Dymo str8-fit shear problems?

Recommended Posts

I've now heard from two Dymo/Dymo2 str8 owners that their shafts sheared off at the top of the str8-fit adapter. One had his driver replaced, one got a refund.

Has anyone else has had this experience or heard of other problems with the early str8 drivers?

It's not a problem exclusive to the Dymo or any other driver out there. The breakage was likely due to improper tip prep. It's not Nike's fault just as it wouldn't be TM's fault for their adapter having breakages, or the iMix adapter or the non-adapter hosels any other manufacturer makes. It's not exclusive to any brand, and the shafts aren't from the brand. The shafts are made at a different location by a different manufacturer and then I believe Nike farms out the assembly of their clubs too, so there is another hand in the process. If the tip is prepped incorrectly and weakened, it's going to snap, just like in any other clubhead. It's not Nike's fault just like it's not any other manufacturer's fault. Shafts are going to break, especially graphite shafts. When is the question.

Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up. Bomb and gouge. Yes, I'm a club gigolo.

I recently broke two shafts....3 weeks apart on a 4 month set of irons...(PowerBilt AFO 6 & 9 iron)...Is it the club mfg fault?

As long as they replace them, I don't really care....they have experts to ascertain why the shafts broke.

I just need to stay confident that I can swing the irons without hesitation. So far they have replaced them with new clubs...and said if a third breaks, they will replace the entire set.

Mystery solved. I recently purchased a Str8-fit adapter to try another shaft in the Dymo2 head.

There is no coning where the shaft enters the adapter, it is a 90* angle, thus there will be no epoxy to cushion the shaft. Sure formula for early shaft failure.
