It's a shame that your managers are handling it this way - they should be aware of how it reflects on them rather than on the person leaving.

It's a shame that your managers are handling it this way - they should be aware of how it reflects on them rather than on the person leaving.

The person leaving has worked under my supervision since he joined the firm so I feel compelled and even a bit obligated to defend him to our superiors.  As Tom Hanks says in Saving Private Ryan, "complaints go up the chain of command, never down".

It shouldn't be taken personally that he is leaving.  Especially considering he is moving overseas while he is still a young man.  He gave us nearly 2 months notice which is more than acceptable.  He even reimbursed the company the expense of his licensing fees.

Like I said, petty and disappointing.

Wow by this time the snow should have been gone and the ice melt started in your area

Major props to you for standing up for your employee, even though he is leaving, you recognize his talent and ability and the contribution he made.  It's a shame your employer didn't.

Hopefully he is aware of and appreciates your support in return.

Yup. It's gonna be a painful couple of months yet.

I'm looking forward to posting in the "First Round of the Year" thread sometime in July.

Since Mother Nature gave us an atypically cold winter to endure, maybe she will continue the trend and give us a pleasant summer to enjoy.  That is, there will not be an extended period of extremely hot days.   But, I am not optimistic, why am I not optimistic?

For those of you that have young children or grandchildren, if and when they complain about cold weather, you can say---this is nothing, back in my day, during the winter of 2018 .........................

I promise there is a golf course under all that white stuff.

In the same boat as shankster. Suppose to see 30 + inches over the weekend.

I played golf on April 10th last year. UP here.

Apparently the idea of everyone driving Priuses has worked.  Time to go back to driving Tahoe's and putting big v-8's in all the cars again.

Mother Nature may have given you an atypical cold winter, but our atypical winter was last year.  We always play golf all year long here.  Sometimes it's cold, but it doesn't last too long.  We might get a little snow but it usually melts in a couple of days.  LAST YEAR, we got snow from Jan1- Mar 1 and it never got above freezing.  We had more snow on the ground last winter than the previous 25 winters combined.

I feel for you folks back east, but I'm happy that we are back to normal.  Now, if the wind would just quit blowing...

That's good to know, maybe you're just a year ahead of us.   How was your summer last year.  Next year, let us know how you are doing, it could help us prepare.

Summer last year was normal for us.  90's to low 100's from June to Sept.  We only had one week at 105+.

It has been a fairly wet year so far.  We have had over 3 inches of rain since Jan 1.  That's about 1/2 of our annual rainfall for the year.

I will trade you?  Much easier to play in rain than the never ending snow in the Catskills.

Why must everyone make such a big deal about Tiger playing the US Open? I had no doubts. Why is it so “shocking”

Maybe its not so much a big deal about Tiger playing, but rather the concern that the way things are going nature wise, its feared that Shinnecock Hills my still be snow covered in the middle of June not allowing Tiger to play.

Seriously Shinnecock is one awesome course. If anyone has a chance to go please do.

Here's my rant for the day. I have two golf buddies who I've been playing regularly with for 3 years. This year due to stuff happening in their kids' hockey team one guy no longer wants to play golf with the other. One guy has no idea why the other has not come out lately and I have been playing alternate days with each of them and lying to the guy who has no clue.

It's getting tiring answering/avoiding questions and I'm tired of having to cover the other guys ass cause he won't deal with his problem directly.

Not so bad though still playing twice a week so I'm not really crying too hard.

Living near there that may just be a possibility. However the bigger concern is the PGA Championship at Bethpage next year in May. I don't even think the Black is playable right now.

I agree 10000%!!! By moving the PGA to May it eliminates places like Whistling Straights. Still don't get why they did that. Anything north of I-10 is pretty much out now.

On a positive note, playing the PGA in May opens up a ton of excellent course options in the south. Bethpage in May might not be ideal but Seminole in May would be phenomenal.

Watching both tournaments. Rahmbo just hit one in the drink, then shushed a fan, then proceeded to pout down the fairway. I wouldn't want to be in a golf club length distance to him I don't think.

At least a club toss length
