Got Problems?

Not really a problem but more of a frustration with myself.  My family had convinced me that this would be the year to give the US Open qualifying another go.  As much as I tried to get ready to play I decided last night that I am just not there or in any form to even tee it up.  Some of the lack of preparation is work related and some is just me not doing what I should have done coupled with a lot of self doubt. I have played exactly one round at my club and three rounds at Pinehurst this year and don't see myself playing enough in the next few weeks that would change my mind.  Frustrated that I feel like I let my kids down a bit as they just wanted to see me play some sport at a high level, all they have ever seen is some old video and press clippings from when I was an athlete at one point in my life.

you can clearly play. Would it not be worth even trying and if you fail you fail, or will you regret not trying? What's the worst that can happen? You would have ALL us spies (as well as your kids) rooting for you no matter how you play.

True and let’s be real, the odds of me qualifying are slim to none. I just don’t even think where my game is right now I could break 80 under those conditions. I am going to sleep in it tonight and make a final decision tomorrow. Worst case is I play the mid am this summer when I am actually playing a little bit. Heck I am even going to go and practice indoors tonight. Was supposed to be outdoors but well it is apparently monsoon season in the Catskills this week.

Been all afternoon taking the front end completely off my Club Car. It started being hard to control going downhill the last couple of rounds. Found out today all the plastic bushings are completely gone. Good news a rebuild kit is only $30 on eBay, bad news is it won’t be here until Friday. I have league Thursday evening and now I’m going to have to rent a cart. It’s always something!!

Father-in-law passed away Easter morning. 90yrs old, always in pretty good health but passed suddenly.

Pulling all the pictures together for his service, I was struck by the life he had. A handicapped guy from far southwestern Oklahoma, he traveled the world. Always checking on far flung relatives across the country and friends, he was well loved by many.

He and I were not exactly buddies but he introduced me to this game we all love. And I’m grateful for that, and for his daughter

So go out and live your life despite any handicap you *might* think you have. Love often and love well.

  • 3 weeks later...

Getting ready to go to airport yesterday morning for our week in Maui, and I suddenly felt the urge to poo. So I do and out comes a bunch of blood.

so then I’m in the hospital all day only to find out I’ve got diverticulosis. So got released and now chasing doctors to fill out the paperwork for trip insurance that fortunately the wife got.

feel fine today... just depressed about it all

With some diet changes you can regulate it pretty well. You'll never control it 100% but something is better than nothing.

Went from Kidney stones to a Crohn’s flare-up. Have to have another scope again this Friday. That’s three in a year.........
2018 and 2019 have not been good to me health-wise. Frustrating because I’m ready to start feeling normal again. Crohn’s/IBS is causing me to miss work, miss family events, etc. It’s horrible.
I’ve hit my out-of-pocket max by mid-May the last 2 years. Sucks as I’m only 50!

Was on Humira, but switched to Stelara (every 2 mos). It seems to be wearing off at the 1/2 way point just like Humira was. They’ll hopefully check my blood levels this Friday to see.

Yeah it took about 6 months for the Humira to really put me into remission - seemed to be wearing off right before the next injection but over time that window shrunk to the point where it seems to be gone.

Got home from Orthopedic Doc appt and House was 85’ and A/C running.
Hottest day of the year, great timing. Outside compressor not running. Tried restart system, nothing.
We’re sitting on the Lanai waiting for the service guy. Sure am glad we put a mini-split 1.5 ton unit out there 2 years ago.

Let me know what the problem was with the AC. My guess is the start capacitor.

Technically HVAC is part of my job, never get to do it though. Not much need for AC up in the tundra.

Played a new Exec this morning no shoulder problems, really nice track.
Slight problem blew the clutch in my cart. I have a loaner which is OK but I may not get my cart back until Tuesday or Wednesday. Kind of a love hate with the Monday Holiday.
I’m spoiled, want my own cart!

We had a squall blow through here a couple of days ago - 60+ mph winds. Only lasted about 10-15 minutes but enough to blow some very large limbs off of a big maple in our yard. Spent the past day with a chainsaw cutting up the debris - then went for our Friday night 9 hole  couples mixer last night - By the 7th hole my back hurt so bad I could only putt and could hardly get in and out of the cart 😡. The couple of rum and cokes at dinner helped more then the aspirin. 😁
