PICTURE OF THE NEW CAMERON WEIGHTED PUTTERS AND PICTURE OF A KIRK CURRIE PRECEPT PUTTER HE DESIGNED IN THE EARLY 90'S. IS IT JUST ME OR IS THE WEIGHT SYSTEM ON THE NEW SCOTTY CAMERON PUTTER LOOK SIMILAR TO THE KIRK CURRIE PUTTER?

it does look fairly similar but i wouldn't say anything like he stole the design, because theres only so many ways to skin a cat. Also look at how many people make slight and i mean slight changes to the anser type putter and call it their own.

If you look at Scotty's tour slideshows on his website, when he adds weight ports after the fact to tour pros putters the weights he adds look JUST like the ones on that Precept putter.

I'm with SirMatticus on this one. Yes, it is a similar method, but far from being earth-shattering in resemblance to the Currie putter. Currie just threaded brass plugs and screwed them in. Cameron refined the process quite a bit, IMHO.

I am NOT a huge Cameron fan, so please don't take this as just another Cameronite preaching the word of Scotty. I just don't see that much similarity in the work. Kirk's work has never been my favorite, but he has had some solid success. I always wondered why he stayed away from a solid bond between his hosels and heads, or even went with a one-piece milling.

Guys will always find issues to stir a pot. Just not worth stirring in this case.

Just My Opinion,

I would prefer the Currie weight ports to the Cameron. Currie looks adjustable with a simple allan or star wrench and the Cameron looks subject to slippage and a fairly long search for the right tool. Of the two, the Currie looks much more adjustable.

As for similarity, it's probably unavoidable. There isn't a lot of choice as to weight port placements.

The cameron system doesn't need any special tool, just a pair of slip ring pliers. And if you put thread lock on them like Scotty does at the factory, they're not going anywhere.

Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up. Bomb and gouge. Yes, I'm a club gigolo.
