Did try a 7i indoors at a recent demo day .. on a bad swing day for me, of course (the demo curse! ..you tech guys know what I mean ) .. and wasn't sure they're right for me, but...

Testing would give me more time .. outdoors! .. with them and obviously a chance to hit all the irons and see if they magically improve not just my distance but really my dispersion...?

PS: the lofts are so strong on these there's not just a Gap wedge but they had to add an Approach wedge between the GW and the SW..!!

That's what will keep my name out of the mix, the loft of these would make me want a new Vokey. Then my UT might bump a hybrid out of the bag...it would be a first world mess of issues. I'm still adjusting to my 6i-AW covering 26.5-48° of loft and about to add a 24° to the mix. I have enough testing to do on my own irons in the coming weeks  

I'll wait for a test that really makes me go "Ooooohhhh"

It's just nice to have one of them out there in the wild... it's been really hard to keep the cap on this year's member testing without the top blowing off!

I check occasionally and it’s amazing that it brings in the “Free Stuff” Surfers. Mods will figure it out.  80% can be removed quickly.

I just looked at the community map. @JohnSmalls it looks like I will be in your neck of the woods. My daughters track meet is a Winthrop University today and tomorrow. Leaving my house in about 40 minutes to head over.

Yeah kinda what I'm thinking.... The distance is certainly appealing but I need "playable" distance. Def gonna try an official iron fitting to find what's good for me!

The sub70 699 pro black really catches my eye. Going from Apex '19 to those would simplify my set because I would only need 6i-PW to replace my 6i-AW. Their PW is actually a wedge loft and not a mislabeled 9i.

Interesting that when I looked at the Community map my marker was missing.  I could not add a marker either.  But when I went and clicked on the map and tried to set a marker it asked if I wanted to update my information and VOILA! my marker was back, my username back in the right column Cast of Characters, number of markers updated, geometric shape on the search map included my end of Lake Erie location, etc.

Everyone - If you have not checked your Community Map marker you should go in and reactivate it, looks like things might be hidden (or not).

Record is Titleist T series irons with just over 15,000 applications.

The Voice Caddie V2? @GolfSpy_BNG tested had just over 12,000

It will slow after tomorrow as all the social pushes and Promotions are done.

That’s insane…. Quite the task to narrow down from so many!

I know I have gone over this somewhere, but worth repeating. It may be in the Want to be a tester thread, first post. 

Anyway we filter the applicants. Profile photos are a must, then we filter for roughly 20 posts and then we are left with maybe 5% and if we go to 50 or more posts it is 2% of the applications. Nearly 90% are one off or "tester only" applicants who only sign up for tests. 

All in all we create our short list which @GolfSpy_BOS transfers over, we all give our input and usually there is some overlap on who we like for a test and have a bit of discussion on who we want. Some cases we don't select someone because we feel they would be better for another test or they have tested irons recently etc. 

It seems like a lot and would take forever, but really we can have it all done in the span of a normal call which is about an hour.

This was like watching an abbreviated episode of "How it's made" thanks for the look behind the curtain.

Interesting!! I was actually just reading the Data thread that got linked somewhere and when you use data like you’re saying I can see how it narrows down the pool really really quickly. Thanks for the insight!

It helps that I'm an analyst by day so I'm pretty good in excel.  Otherwise it would take a lot longer.  haha

We do our best to ensure that people get picked fairly and also the OEM is getting quality reviewers for their products.  We don't approach them asking for equipment as a giveaway, we spell it out to them how our reviews work, and why they're better for them.  Based on the reactions we get I think they agree and see the value in our process and getting folks who will reliably review the equipment for them!

I've been spending the evening advising a friend on a Golf Ho purchase. He texted me and told me he was eyeing a set of used TM P790's. Of course I did encourage him to hit them since they were different than his current irons (Tommy Armour Atomics). We discussed the pros and cons of the different iron sets. He ended up buying them at a good deal. Now I just can't wait to see him hit them.

I'm going to encourage him to either let his wife use the TA's or give them to his brother. Gotta share the love.

The P790's are impressing me, to say the least.  They remind me somewhat of years back when I gamed the Taylormade R9 irons. Same head size and performance and they were a huge hit for TM.
