WhiteChocolate
Hello. I am heading out tomorrow afternoon for a round at The Pinehills in Plymouth, MA Looks like it will be 50s and raining. A couple guys in my fore some took extra poking and prodding to not back out. Was curious on everyone's thoughts on playing in the rain? I feel as long as you are mentally prepared than it's not so bad. Can't ruin the day if I already know it's going to be cruddy out. Cheers! Liberty Ball Markers
My group plays no matter what (as long as the course will let us out). Rain and wind just add a different element/challenge to the game. We also play year-round, which means temps below freezing in january & february. It requires a different approach and a little patience, but at least we're swinging clubs all winter! revkev
I live in Florida. If I didn't play in the rain I wouldn't play in the summer. I grew up in New England, played in rain, freezing rain, sleet, flurries, you name it. Make sure you have good hear and resolve yourself to enjoy the challenge of the weather as part of golf's unique challenge. Having a pint of your favorite beverage helps too. BigtazzGolf
Our group is called TGA, Tennessee GolfNuts Association. We play in anything and pick on the guys that back out of our weekend rounds due to weather lol. All in fun of course. Bad weather means less traffic on the course and more fun for us. Some courses let us get in a 2nd 18 in at a nice rate just to get lil extra revenue. Dress accordingly, club up and go into it knowing your not gonna play your best usually and you'll have fun. Kenny B
I live in the desert, so I don't HAVE to play in the rain. If it's raining, I just wait 10 minutes and its over. So far this year we have had 6 inches total; that's twice what we had last year at this time. That said, it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow but we are only supposed to get 0.5 inches, so my wife and I are headed out to play at 11am. It's also supposed to be 65* so I won't be bundling up, but I might have to put on my Nike Bandon Dunes golf boots. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy mobile app Only time I played in the rain and made it through a round was a tournament years ago. Had to have 2-3 inches of rain starting on the first hole, and the deluge opened up really around hole 15-16. I'm talking full on pouring. The flights behind us were completely soaked, while I packed the umbrella and got in relatively dry for the most part. Most of the time though I stick indoors. I don't like playing when the course is that soaked and every shot you get mud all over your clothes. I'd like to play when it's drizzling but we don't have that often here in AZ. PlaidJacket
I don't play in the rain if I have a choice. It's generally not conducive to good golf. Besides, where I live golf is playable year round. So, if it's raining I don't start. If it starts while playing I'll take shelter and wait 5-10 minutes while it usually passes.
