I haven't seen that much smoke since I boxed club cards in the 60s.

 

Today fighters would be on a gurney with oxygen BEFORE they got to the ring.

 

But it's really not funny.

 

They've got to figure out something to prevent those horrible fires.

Well, it was supposed to be 100º today, but it's only 87º. So why is this a rant? It's sunny, not a cloud in the sky!! It's bright out, but there are almost NO shadows. Smoke from all the local fires, combined with the smoke coming up from California.

 

The Washington State Department of Ecology has issued an air quality alert until noon on Wednesday. Unhealthy to very unhealthy air will be common across central, south central, and southeastern Washington. Children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory illnesses are most at risk of serious health effects.

 

Here is a picture of the smoke in the region. I'm in the circled area.

Good luck with that Kenny. Stay inside as much as you can and don't hesitate to buy n95 masks from lowes or another hardware store. They keep out small particles and we use them to keep out even certain airborne viruses.

So I'm enduring a 4 day training/school that requires me to pass a test on the last day. That's not my rant, this is a requirement for my job, understandable. My rant is the other 49 people in this class are morons. The man teaching the class will go ever a specific area, and then ask if they're any questions, it blows my mind how they can't comprehend what he just said. And these people control the quality of water you and I receive!! Now I know how stuff like Flint happens. I want to stand up and scream “This is Water Distribution, not rocket science!!” Rant over. Feel better.

Two is the perfect number of kids.  As parents, you can play a man-to-man defense.  Once the children outnumber the parents, it's straight up zone. 

 

I hate playing a zone defense in any circumstance!

We had a major Fire both last year and this year in Portugal, the one from last year was so big with dead people and complete towns destroyed. My advice, don´t underestimate it and all the advice the authorities issue. Keep masks with you and as much water as you can stored.

I heard about the fire in Portugal.  My prayers go out to all those that lost loved ones.  

 

Most of the smoke here is from 100's of miles away, but we have had some local brush fires.  This past weekend we had on the edge of town; 6 houses destroyed, no one died, but they lost 2 horses.  Unfortunately, the fires here on the west coast happen nearly every year.  Tired of it.

Maybe a new thread - Lefty Rants. You've heard it before - cash in hand and walking into GG for Lefty stuff. This time I'm looking to buy a F8 3/4 wood based on MGS recommendation. No lefty Cobras in stock. None..nada! Guess I could buy it online - but I was hoping to try it against a couple of others. I already tried my lefty friends F7 on the driving range the other day. GG if you're reading - if I have to buy it online - that opens up a whole bunch of other retailers!

My cell phone died yesterday. Completely bricked. I use Google Play Music, Google Maps, Google Drive, etc, so have always bought android phones, but their hardware is crap. Every Android phone I've owned is dead in two years.

 

My iPad which I got as a Christmas gift from my old company is nearly 5 years old and just keeps going, so I just bought my first iPhone.

 

Goodbye Android.

I have always had an iPhone.  Actually, I am still using an iPhone 4S.  The only reason I haven't upgraded yet is that @cksurfdude sent me a Mophie battery extender.  Thanks again!!  However, it's time to get a new one soon.

 

I never do anything with Google.  It is such an invasive company.  They will crawl your hard drive.  My wife and I are all Mac-based. A year ago, she put a Dr. appt on her calendar in Microsoft Office.  On the day of her appt, she got a reminder from Google!!

I´ve been using Android from the start of them and i can say that all my phone lasted 2 years +-. After that the problem i have is with the apps. I also saw a news recently that proved manufacturers would slow their equipment performance with updates to make people change equipment.

A PGA tour hinge popped up on my Facebook page. That's normal. The caption though: the 3 best shots from Saturday at the PGA championship. #3. On a par three, Stone hits the flag on his tee shot and almost makes ace, #2. Wallace, makes ace on a par three. #1. Tiger Woods hits second shot onto a par 5. What? Seriously, the level of stupidity in Golf journalism is pathetic at best. This is why I don't watch the Golf Channel, and this is why I pretty much ignore any Golf talk from the networks. I get my golf talk from here usually. Tiger hit some good shots over the weekend, but I'm sorry hitting a ball on a green in 2 on a par 5 is not even close to the same level of an ACE in a major championship.

I pretty much gave up trying to find anything at the GG, I just buy the stuff I know I like from eBay or amazon, and screw the golf shops. They don't want my money, I'll give it someone who does.

We don't have a GG; we have a Golf Universe.      Should be bigger, right? Nope.  It's only a locally owned golf store run by a former Canadian tour player.  Nice people.  They have the major brands, but not a lot of stock.  They always have lefty clubs though; the owner is a lefty and a +3 index.

Lefties can be really weird. 

 

One of my son's youth teams had a left handed first baseman--nothing unusual there.  That's the only infield position that they can play.

 

But with the significant advantage to batting left handed--primarily the preponderance of right hand pitching--this kid batted RIGHT handed. Rickie Henderson was the only big time player that I can ever remember doing that.

 

The boy lived with a single mom. Perhaps an in home dad would have corrected that at, say, age 5.
