We had what I suspect was a tornado come through at 6pm on Sunday night. We lost power and it was finally restored at midday yesterday although the internet is still down. Fortunately the battery backup sump pump worked great and was still going strong when the power came back on.

But, the worst part was we lost another tree. A big willow that gave a bit of privacy to our pool. Another fortunately, when it went, it went in the opposite direction of the pool and the fence I replaced from the last tree coming down. I've called the tree company because I started cutting it yesterday and realised that it's just too big for me.

Yikes!!  Glad you are all safe.  I know some people up around Clyde, OH and they lost a barn one year.

We don't get tornados here, but we do get some high winds occasionally.  I've seen 80mph and lots of tree damage.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Thanks guys. I had the tree company that took out the two 30'+ pear trees in December over to quote and I don't think the guy even looked at it. He wrote climber on the quote...there's nothing to climb. Plus, flush cut the stump...it's sitting 90° in the air from where it would normally be. They wanted the same amount to clear the tree on the ground as what they charged for dropping the other two. I'll be calling them this morning.

I had another young guy come out and he's got the job. He does this as side work as he works as a tree guy for a large company. $300 for the job. He may or may not be able to get the roots out of there, it all depends on if I can get all the dirt off it, so I'll be using my pressure washer to blast it clean.

Good deal!  They probably would have charged you 3-4 times that amount if it was still in the ground.

Sad to see such a beautiful tree like that come down; my favorite tree, the willow.  Looking on the bright side now you'll have more room for backyard golf!  🙂

Thanks for the link, I appreciate it!

On the good side - my co-worker gave me his arm band to use for a bit of the day yesterday and it made a big difference. So I bought one at CVS (and got a mile long receipt!) and wore it last night while I had to cut a number of PVC pipes and use a drill for a few hours. This morning I'm still a bit sore but it's nowhere close to what it was yesterday. I'm hopeful that a few days of the band plus ibuprofin will help. Not touching the clubs for at least a week.

Haven't touched a club in a week and I'm thinking it's going to be even longer 😞 Went without the arm band yesterday and I'm feeling it this morning. Supposed to be perfect weather for golf this weekend too.

Well, the pressure washer idea didn't work too well. All I succeeded in doing was get a face full of dirt/mud. So, the stump will have to stay and get ground out.

Strong storms blew through last night. Been without power for the last 14 hours, battery operated sumps in the basement failed and now I am running newly installed pumps off of generator power. Starting to really hate living in Long Island.

Hope everything worked out for you.  We are pretty luck where I'm at as it's on the same power grid as a local hospital so there's apparently more redundancy in the grid (or so I'm told).  Now why don't they just do that to the ENTIRE grid ? 🤷‍♂️

Usually happens when it rains since the vapers and smokers have no where else to go except close to the brick wall to get under the 1' awning, LOL.

When we left CT years ago I left my very used generator with one of my daughters and son-in-laws. They used it this week.

I hear ya! Last I played was July 12th, and it looks like a few more weeks for me. I am cleared to chip and putt, but have not had the opportunity. Plus, the doctor says no driver this year. So much for fun!

It takes time to recover correctly. Doctors know what their talking about. I’m still only hitting 6i or 5i off most Par 4.

On my way to do my final walk through I got pulled over for speeding. The trooper afterwards said if I told him I was a firefighter before he gave me the ticket that would have changed things.

I hope this isn't a sign of my future as a home owner with this place.

Not too bad. I never really drove that way to my house so I didn't know the speed limit change and now I know. I'd rather now than in a few months. Plus this will be my direction of travel to and from work so it's helpful to know where not to be an idiot.

Need to get an  I'm a fireman sticker on your car 😉. Side note, when I was heading to a course near my house to give the Cleveland RTX 4 wedges a work out, I passed a guy in a nice Lexus RC that was pulled over; I'm guessing for speeding.  I pulled into the course and sat there for a minute taking a call and who should be flying into the spot next to me..yep the guy pulled over for the ticket...I guess the I'm late for a tee time excuse didn't work for him this go around 😁😂😅

One of my daughters is a Probation Officer. Many years ago she was in a city that was unfamiliar to her and took a wrong turn and a cop spotted her and appropriately pulled her over. She showed him her license which she kept in a leather wallet along with her badge and paper work. Cop obviously saw the badge checked everything out and let her go after he questioned her a little bit explaining that she was in that city for a court date for one of her people.
The badge next to her license was just by chance but was a good move.

Fortunately he didn't eat near me I might not have been able to bite my tongue.

And I guarantee he's the door rusher on the plane.
