I am upset with SwingU for sure. It did not combine my 9 hole scores as the app was intended to do. Dang, SwingU. Dang.

I must be going stir crazy. The weather is warming up and I can play golf but last week I accompanied SWMBO to Hobby Lobby. I came up with an idea while wandering the craft isles.

I am going to build a miniature golf hole or two, or three. HO (1/87) scale with golfers and everything. I was thinking one hole would be Augusta #12 with the Hogan Bridge and all. Azaleas on the hillside, Ray’s Creek in front, traps, and all the tall pines.

Am I nuts or what. But what a fun project this could be. This is the vision.

Tom, would you plan to do them as a flat, landscape piece where they would have the ability to sit flat out on a display?

I think it would it a cool idea, more than likely tedious, knowing the attention to detail you would put into them, but once done you may even be able to place some type of framing around them and have some really cool artistic pieces.

For me personally, that would be a "project" or something I would consider after retirement to pass time in the winter months, and keep the golf dreams alive.

Exactly. Just like a train set would sit out. I have an old entertainment center that holds all my golf trophies, photos and such. This would be built on a board that would fit into where the TV would normally go. It’s out in my simulator area. I think it would be perfect in there. I’ll start with the one hole and if it turns out well I’ll just add more holes, cart paths and such until the area is full.

 I would say that as long as you have both the time and patience to do this, it would be well worthwhile and your own created artwork!

To me is is a fantastic idea and should be encouraged!  Opportunity for not just a build but a way to capture and share it would extend the project taking so many of us with you on the odyssey of golf mania of a kind I would be more than happy to live vicariously   I am certain that Robert @rkj427 and others would be unanimous with our full support to your project as obsessed golf dreamers who enjoy golf for more than just playing the game.

You can click on the combined score and it will show them separately.  Play enough 9 hole rounds and you will see that as a regular feature since the last update in 2023.  It will also recombine the 9 holes as more 9 hole rounds are added to the memory.

Can't bear to show the photos of a vandalized golf course, but I will tell you resizing can be done as you prepare your post by clicking on the photo and adjusting it's size there in pixels - usually 600 is a good number to still show a good size photo or smaller if that is preferred.

Yeah that was a part of it too... This is my local course and the staff is so friendly. It was not an easy sight to behold.

But that's awesome, I will make sure to resize everything that way in the future,  don't want the spacing going haywire on the coding for the desktop users.

So I actually received an email correspondence from SwingU. The courses were not up to par with regulations to create a handicap. I.E. the courses are too small. And I do not believe I am ready to handle more than a par 4 holes. So i will just have to practice patience and get better. But at least now I understand it.

Having a handicap is more interesting than necessary in most cases.  Unless you are playing tournament golf you generally don’t need a handicap.   I would say that at co it use to enjoy the game and work on improving.  You can track you scores and aspects of your game and evaluate performance/improvement instead of by handicap.

That is the plan, I really just wanted a number so that when posting tee times there is a number associated with the skill-level I am at, but realistically someone is always going to be better. I will keep playing and practicing until I get there.

Update on the snowpack from last week's Lake Effect snowfall of about 80" here in West Seneca NY.

Gwynedd (Welsh form of Gwenneth) is just about where she was in this photo,

and now she can survey her dominion while her brother Gelert as always is ready as backup if he is needed, preferring to hang close to the kitchen door because there might be food that needs to be managed.  This was taken two days ago with the two of them before the melt began yesterday.

Snow levels are going down, about a foot and a half left on the ground with this warm up, take that 80" of Lake Effect snow!   Knocked as much ice off the top of the gutters today on my neighbor's house facing my house to relieve the weight threatening to pull their gutter off his house.  Couldn't get it all without damaging the gutter but good enough with temps still above freezing.

The sailboat is along that fence and this side is visible in the photos with the black tarped boat.

All I can picture is an ice luge coming out of the gutter like in Christmas Vacation.

Our black & white cardigan (Shmoopi) passed a few years ago and we miss having her around.  She was very mature, which made her all the more hilarious.

I am beyond frustrated with the local optometrist. I had an exam on the 20th so that I could get contacts to wear occasionally. Told me they would get a few brands for me to try out to see which ones feel best (it's been about 10 heads since I last wore contacts). 10 days later I called to see if they were in. The response went a little something like this, "Ummm. Let me check with the location in the next town over and see if they have your prescription in stock. It would probably be faster to get them shipped from that store instead of waiting on the warehouse." I don't know of any other way to interpret that other than that they never bothered to order in the first place and now had to scramble to fix the mistake. Problem #1. 

My daughter had her appointment at the same place last Friday. She wasn't seen until more than an hour after her appointment to start. Then once her appointment was done, the optometrist never actually finalized her prescription in the system before leaving for the day so they couldn't place the order for my daughter's glasses. Told me they would call the next day once it was in the system to make the payment and start working on her glasses. Needless to say, they did not call, so when I called on Tuesday, which would have been a few days after to check on things, they lost her order. Now they want me to bring her back in to redo the measurements so that the order can be placed. 

I was so done with them, I just asked them to email our prescriptions to me and I would go elsewhere for both of us because I don't want to support a business that can't manage simple tasks or keep their word. Sadly, even that is too difficult because they couldn't even manage to send that email yesterday. I'm giving them one last day before I have to physically walk into the store and make a scene over this nonsense. Waste of my time.

Sounds like the height of incompetence. BTW - the best deal I ever got on glasses was at Costco - you might want to check out their price for both glasses and contacts. My (progressive) glasses were a third what the local optometrist wanted to charge me.

I saw this earlier today and we lost a true icon of cinema. 

What's crazy is, I got a notification from Spotify of a new episode of Chasing Scratch today titled "Carl Weathers" and listened to their interview with him on the way home. He has been a running topic on the show for years after Mike and Eli had a round in Vegas and thought they saw him at the course there. They have been trying to get him on the show for years and finally released the episode today before the news broke of his passing. It's a really good episode and what could be his last interview before passing. 

I got home and saw he was trending on Twitter and thought it was because he was on the show and that's when I found out. 

Rest in Peace Chubbs.

Same here, I got my last 3 prescription glasses at Costco.  Two weeks ago had my exam by my optometrist.  As part of the process they had me pick out the glasses I was interested in.  One regular and one sun glasses, both progressives.  The 2 pair would have been $1700+.  Walked out with the script then on Friday went to Costco.They send to CA to be made.  Got a notification on Tues my sunglasses were ready for pickup, and Friday my regular glasses.  Picked both up on Sat, cost was $435.

I was just scrolling on Twitter and they have taken the episode down for now or of respect for Carl's family. I don't know when they'll put it back up, but I'm glad I got to listen to it as I found it to be both funny and inspiring.

BTW, I also ditched my Optometrist for a Ophthalmologist. The former was more interested in selling me overpriced glasses, the latter was more interested in my eye health.
