Was listening to the Michael Breed show on Sirius Radio PGA channel this am.Found it interesting that the USGA determined that less than 12% of golfers take lessons.Mr Breed than added it shows how competitive the teaching communtiy can be.And how he changed his philosophies for teaching amateurs to accommodate our needs.Their biggest rants in this segment was our expectations and time constraints when taking lessons.Michael, asks his students to give him 5 minutes a day.And at least 2-30 minute range sessions weekly to work in his new drills.He found out that many a student can't even sacrifice this small amount of time due to busy conflicting schedules.And also noted that many of our expectations from lessons are way too unrealistic.Many will never look or hit like Tiger woods.But he claims A few of his clients can't get over these ultra high expectations of themselves.Was an Interesting podcast with him and many guest teachers claiming same issues with students.If I can find a link to the podcast I will post it

I think he charges around 500 per hour.

 

If I have a limited budget and I could pay 60 dollars for a round of golf or 60 dollars for someone to give me a lesson there's no question what I'm choosing...

I used to be like you.But for me, and the 12% of lesson takers according to the USGA.We are Looking to make the game more enjoyable for us by learning a better game.Not sure price is an issue for many if long term benefits were positive.And positive meaning lowering handicaps-gaining more distance and consistency.

Price is definitely an issue. Some of us don't have an income that allows for much more than actually "playing golf". The rest goes to keeping the wolves off the door step.

Went to the JFK museum and library today...he was a pretty good golfer...might have been the best Presidential golfer...cool place. If you get the chance it's worth it.

I just don't see myself using it as much as I should honestly.

Shoulder was really improving over the last months.As of late, the pain has returned again.Im thinking that I may have found out why.Oddly, the pain returns when I hit more than a handful of drivers.The iron swing doesn't seem to aggravate it at all.So glad I have an appointment in a few days to the shoulder specialist.

That weather looks like fun. How did the guys do? High scores due to weather? I have a buddy from my high school golf team who missed kaking it through local qualifiying by three strokes. I think he had a double, too!

I used to do this to the shop staff at Seminole in North Palm. If you know anything about this place it was where Hogan would warm up before Augusta and is uber exclusive.

 

Only difference was the phone calls would be regarding how much they charge for a pull cart and if we can get a senior discount.

Growing up my grandmother always had a wooden planter box on her front porch where she would grow strawberries for us kids to pick when we came over. I always looked forward to our trips to Portland to visit her.

 

She passed a few years ago and I finally planted my own Strawberries on the back porch planter this past weekend. Keeping those good memories rolling!

Pretty sure I just witnessed my first tornado.  It ripped through the woods outside my office and took out a swath of trees close to 50 feet wide and several hundred feet long.

We just had the siren's sound. Last time they went off e had EF1 hit about a mile from my house. #headforthebasement
