We’ll 1 of the pups we came hike to favoring his right hind leg yesterday. Not the first time but he was Definitely a little distressed, woke up this morning and it’s pretty swollen and he wouldn’t get up to go out (had to carry him) really hoping he didn’t tear an ACL heading to the vet in a bit…….wish me luck

Hope so as well. My dog torn hers and we had to go through the surgery for her, and now it looks like she might have torn her meniscus. Being on the bigger side, still only 45 lbs., for this injury it sounded like recovery was never going to be 100% for her. Hope you get better news.

So ended up being lime? Couldnt believe it, doctor was surprised too. Had a fever and where his leg is swollen its not the ACL its below the knee which is "our heel" didnt realize that.

Regardless antibiotics and some pain meds good to go in a few weeks, thank God, was seriously worried having to put him through a surgery.

Happy to hear he’s going to be OK👍

So this isn't the end of the world...My guy had Lyme in his first year, tests negative for it ever since and is a perfectly healthy 9.5 year old.  A couple lipomas as you'd expect but this is the "goodest" bad diagnosis you could have received.

I forget the brand but we aren’t super consistent with applying. We are pretty good about verifying ticks when we get back inside from being out though, he had 1 a few months back but wasn’t even in which is odd

we get our property sprayed every 8 weeks and neither us nor the dogs have had a single tick since we moved here.

just as a precaution, i got both dogs vaccinated for lyme.

Not really a problem, but this is a good place to put this, I guess.

I just put my other "original" dog down this evening. I put my other buddy down in November. I had this one for 14.5 years. He was very tired and it was time. It feels so strange not to have him here.

I adopted Moose (American Bulldog) a few days after putting the first one down. This is the first time I've ever had just one dog.

My other two got me through a bad divorce and some other not so cool situations over the last 7.5 years. It's amazing how attached you become... and how much you love them.

Moose and I will journey on together, and see what the future holds!

... So sorry for your loss. It truly is amazing how attached you become. We had a rescue mutt and decided to hedge our loss and picked up another rescue mutt when she was 7. We figured when we lost Casey, Buddy would be around to console us and we him for at least another 7 years. After it was Casey's time to lay to rest, Buddy had developed a brain tumor and we layed him to rest only 2 months later. It was a devastating time for all of us so I understand your pain and loss. My son rescued Giz, a Pit Mix that turned out to be a pure bred Stafford Terrier a year later and although we still miss Casey and Buddy, Giz has become a wonderful addition to the family. I hope you and Moose have many happy years together.

Thank you for sharing that. Animals are great.... sometimes better than people... well, most times...lol.

I miss my two boys a great deal, but I have Moose. He's an awesome dog. We will have many good years together, God willing.

i don’t think it’s 100% effective, no. the tick spray every other month has been awesome though. ive been through the woods all around my yard with my boxer and neither of us have had a tick on us. worth looking into.

Sorry S&B...just sad, there aren't many easy ways to say sorry.

Keep an eye on Moose...maybe you guys can help pick each other up, there's no feeling as sad as losing a pup.

So sorry to hear about all the dogs that everyone has lost. I think our Husky is approaching that time as well. He had a stroke a few months ago and hasn't been the same since. My wife and I rescued him back in 2009 before we were married. He is basically our first kid, so it hurts for that time to come.

I forget the brand but we aren’t super consistent with applying. We are pretty good about verifying ticks when we get back inside from being out though, he had 1 a few months back but wasn’t even in which is odd

If you aren’t good at remembering get the Soresto collar it works well and lasts 8 months. I switched because my one dog would get a slight reaction to it, but that isn’t normal.

Yea we get them vaccinated but sounds like it doesn’t automatically protect?

It’s like every vaccine it’s never 100%

My game was finally starting to show some promise after 3 years of injuries.  Carpal tunnel surgery and cracked thumb 2018/2019,  shoulder injury late in 2019,  and wrist injury late 2020 and in to 2021.  Handicap went from 6ish up to over 10 and just fell back to single digits on the last update when a buddy wanted to go over and ride our quads in the sand.  "Sure, sounds fun".

Fifteen minutes in to a 2 day trip, I missed a drop off in the early morning sun and did a nose dive jamming my right hand and handlebar in to my rib cage.  OUCH !!  *&^$!!!

Xrays showed no fractures but the doc believes there probably is a light fracture that isn't showing up.  If you never had a fractured or bruised rib cage, you are missing something special.  This is probably my 4th or 5th time over the years from riding or playing ball.  Not sure when I will be playing again.  My goal is August 13th as I just dropped some $$$ on a tourny, but I have my doubts from past rib damage.

I will consider myself lucky as I thought the outcome was going to be much worse when I was mid-air.

So after just making this drive 10 days ago, the wife and I are back on 1-80 for 15 hours heading back to Erie, PA.  Her step-brother has been battling cancer for a year and he’s lost the battle…in hospice care now and hours/days left.  Racing back to hopefully say goodbye before we can’t.

I'm sorry. I hope you make it in time.
