Whatever type of "Black Oxide" you are using is really too thick - covering all the milling on the face, and way too glossy.  Looks more like Black Nitriding or PVD to me, but I'm open to you educating me?
Pvd would never cover the milling, pvd and dlc are probably the thinnest durable coatings available actually dlc being best imho

The putters were rusty, dinged and dented and in overall awful shape to begin with and basically had no facemilling remaining. I just do this as a hobby I don't have the ability to remill faces. The owners of the putters understood that I'd need to at least lightly sand the face to prep it for the finish and were OK with the shallow lack of milling or requested complete removal of the milling marks. These putters were all requested to be glossy and probably look overglossy because they are oiled.

First a little background on this project, i wish i had taken "before" pictures of this putter. This was stored in what used to be our storage unit(see picture of whats left). This was hit by lightning a week ago. Some of the only salvageable items were golf equipment...imagine that, well I should say only the heads of golf equipment. Items that survived we're my son's junior putter head which is pictured, some Srixon Z965 iron heads, a couple other putter heads and to my surprise a Mizuno ST180 driver head. Anyways when I take my son golfing(profile pick) he loves to putt and was devastated that we lost his clubs in the fire. First and foremost I wanted to replace his putter and decided to refinish this before any other clubs. I wished I had taken before pictures of this so i could show the actual damage this club had taken from the fire. Anyways he picked out the color scheme to match his school colors. I think it turned out well. The grip is an older Scotty black pistol with red lettering so it looks good with the putter. I used Cerokote to coat the head a semi gloss black. Cerokote in my experience holds up really well and is very durable.

Wanted to see what would happen if I torch some forged irons. I wasn’t able to find a place yet that will allow me to get them stripped at an affordable price. Quotes of about $35 per head. Nope. I have an older set of excellent condition Cobra S3 pro combos. I wasn’t sure if it would even work so I didn’t do any prep work of stripping the paint fill, or clean and degreasing it. I just wanted to see if it would torch. So I tried it with the 4 iron since I dont use a 4 iron in the bag. I have the 4 and 5 iron head for comparison I think they came out really nice. So I will proceed with the entire set. I also realize that the torching will wear over time but I’ll just redo it when they start to look like they need it.

Went ahead with the torching. Added some white paint fill. They aren’t perfect, but they look really good. I wish I had all the proper tools for This.
