I could very well be wrong here so please correct me if I am to better explain it but here is what I consider the positions

I guess instead of P1 I could have said address? I myself call it P1 as it is the first position I am getting into when in play.

P2 is give or take below the hips to check take away and club face

P3 is hip height where I prefer to have my wrist fully set

Impact is self explanatory. I just do impact as I have a tendency to push the club handle away/right instead of pulling it thru and left

You are correct. It was reading confusing as you would say back to p1. Not many proper reference going back to p1 or use it as a description for drills.

p2 is club shaft parallel to ground. P3 is lead arm parallel to the ground. P3 would be above hip height. It’s basically a 1/2 swing

Ok! That was my understanding of the positions but I've been wrong before haha.

P3 is correct from what you saying i just use hip heigh as a reference but not a good 1 evidently.

Day 68 (21 Mar 24) - Played solo round at one of the local courses today.  As I was behind the Thurs regulars, pace was slower.  Allowed me to hit a few extra balls into the greens.  Overall a good day across the bag…

Playing in a 2-man stableford at mccormick woods tomorrow, so got in some practice today. 50 full swings focused only on keeping my recently strengthened lead hand where it belongs, especially knuckles down at parallel on the downswing. Then 20 shots to different targets. Then 30 minutes putting with the PutterCups. 3-footers to the Speed Bump until I make all 10 from a circle in a row. Then same with 4-footers. Then must make 5/10 around a circle of 6-footers to the Center Cup. Then a circle of 10 8-footers to just the hole. Optimistic for tomorrow!

Haven't hit in a couple of days because the weather hasn't been great. I'm finding now that I've got past the "I haven't played in months, I'm jonesing" stage of the year I'm not that interested in playing/practicing when conditions aren't good.

Will hit the range after work today in preparation for the first tournament of the season on Sunday. Probably just hit a bucket, but I may see if I can grab a quick 9.

Got to run home for lunch: this working so close to home is awesome! @cnosil, I was perusing the internet and found this low point drill as well. I incorporated it along with the flat balls for my afternoon regiment. Concept is like your towel method, I'm supposing. The concept it to not hit the rear tee, and clean up the front tee. My only complaint with this drill is if the net doesn't catch the tee, you're looking for tees in your yard! I worked this idea this afternoon and it definitely works... along with the flat balls works very well! I spent about 20 minutes hitting flat balls, then hitting normal balls with the tees down. It is quite revealing! That rear tee did get topped a few times!

More time spent on FlightScope Skills app at the sim today. Feeling more and more dialed in on wedge distances the more I do the drills. Rainy, windy and cold, so didn't fancy hitting the outdoor range. Ha. I did a couple of 'tests'- one a quicker target set (5 targets, 5 shots at each) to end the warm up and then the 'full combine' with 3 shots at each of 25 targets increasing in distance from 20 yards to 250 yards.

Stats for today's session continue to give me hope for the season. Driving was very good. Less of a two way miss than some sessions over winter. Recent drills/ swing changes and simplified swing thoughts seem to be helping and becoming more second nature. On the sim and range at least.

image.png.2c4b75f8df29786e431707a7a3f220bf.png

Approach/ irons were pretty good too:

image.png.b80add9c5240edc9bdaff3f403f32c39.png

After the above, I played a sim round (with 'computer decides' putting) and shot a 2-under par 70. All in all, a very successful and satisfying session!

We finished T-4 Gross, 1st Net in the 2 man stableford. Ham and egg’ed it all the way, only one hole we both made par on. About 9 of the holes were in a steady rain. Shot my course handicap of 10, but am excited to keep improving.

Practiced with driver and 3 wood since trimming them.

3 wood feels fantastic, was averaging 230yds with straight to slight fade off the mat.

Driver I was getting out to 240, but the launch and spin with the Tensei white might be unplayable for me. Was only averaging 2k spin with some not even hitting 2k. Going to give it a whirl anyways for today’s round, and have 3 wood to step in if it’s not going well. Driver average skewed cause of a chip shot I forgot to delete.IMG_2454.jpeg.12b129840f62e8ad210724a2683f7427.jpeg

Putting practice - Yardstick drill today; took 13 tries to get 10 successfully down the length of a metal yardstick, which is my personal best. the putter I used is an old Odyssey 2-Ball which I have counterbalanced with lead tape on the head and a 50-gram weight in the Super Stroke grip.

I should have been more accurate in the description, it is the "slap shot" drill (much like a hockey slap shot)...here is a link to one of the many videos on YouTube...

At the end of the drill you will see how he moves from the open grip of a hockey stick to a golfer grip.  I start with the hockey grip and allow the trail hand to collapse to the lead hand as I move through 'impact' into finish...

It has really helped me with weight shift and follow thru - especially as I have had to learn to “trust” my lead foot (motorcycle wreck took the toes/skin grafts in ‘16) to take weight transfer.

Got out for 9 today - my course is still in Winter mode .. no tee markers and temp greens in the fairways - so a practice round.

Ball striking with longer clubs was mostly decent (on a relative basis) .. tho I did struggle again on the two short Par 3s... I know I have a lot more work to do on my irons but yeah this just hammered that point home. Again 🤷‍♂️

When I got close, I practiced pitching, chipping or using a 5H or 5W to "putt" to the flags. Fairways were cored so they're nice and bumpy, plus the grass is still thinner in spots, so some funny bounces and unpredictable amounts of rollout.

But overall really good practice and a good day to be out there!!

Thought this video of Scottie's range session was interesting. Only about 20mins of hitting, and he keeps picking random targets/shots throughout instead of the same thing over and over. Also, how would you feel knowing Scottie is trying to hit balls at you 😂

Windy, but productive range session today. Nice feel for me lately is to feel my knees squeezing a ball in the backswing. Really keeps me centered. Combined it with feeling my spine tilt stay consistent and I hit some really good shots.

Wet and cold for a few days again but hopefully Friday I'll be back out there. Can't wait for it to become consistently nice enough to be out there everyday.

Did my first Rypstick session today using the app. Three swings of the "freezer" each way (righty and lefty) with no weight, 1 weight and two weights. Freezer is hold for 5-8 seconds at the top of your backswing, lifting your front heel, before starting the downswing. Then three swings each way at each weight level with the lead heel lift (a step beyond what you did in the freezer). The best way I can describe lead heel lift is like stepping into the pitch when you were playing baseball, then firing the swing from the top. The app gives you instructions of how and when to swing. Then I was supposed to do a set of 5 baseline swings to get a speed level, but I don't yet have a radar unit that will pick up swing speeds if no ball is being hit. It appears I will have to buy one soon. Fortunately it's only like $100.

Edit: Ordered the radar unit last night.

Day 72 (25 Mar 24) - full day with project at home, managed to get some easy pitch shots in with the PW in the backyard this afternoon.  Always like these mindless drills, where all I think about is a smooth tempo thru the ball…

WITB? Ping G400 SFT w/Aldila Mamba shaft R flex; Ping G410 3w; Ping G400 3h(19), 4h(22), 5h(26); TaylorMade SLDR 5i (interchanges w/5h)-PW -stock graphite shafts Rflex; INDI FLX-S wedges (50, 54, 58) w/Recoil graphite shafts -Rflex and Odyssey AI-One 7T BD Milled (aka Millie), ball choice tends to be Pro-V1 or simliar 3pc urethane balls.

Alright, so I did get out to the range today to work on tempo. What I found is my 58 degree pw, 8 iron, 6 iron, and my two fairway woods I was dead on what I wanted to do. My other irons to include my GW and my driver were foreign to me on the range. Like I didn’t know how to hit the center of the face. You could have drawn a map and I would have turned left at Memphis instead of right.

Practiced short pitch shots with my 58* wedge, hitting 10-15 yards with high, medium and low trajectories.  Only did this for about 15-minutes as it is cold, windy and about to rain today.

Thought this video of Scottie's range session was interesting. Only about 20mins of hitting, and he keeps picking random targets/shots throughout instead of the same thing over and over. Also, how would you feel knowing Scottie is trying to hit balls at you 😂

Love this practice session! All feel, very little technical critiques. Mind you, if I struck it as well as Scottie, I probably wouldn't be worried much about technique either. Thanks for sharing!

Max Homa must have watched this and hit at people as well!

I appreciate that they are just having a normal conversation while hitting balls around…and for as good as Scottie is, they still are giddy after a great shot!

No practice today, just feeling like crud. Woke up with a bad cold, went to work and they sent me home at lunch. Just going to do some stretching, yoga and light resistance work today, work up a little lather. Video is from driver work yesterday, pulling my arms slightly still before impact. Work to be done! I had to zip tie my net: punched a hole in it. I wish I could say it's because the swing was so sweet, but it's from the constant pounding on that spot! Oh, and still wearing the turtleneck.... still quite brisk around here!

I hope everyone is having a great day!
