What/How did you practice today?

What didn't I practice today.. nor yesterday...

Kinda funny story - yesterday drive towards the range .. one, then two, then a third large work truck on the side of the road partially blocking traffic .. get a little further and .. yep: road work. One lane backed up.

Turn around, come home.

Today - ha ha I'm smart, I'm going to the range in the opposite direction! Get there .. everything appears strangely quiet .. pull in .. yep: range closed. Drive to the other side of the lot - practice green closed.

Turn around, come home.

Hard to think of a cheaper training aid than some foot spray... Worth every penny

Finally got to do some “chipping” after what seems forever. Was pleased with results after 4+ months. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Went out and played Exec 9 last night, first 9 holes in almost 6 months since my shoulder surgery! Played from forward or white tees, nothing stronger than an 8i and 3/4 swing. SWMBO drove the cart t

Spectacular day. I haven’t swung a club in two weeks. Hit 20 drivers, a bunch of GWs, 20 8 irons, 20 52s. Really pounded driver.

I can’t play until after Christmas but I can practice a few times and will.

It felt good to hit the ball.

Ping G410 - turned down to11.25 degrees, neutral setting - Fujikura Motore X R flex

Ping G410 5-9 wood

Wilson D7 forged 6-GW -  Mamiya recoil 460 R flex

SCOR 52,60

EVNRoll ER 5

Titleist Pro VIx optic yellow with revkev stamped on them

Currently testing Edison wedges to replace SCORS that are wearing out. Also auditions for the 14th spot in the bag.  Current possibilities are a Ping 26 degree hybrid - duplicates the 9 wood or 5 iron but would be used almost exclusively for chipping or Tour Exotics 3 wood simply because you can carry 14 clubs and I might occasionally hit it in certain unusual wind conditions once every four or five rounds.

Wedge distance practice.  Hit a lot of 50 yard shots trying to shorten my backswing length.  took some video to see how far back I was going.  Took a while to get here;  felt like my left hand was just getting past my right thigh.

tried to work on my long game today. Driver is a wreck with the new technique. I almost want to abandon it to save my drivers life. I went back to my close to single plane swing and then things worked better.

3w was a struggle, even coked a little down. 3H was best it’s been and making me consider keeping it. DI was solid of the deck.

what impressed me most was some really solid mid iron strikes today and some wedge distance control practice. If I can ever get my long game figured out, watch out.

As I’ve said before No gym this past year has been....shittttay. My stretching for the first half of the year was mediocre at best and it shows over the season. tried a drill from one of Monte’s videos to try and stabilize my left shoulder. This seemed to help with the driver (6i also looked better). Now all I need to do is be able to hit a ball with this.

Working both external and internal rotation of the hips! I've been doing the 90/90 a lot, also a modified child's pose with a block (or in my case, cardboard box) between my feet. Stretches the lower back and hip flexors all at the same time.

Yes! The child’s pose has open up my back so much. Have you done the 90/90 and rotate to the other side into the same position! Woof it works. My hip mobility is night and day. life changing not just golf

I wanted to play today, but work has kept me busy lately. I wanted to hit some balls, but not be away from the wife too long, so I went to the range.

I mostly focused on irons and wedges today and making sure my alignment was right. Started out hitting wedges, shanking them consistently. I got frustrated with that and moved on to irons where I hit them pretty good and was starting to dial in a bit of accuracy. I still hit a few left, but the left miss was starting to be less pronounced. I realized I have to feel like my shoulders are aiming at the target which makes me feel like I'm aiming way right. My feet are parallel to the target line and I just need to learn to trust my aim point.

Driver was good along with the 5 wood. I struggled last weekend with the 5, but a slight change in ball position (back a little more) had me ripping them.

I finally went back to hitting chips, thinking about the video @cnosil posted and realized my stance was too wide and hit better shots.

It's still a work in progress, but I was thinking back on my iron play from a couple of years ago and realized it has improved over time. I used to hate having an iron in hand and now I'm loving the challenge of improving with them.

Had another lesson yesterday where we went back to working on the full swing (using an 8i); last two lessons were chipping which really helped.

Definitely showing progress!

But the point i wanted to convey... Somewhere way back.. I think in this thread.. I think it was @revkev that mentioned.. amateurs should generally make a full swing, vs e.g. a 3/4 swing, with their irons.

As we were going through the lesson, my swing got "looser" and more confident .. and I felt like I was able to start to really go after the ball. My distance picked up and dispersion tightened. Yea!

To finish the lesson, the instructor set up a target green on the LM just a few yards shorter than the average of my practice / learning shots. And all of a sudden .. yep .. a little tension, a little too much thinking about it, and the swing is a little constricted ...

I'd had a feeling about my approach shots - that while trying to steer the shot towards the target, while also trying to work the distance with an off-full speed swing, was not helping but conversely hurting me - and this exercise really made me internalize that!!

So from now on it's full bore ⛳🏌️

Worked on a couple things today. Did some bump and run work which I think will be super beneficial for me.

second is continuing doing planemate work. Did some at home and the range, really focusing on takeaway and rotation. Also noticed when I took it off and did practice swings, hand position seemed good. When I then added a ball, it’s like I felt I needed to overswing and then would over rotate. Many things to work on this winter.
