sixcat
Ticks. Found one on me this morning .. got a same-day app't to see the doc this afternoon .. with my little creepy crawler friend, too, so they can check it out. May have picked it up yesterday when I was playing 9; had two bad shots (in particular, out of many bad shots) with the ball on the edge of the first rough and up against taller fescue, so I was leaning against that for those two 'rescue' shots .. .. and that is a typical spot for ticks to be hanging out waiting for something to brush against them. Maybe it was on my pants or socks and dropped off when I took those off, and then the little bugger found me a second time, I guess..... I contracted Lyme Disease in 2012. Easily the worst experience of my life. If I could offer advice to anyone, shower immediately after every round of golf, yard work, hiking or any other outdoor activity where ticks are common. I am still learning to deal with the lifelong residual effects. It sucks! cksurfdude, MDGolfHacker and silver & black
cksurfdude
Wow, touched a bit of a nerve mentioning ticks! Almost as bad as talking about the "[email protected]", ooops, i mean the "Alans".... ;-) So thanks! to.. @mdgolfhacker @strokerace @shankster @sixcat ..for the concern - went to the doc who said "most likely" (always have to hedge your bets) as it turns out I got lucky, I saw the thing and got it out before it had a chance to infect me ...... TheWahoo
Yesterday, I played in a outing with one of my senior groups. Living in Annapolis, I typically take Route 50 to get home. Unfortunately, there was a serious accident on Route 50 which was closed at one point to let the Shock Trauma copter land. What is normally at the most a 15 to 20 minute ride to get home took me 3 hours yesterday. While I understand that accidents happen and impacts traffic, it was the manner in which many people reacted or handled the back up. It was amazing how many would leave the traffic lane onto a turning lane to get several cars ahead and then force themselves back into the traffic lane. Such tactics did nothing but slow everyone else down.

It appears that the young woman somehow was traveling west in the east bound lanes and hit someone head on. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how see got into the east bound lanes. There is a road called the Frontage road that is basically a service road for some gas and convenience stores and it is only accessible directly from the east bound lanes. If she left one of those stores and turn left she would enter the east bound lanes. But that exit to the service road was not where the accident occurred. Smalls1588
Went out early this morning on one of my favorite courses, The Fortress in Frankenmuth, MI. It was about 35 degrees, misting the entire day, and extremely windy. Grinded a 37 with 8 pars on the front (3 putt bogey). Then go out on the back and shoot 43! The worst part is, even in that bad of conditions, all my strokes I gave back were mishaps around or on the greens. I had 0 penalties, but 3 putts killed me. Gotta keep grindin! cksurfdude
My rant for today is the credit rating bureaus. (Yeah, I'm sure everyone hates them.) But how stoopit is their process? I've always had a good credit score, so that's not my complaint. Recently I bought a new car and the dealer let me pay a big part on my card (one to make the transaction - by phone and email - easier, and two so I could get a bunch of rewards points!). The rest I took from savings so the car was paid off on delivery. I get an alert that the sudden .. large .. increase in credit usage may negatively impact my credit score. OK, so it is what it is. As it turns out - my credit score went UP! Huh??? So the next thing is that I pay off my credit card bill every month, and I did with this larger bill, too. Guess what happens next? Yep - my credit score DROPPED .. a LOT (35 points). HUH???!!!??? So, the implied lessons here are contrary to what I consider prudent ... For example: using a lot of credit and not paying it all off is good; carrying multiple debts from multiple sources is good; etc. I own my car - no payments; I own my home - no mortgage; primarily use one credit card - pay it off every month; have a positive bank balance; have a large, liquid investment portfolio (that I don't margin); etc etc. And I get dinged for using credit and then paying it off .. quickly??? Kenny B
Well today starts the Boy's 3A State Championships at my course, so no golf until Thursday. I thought about going to our sister course across town; nope, Boy's 1A. Maybe another nice course in town... nope Girl's 3A. OK, a decent course in town... nope Boy's 1B, 2B and Girl's 1B, 2B, 1A. Yesterday was the practice round, so I thought I would head over to the old course where I learn to play golf 25 years ago. However, it's still early spring and it's in a flood plain. I thought about walking, but they had a Monday Seniors special for $24 with a cart; it would have been $18 to walk. Glad I got the cart because I had to drive through mud on some holes. I'm looking down the 1st fairway and it looks OK off the tee. There is a ditch that runs across the fairway about 100 yards out. I clear that easily (years past, I have been known not to ), but I don't see it rolling in the fairway. I drive over the ditch and there is a big mud patch where standing water was just a few days ago. My brand new ball is in the middle of it, along with a few others. Fortunately, I am wearing an older pair of shoes; I'm not leaving a new ball out in the mud!! Slick!!! But didn't fall down. This course has very small greens and they are usually very fast. Nope, rolling about 6 on the stimp I'm guessing. Some tees had not been mowed for quite awhile. The top of my tee was even with the top of the grass! How about this??? Middle of the #13 fairway!!!! At least it was a nice day, and the cart had no governor. Played 18 in 2 hours with multiple shots around the greens for practice. cksurfdude and MDGolfHacker 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

cksurfdude
((.. some other stuff ..,)) ..I drive over the ditch and there is a big mud patch where standing water was just a few days ago. IMG_0714.jpg The top of my tee was even with the top of the grass! How about this??? IMG_0712.jpg Middle of the #13 fairway!!!! At least it was a nice day, and the cart had no governor.
