PMookie
A decent Greenskeeper should be able to get the course back into decent shape once Spring comes around. I would walk our course in CT in early March and think that I would be playing in a mud hole forever. But the Greenskeeper did his magic and had the place decent quickly. A good Greenskeeper is priceless! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy And therein lies the rub. Our city has never paid for a greenskeeper until this past fall, and the guy they hired was fired from the local CC because he killed all of their greens!!! Kenny B
My wife and I usually get tee times around 10am on the weekends at our club. I stopped in this morning and tried to get our usual time. Nope!! High school kids followed by college kids. I could have 7:46am or 2:10pm. Grabbed the 7:46am time, because we wouldn't finish before dark with the later time. It's supposed to be 35* around that time of the morning. Sunny and 60* later in the day. tony@CIC
For us short legged guys (talking about a 28-29 inseam) why do the stores and even online only carry only longer pants. I'm not interested in having an additional 4" of pant hanging around my ankles. Thankfully we have a gal locally that charges a reasonable fee for hemming them - but it's still irritating. Ours put one in place 2 years ago with a monthly calendar. Still doesn't eliminate the problem of events like that at the club but at least you get a heads up and can plan other activities. Our course is used for some H.S. and small college events later in the year and coaches are bringing their kids early see the course. The high school is located in Spokane and they still had snow on the ground last week. Yes, our club does have an online booking system, but previous experience is that tee times get double booked with those made in the pro shop. I'm there every day, so I just make them when get range balls. Tee times can only be booked a week in advance, but I usually don't have a problem booking on Wed for the weekend. Guess I need to check earlier now. tony@CIC and Rickp 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

The city contracts with a management company (they also manage another local course in a nearby city). The holes are moved every other day, fertilizer is put on the fairways and greens along with herbicide/pesticide?? something blue-green anyway. The greens are verticut twice a year. Mowing is scheduled and the course is nicely maintained. For being a muni, I can't complain... but I do offer suggestions every once in awhile!
