Mate, no manufacturing. Electric company, one of the largest in the country. I looked after the security for the line shops in Ohio and Western PA, by myself.

 

Matt in '09 I think every one was laying off. And my 401k was disappearing faster then.......well you know.

Yeah, it was tough. Took me 2 years to find another job at half what I was making.

 

AT&T. I was a manager in Uverse/DirecTV. That group has been bleeding money so they laid off about 10000 a year ago and rumor has it, more coming next year.

I stayed on top of it this year and as of last Sunday, the yard was spotless and almost all trees had no leaves. Front came through Monday and brought high winds and blew the crap from the street back into my yard. I came home from work Monday to see a mini tornado of leaves swirling around my front yard.

 

Mother nature wins this round, I'm done until spring.

That was actually the plan after we moved in, but then decided the roof wasn't gonna last all that much longer so kinda put off re-doing the gutters until then..... Which is getting closer.

First things I did when I moved in was to replace the entire roof of the house. Not a worry in the world about it after that . Of course a leak developed from the gas fireplace housing on the side of the house which ruined newly put in hardwood floors the following summer🤦‍♂️... Can't win...

It's a two way street though... I have a lot more trees that that the wind ends up blowing leaves onto his property😁 then his does on mine.

Yeah.. Well my airbags didn't deployed so I'm grateful for that. The occupants in the other car initially didn't say they were hurt (there was a language barrier) but then requested an ambulance for one of the kids that said their head started hurting. It was their fault for turning in an intersection while I had a green light right of way. They were issued a citation and 3 warnings. I'm wondering if they will end up totalling my Lexus (which would suck since it's been paid off for years)...

It's a pain in the ass, but some times people go to the hospital to act like it's worse than it is. Glad you're okay, cars can be replaced your life is a lot harder to replace.

Sorry to hear about your accident.  Having had my daughter on the other side of that equation a few weeks ago just be glad everyone is okay.  While it is a pain to have to get a car repaired or replaced it could have been far worse for everyone.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Having had my daughter on the other side of that equation a few weeks ago just be glad everyone is okay. While it is a pain to have to get a car repaired or replaced it could have been far worse for everyone.

This was my main concern as well. All joking aside. I checked on the other vehicle's occupants several times to make sure they weren't trapped or needed further assistance. I had an off duty County police dispatcher right behind me who witnessed the entire incident and notes the other vehicle failed to yield making the turn. A bit sore today but as everyone said, it could of been worse...

Hacker, really sorry to hear of your accident, but genuinely happy that you were not physically hurt.   It is my understanding, I'm not certain, that determining a vehicle is totaled is an economic factor.   That is, if it costs more to fix it than to replace it, it will be considered totaled.  Under any circumstance, having been in a accident, make sure that you are compensated for the lost value of the vehicle.
