Got Problems?

Went to eat lunch with my brother in Dallas today.... Ugh. Told me he has cancer. Rough lunch. Surgery Friday. He's been sitting on this info for awhile and has only told me and one other sibling. Colon cancer. Man.... He and I and our Dad share similar issues, so looks like I need to go have another test done and keep on top of this stuff.

Well, qualifying for the club championship for me was going to be on Saturday.  Talked to our head pro today and told him I have a three hour drive from where I work to the club so I needed a later time in the qualifier.  I got 7:26 AM for my time and was told there is nothing they can do to change it.  So I will be a WD for the qualifier because I refuse to get up at 3:30 AM to play golf.  Maybe next year.

I took a 7, and 3 putted. That is all I can remember. I'd been racking my brain trying to figure it out.

That's a bad pro in my opinion. I'm sure another group could switch with you no problem. He just doesn't want the extra work on his plate.

Our local hospital had a scramble this past Monday. Don't know how many teams but they took virtually the whole day to complete the 18 holes. My rant is when I played that night it looked like a butcher took to the course. Tons of divots not replaced or filled with sand (which is on the carts) and unrepaired ball marks on every green. Why are people so disrespectful. 

Sadly that's the norm for most scramble outings.    But then again, I've witnessed first hand many of our members,  drive up on the aprons of greens, not rake bunkers or fix ball and blatantly disregard cart path only restrictions.    It's just becoming an all too common occurrence of entitled golfers.  

If I' own a golf course how much money does an outing really bring in

To close the course all day or at least until 3:00 or 4:00?  I don't  do it unless it brings in at least $8,000 to $10,000.   But a good outing if sold properly will bring in $18,000 to $20,000.    A top tier outing where they are going after big dollar corporate clientele, should bring in $30,000 to $50,000.

I'm not sure what I have had while carving up par-5's lately...Amnesia? No. I'd better qualify my performances on those as more of a "mental midget" state-of-mind thing

Went to the range yesterday between thunderstorms, hoping to get at least one bucket of balls hit and maybe putt a little. Got to the range the weather looked good, got set up hit a bit 5 balls and some big drops fell. Then the rain let loose. So I got to hit 8 balls and no putting. Oh well. I tried to wait it out by standing in the rain with an umbrella over top of the clubs, but it just wasn't stopping, and then it was raining harder, so after about 5 minutes of standing waiting, I left.

So went to an outing at a private club.. guy text me saying I want to win so I'm inviting you. I'm honored sounds good I knew we had a decent shot because I knew the strengths of the other 3. One guy in the foursome I have never met. Well we didn't use one balls of his all day. How do you expect to win with that!?!?!?!

Send out 60 something invitations 2 months ago for an Aussie BBQ, get 3 definite, 8 maybes and the rest no response.

 

2 turned up...had a great time but what's wrong with people not even responding.

Sounds like my kids birthday party 2 years ago. We send out invites and plenty respond they are coming so we go all out; jumpy house, party favors, piñata, sack race, ice cream cake, $500 worth of Filipino food (most of my wife's friends are Filipino, big families, large servings =$$$$$). Day of the party 4 different families flake and say they aren't coming. Mom is sick, kid has dance practice; well why did you rsvp you are coming if your kid has dance practice? Only one kid shows up and she didn't even rsvp.

 

Close to $1000 for a party that no one attended. Last party we threw. What a waste of money.

Not sure when this trend happened but people seem to want to do there own thing regardless of what or who they're invited to. If you don't rsvp to our party or worse yet rsvp yes and don't show up you're toast and will never be invited again.

Exactly. If you don't want to come, no problem. But don't tell us you are coming and then not show up.

 

It was kind of a birthday/housewarming party as we had just moved to our new house. After all the parties and events we attended for our “friends” to have them all come up with excuses the day of was just rude.

 

I should say my wife's friends, not mine. I only have two.

I mean, Ping is offering forged irons now and Miura, the samurai blade of forged irons, is making a cast, foam-filled head.

I hate humidity as well especially when it's 90 outside! However, in about 5 months I'll be wishing it was 90 and high humidity.
