Got Problems?

I went to see my spine specialty doc today thinking I would get a shot to ease my discomfort.   Well it turned out to be another exam and consultation on the next procedures.  He gave me a scrip for nerve pain meds and I go back September 16 for a medial branch block which is a test to see if the actual radiofrequency abiation will be the next step. It takes forever to see a spine specialist and I was ready for a good ole shot of relief.  Now I'm back in the waiting game again.  :(

Sorry to hear it wasn't what you were expecting.  Hope the meds take the edge off until you appointments.

I was taking ibuprofen, tylenol, or aleve for pain and they are not much help for nerve pain.   I'm starting on gabapentin for the pinched nerve issues.

Shite....

Hate that, the medical waiting game is tough.

Just keep the great attitude going and work thru this.

"NO, NO, NO".  That was a quote from my wife.  She was put on it for her back pain, and it was bad.  Gabapentin is an anti-seizure drug, that apparently some idiot doctors think helps with pain.  If it does, it's because it messes with your mind.  I had to take her to the hospital when we tried together her off it.  Be careful!!  You might want to get a second opinion.

I am on a low does for a persistent pain in my side.  Generally stops the pain for me,  or at least it seems to stop the pain.  Would rather not be on it,  but the pain wasn't much fun either.

I told him that I did not want to go on opiods and he suggested giving this a try as many of his patients had success with it.   The good thing is it didn't cost me much at all and if the side affects are awful I will stop immediately.  Heck my dog is on the stuff and it's the only thing that stops her pinched nerve pain. When she has a spell of bad pain we put her back on it and she's like a puppy again jumping around.

If you can get a script for Lidoderm patches, they're awesome for nerve pain. Has lidocaine in the patch and it soaks through the skin to deaden pain.

I did bring my clubs, and I told him that on the two nights we don't have dinners, he'll be fending for himself as I'll be at a range, or course!

Our course is about 20 minutes from BWI Airport and maybe 15 minutes or so from the big hotel district near there.  I've put together a program and just need to market it better next year.

For guests staying in a hotel, if they bring a flyer/coupon we leave at the front desk, that is the following offer.  It's meant to target the business traveler who finishes meetings at 5:00 or so and has the evening free.

Free Rental clubs for twilight golf and 20% discount on the greens fee.

or another option, if they have their own clubs and just want to practice.

Large bucket of balls, and dinner in the grill for $25 or $35 dollars if they want to rent the clubs (Brand new Cleveland CBX Irons and Launcher drivers) and hit balls and have dinner.

Figure if they can expense a $25 or $35 dinner, they get some practice in as well.

For 2019 thinking of adding some sort of Dinner to that twilight golf package so they can do the same thing.

The issue is it used to be effective at leaving flyers/brochures at the hotel front desk, as many guests would go to the front desk asking where the nearest driving range or course is.   Now we all find that right on our phones.   So I'm sure there must be some SEO that our corporate office could do with geo tags or something from those hotels.   That will take somebody smarter than me to figure out.

edit: Sorry didn't mean to use your rant as a unintended promotion for our course, it just seemed topical to your visiting a range while on a work trip.

This morning was supposed to be the 2nd day of our Senior Club Championship. We had heavy rains this morning - about 1 inch over a 30 min span and the course was soaked. Initially they delayed our tee times 1/2 hour then decided they were going to close the course for the morning. However, instead of rescheduling the 2nd day of the Championship they decided to cancel it so the standings from the first day are final. I'm royally ticked off and told the Pro.

Restaurants and other entertainment venues do this all the time. Many hotels will have a 'brochure' section where you can leave details. Better yet why not have a "Get to know us" cocktail party for hotel managers in the area at your facility. You'd pick up a lot of points with them leading to more business directed your way.

Both good suggestions, Tony.  Before I was in the golf business, I was a Sales Director then General Manager for Hilton for almost 20 years, and you are right hotel managers like to be wined and dined.   The lobby brochure things is kind of going the way of the pay phone's near the lobby, or the telephone books in the rooms  :D     A brochure still available, certainly wouldn't hurt at all, but we began to see the trend of guests rarely coming to the front desk any more, as the explosion of apps for the phones make finding what you're looking for so much easier.

Great!  No it's not listed on here anywhere, as we aren't a paid sponsor or anything of the site, so I try to be careful to not come across as selling the course.  I'll PM you the flyer for the rental club and greens fee discount, the dinner combo thing is just something we still are working out details on.

OK, I'm beyond sick of this rain.  I think it started in May and hasn't stopped since.  Pretty much every day we get assorted rain showers some time during the day or night.  It's never ending!  We had to cancel our Tuesday league tonight because of it.  Rain rain, PLEASE GO AWAY!!!!!

Haha, same here. I wanted the 100° heat and 100% humidity to go away. Now I have 60°, rainy and windy. I don't think we have had one day in the 70's this year.

Send it our way!!  Put out the fires and wash the smoke out of the air.  Please!

I would have been all over that when I was traveling to DC before I retired.  That's a great deal!!

I feel your pain honestly.  I wish we could find a happy medium where everyone gets a fair amount of rain, and a fair amount of sunshine.  Heck, if I could come up with a process that allows an inch of rain between 2 and 4 am every other day all year, I would go for that.  Just leave our days with sunshine and an abundance of good weather for golf.  I mean, I don't think I'm asking too much, am I?

"Obviously my iron play is incredible, and when I get going I can get hot, but this course just fits my eye. The shaping of the holes, and just a couple of the doglegs, I'm able to shape shots."

That's awful hope he heals quickly. His concussion is probably messing with his memory, he'll come out of it.
