My current car is a '16 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. I bought it used in 2017 and 60k of the 100k powertrain warranty was transferable, so I have that going for me. So far it has been bullet-proof. <knocking on wood>

... No need to knock on wood as these cars really are bullet proof in our experience. Obviously some might slip between the cracks but we bought a Sonata in 2008 and after 3 years of just service and oil changes without so much as a knob cracking, we bought a Genesis Coupe in 2011 and the Mrs is still driving it. I bought a Genesis sedan in 2012 and again, maintenance free other than service and oil changes. In 2017 I gave the Genesis sedan to my son (89k miles) and bought a 2018 Genesis G80 that I have driven back and forth to Orlando and Phoenix. Best car I have ever owned. Blows away my BMW 530i that cost a fortune to service. So 4 Hyundai/Genesis in our family since 2008 and not a single problem. I'd wish you luck but you won't need it.

Had a Lexus GS 350  a few years ago - now that was a fun car to drive. We might go back to Lexus after the SUV. I'm intrigued by the hybrid and since they share the platforms/parts with Toyota - I'm sure the parts are cheaper.

IMS issue? Sorry haven't had enough coffee yet.

Porsche has a problem with the IMS (intermediate shaft bearing) in the 2000-2005 996 911's. If the bearing fails, it can cause catastrophic engine failure.

That's a big ouch. I'll have to ask my tech what his experience has been. He's an exclusive Porche shop and does everything from routine stuff to race engine rebuilds. He's also a Concours judge - so a pretty good authority.

My neighbor had a Hyundai that he has had since they came out when ever that was. I guess that car was close to 20 years old. I know living here at the coast the body was about to fall off of it with rust. It finally gave up the ghost last summer and it had 250 k miles on it

And you know what is funny about that? We have 2 Toyota dealers here at the beach and they will not work on Lexus. Now one guy I know has his own shop and he will work on them and does real well. The only 2 Lexus dealerships around here are 75 miles away which ever way one wants to go. One in Charleston SC and one in Wilmington NC

Sounds like it had a Lucas electrical system - more common in British cars. Little know fact Joseph Lucas the namesake of Lucas Electrical was credited for inventing the 'short circuit' 😂

Triumph & Norton, brings me back to the 60’s & 70’s. There was a dealer in Middletown CT who sold & serviced both brands. They had the new models fenced off w chicken wire fence in the small showroom to keep peopled of them.

Stuck our heads out from under or shell today and went to a restaurant for lunch!!
It was awesome, great lunch, tables separated by a lot more than 6’. Wait Staff all masked and gloves up with sanitizer everywhere.
Felt human again. We took a cart ride thru town and it looked like ALL the restaurants were doing the same thing, no crowds or groups. It seems like that Town Square is doing the right thing.

Guess what, folks?! My $400 rangefinder was RETURNED to me today!!!!!!! It’s been a few weeks, and I had bought another rangefinder, thinking I’d never get it back. My buddy told me that the club had 108 golfers out there yesterday for a Shamble, and probably the person who turned it on hadn’t been there before then.

Very cool!

That’s an unexpected surprise, there are nice people in the world

Did they change gloves after touching something? If not (I'd strongly suspect they don't), then it's an absolute waste of time wearing gloves. I'd prefer no gloves and constant hand washing.

That's the consensus. The gloves are actually worse if you don't remove them immediately after touching.
