has been an excessive amount of spin that is sapping my distance. Because these things tend to be cyclical and the good lord rarely gives with both hands, my ball striking with my irons has been above average. About the time I get this driver figured out, the irons will go to seed again. If I didn’t love this game so much…

Played a nice Stanley Thompson designed local 9-hole with my buddy yesterday.

Chipping wasn't great, putting was atrocious... but my driver... it came to play!

I sky'd the first drive on the first hole, but after that, I hit every fairway of every driver hole, and I hit 2 of the best drives I've ever hit in my entire golfing lifetime.

The single plane swing seems to work wonders for my driver, and yesterday was just more evidence to me that I need to keep implementing that technique.

another golftec lesson last night and managed to impress the instructor.

this shot had 0 side spin. It was laser straight. said he doesn't see that very often. 😉

so far pleased with my experience. worked a little on full swing and chipping. helped me with my setup and swing path a lot. things you really need a camera to see.

I am part of the superspeed test and I took the PRGR radar to the range today. You can read all about it through clicking the link below. After I got my baseline swing speed I spent the rest of the time there working on my mechanics for my backswing. I got a few tips while at my PGA HOPE session yesterday and was just trying to practice those things. Seems to be helping, I am hitting the ball straighter.

My nephew and I eat, breathe, and sleep Georgia Southern. Not sure there's a word for our level of fandom/involvement haha.

Oh awesome, I played offensive line there from 2008-2012.  Love that place, University golf course is fun track also. I try to get down once a year for a football game and play the course.

Heck yeah man, we were there together then. I was there the same years, became friends with a lot of the guys on the team and probably crossed paths with you often. You should try to join us for the Donors Tournament in August! Won it two years ago with a 71 but it has moved to a scramble. It's at the University Course.

... I was born and raised in the South and as much as I love OLineman I do think it is kinda remedial to have to remind hillbilly students in Georgia that they are in the South. (although lineman I understand needing a reminder) 🫣

Been a couple years since i've been back (which is a crime since i'm only an hour away). Need to get back up there and play it. Very fun course and i'd like to think I'm a better golfer now than when i was in school so would hopefully be even more enjoyable
