Yep!  You and I are about the same... and I have the back of a 75 year old because, well... I am 75!  I have the same obstacles, and even if I hit in dead center in the fairway, the course architect decided to put upslopes there right where my ball landed after a good drive!!  Killed any roll distance.  On our par 5 #5 hole there is only about 10-15 yards difference between the Blue and White (senior) tees, but clearing that slope gives me another 40 yards of roll.  Now I can hit a 3W for my second and an iron for my 3rd, instead of 3W, 3W and maybe still not get there if there is a headwind.  Moving up also allows me to hit a 5-6 iron on the par 3 #8 instead of a 3W or driver.  It's made a huge difference in my fun factor.  I don't play in any tournaments or scrambles anymore (unless my wife signs me up for a charity thing) because I would have to play from the Blue tees and my drives would never be used, even though my handicap from those tees is a 7.

Yep one of our holes #8 is exactly like that. From the gold tees now for me I can not get on top of the hill leaving me about 170 blind into the green depending on conditions either 3 wood or 7 wood at best. From the greens I am getting around 20 yards off the tee which gets me to the top and some roll. Usually depending on conditions leaves me somewhat between 140 to 130 into the green.

There is some crazy stuff going on these days all over the internet. Seems it has migrated from like FB and Tweeter to this and other sites. I am not IT material but guess it is some type of bug or virus. I have had several friends hacked on FB lately. One friend of mine buried his Mom about a month ago now and now me and others have been getting friend requests from her account. This was after he supposedly deleted it. I do not know these days and times I surely dont.

As I understand it, it has to do with the backend magic that makes these forums work and when one thing was adjusted after the week of glory from the MGS Forum Tour Championship was over for me, suddenly nothing is in any string I posted except for those quoted images like yours ☝️ the number of posts has not changed and neither has my reputation numbers.  All the content I created to include profile has no trace in any of the Forum categories and threads.

So, is it enough for me to get upset, worried or concerned?  Nah, disappointed maybe but this is about golf so it is all opportunity, somethings go amazingly well, some go in unexpected ways, others not so good.  Definitely par on my course!   As far as what I'm going to be posting next... FORE!!!!

I saw online (I don’t remember where 🤦🏻‍♂️) a chart published by the USGA that recommended tee positions (course yardages) to play based on handicap. But I can’t seem to find it. And the USGA website is horrible to search. Does this sound familiar to anyone and if so can someone share it? Thanks

Funny the folks one meets.  We've had a few window companies out for quotes and today the salesman was a former NHL player. Clearly not all professional (major league) players make the "big bucks" such that finding more traditional jobs are not a necessity. Really nice guy and looks like he could still play in the NHL.

I'm not a big hockey follower but know some on here are - perhaps remember him?

Years ago, and I mean many years ago we hired in a Sales Rep group who had a very retired Johnny Unitas.  He was the “door opener” for the Sales group.  Good guy but definitely beat up from his football years.

Funny the folks one meets.  We've had a few window companies out for quotes and today the salesman was a former NHL player.

Several years back I had the chance to meet Clark Gillies (NY Islanders) who def made $$ playing in the NHL .. but he was working as Rick put it, a "door opener", for a financial advisor firm that my work was doing business with .. he did it mainly to keep busy (busier) and the extra money he donated anyway; he helped build out a big children's wing at our local hospital! 👍

It was raining today and only 2 other vehicles were parked at the course when I headed to the 1st tee, and saw the two finishing on 9 when I was putting on 2.  After that had the course to myself, literally.

Played an awesome round today with the words of yesterday's friend echoing in my head.  Tim kept saying, "TEMPO, it's all about tempo" and said it often enough for me to use it as today's focus.  I was never a fan of the Ford Tempo so I have chosen to rename it as Timpo... primarily slowing the backswing - and proof he was right was not one hole carded above a single today.

But this random is not about that.  It is about what happened crossing Cazenovia Creek in the middle of the 9th fairway and how the second shot dipped below the level of the near and far banks somewhere between them.  With nobody following, once I holed out there was time to go look for that ball!  No sooner had I climbed down the bank to search than it was plainly obvious  the IGBRC, the International Golf Ball Rescue Commission was needed to render aid to so many lost, neglected, and abandoned golf balls.  Over the next 10 minutes, almost 3 dozen balls were rescued.  Tragically though, not one of them was the one I had hit nor was there a single one with my unique ball mark on it's jacket.

Okay, it's true, I made up the IGBRC.  It was while picking up golf balls from the grass outside my quarters at Fort Dix.  Across the street was the 3rd fairway of the Fort's Fountain Green Golf Course and fresh golf balls appeared daily in the lawn.  Many residents of Colonel's Row as it was known picked them up because if we didn't the tractor lawn mowers twice each week would chop them up and many maimed golf balls were adorning trees and signs as warriors are well known for their gallows humor.  Those were my wonder years as in I wonder why I didn't take the opportunity to start to play golf during the 5 years I lived there.  It was at my last assignment at Fort Leavenworth, as a course author for Army higher education, I attended a how-to-golf class by PGA Pro Brian Flax of the Fort's Trails West Golf Course that I finally started my golf obsession in earnest.

LOL we have too many members of the IGBRC around here as it is. One of our ex Shootout partners would rather hawk balls than play. LOL he plays different spots on Sundays and you never hear about his rounds just how many balls he finds. Lord knows what he does with the balls he finds because for a while he was on the new Vice ball kick. Now days since Cally Supersofts are on sale at Wally World he plays those. No joke he will loose 6 to 8 balls during a scramble round. Now he has lived down here less than a year and has not gotten the gist of things yet. He was complaining the other day about he could not sell used balls on FB here. I told him everyone especially guys that live on a course hawk balls. Some of the old guys who live on our course hawk balls every afternoon and have their unwritten "territories" I know of one guy that has like 5 or 6  5 gallon buckets full. LOL he was complaining the other day about having to go to Home Depot and getting another Homer Bucket and the price on the buckets had went up $1 or so. I do not hawk balls per say but in my early morning rounds I find quite a few just off the fairway. In fact I was looking yesterday and my old school shag bag is full. With the plethera of snowbirds down here early it is a ball hawkers paradise. Yesterday I was BS ing with Buzzy on the bag drop. He is retired and his son is one of the owners and he works the drop sometimes to have something to do. He gives his tips to his grandkids. Anyhow he grabbed a cart bag and went OOOF that is heavy. It was a cart bag and one could see it was stuffed full of balls and even had not one but 2 retrievers stuck in the top. He simply said "ball hawker" and we laughed.

I wish I could get out and walk like you do and play. I used to love my rainy day windy rounds playing with like 5 clubs or so course abandoned. Oh well at least I can ride and play some so I am grateful there

That I don’t recall but I wasn’t playing golf back then and probably wouldn’t care much.
We didn’t do a lot with that Sales Group they didn’t match up with our company very well.

I had to choose which response to use for this reply, Last part was 😍 and before it was definitely 💙 and 😆

I don't hawk the balls, more play them forward giving them another good round (or at least a few good hits until the jackets get frayed) or tossing one to a player who forgot to carry a second one in his pocket.  I only mark the ones I put into play so they are literally free for the taking.  In the Fort Dix days I collected them in those metal cans that Boy Scouts popcorn came in family was too eager to pass the whole thing along and they hold a few dozen.  Only half of one of those left as it's slowly refilling the spares bag that goes everywhere in the vehicle during golf season in case there is need for a tournament or something where links play tends to give them good places to hide.

I'm still hoping that one day in the not too distant future my travels will pass by the South Carolina maritime parts to have that round and after-golf chinwag we've mentioned before.  Time is not only an illusion but the real bandit in life.  More golf is the only answer.

We have a new neighbor that moved in a a while ago, still a kid just turned 60.  Since he’s recently retired in great shape looking for things to do, not working.  He’s been going out in the evenings “Ball Hawking”.  There’s 3 courses close by so plenty to pick from.  He’s been doing really well, 95 balls 2 evenings in a row.  Best part I have 1st pick and there’s a healthy selection of ProV1x!!!  Life is good!!!

BTW he gives them all away!

i haven't been posting much, been busy with work. gotta pay the bills to continue to be a top tier CHA member.

random thought of the day. i've come to the conclusion that 90 gram class steel shaft != 90 gram class graphite iron shaft. the 90 gram class graphite shafts generally feel quite a bit stiffer than equivalent weight steel shafts. not saying thats a good thing, a bad thing, etc., but there is a difference.
